First of all I would like to thank Dr. Shy and his wonderful staff for the care they gave my baby boy Buddy Smith. He was almost 17 when he went to Heaven 3 weeks ago. I miss him dearly But His body was tired and God needed him. Over the past year he was sick on several occasions but Dr. Shy and his wonderful staff always seem to manage to keep him going so that I could Continue to make memories with him for a while longer. Barboursville veterinarian clinic has some of the greatest ,most compassionate and most caring people I have ever known. Dr. Shy Is one of the best Vets that I have ever met. I want to thank you Dr. Shy for being so caring and so great with Buddy, it will never be forgotten, thank you. I want to give a special thanks to Kyana one of the technicians that Always made Buddy feel "Special". When I would take him over to the clinic and he was sick, the minute he would see Kyana his eyes would light up as if to say " l got this there's my friend ". Thank you so much Kyana for being Buddy's caregiver and friend it will never be forgotten. And I want to give a Special thanks to Jamie the receptionist. Every time I would call in a panic because he was sick, she always seem to be very prompt at helping me to get him in, so that he would feel better. Thank you so much Jamie it will never be forgotten. And to the rest of the staff Thank you all for all the care and compassion you gave to Buddy when he was there in your care, it will never be forgotten. Buddy's last year on this earth was good because of Dr. Shy and his staff. Thank you from Buddy and from me, from the bottom of my ❤️. The Barboursville Veterinarian Clinic has some of the greatest and most caring people I have ever met, I "HIGHLY" recommend them. As you can see by my name I love dogs, so taking care of them means a great deal to me both physically as well as mentally and emotionally. I bounced from vet clinic to vet clinic always having an issue with either service, manners, or pricing issues. I had my oldest dog for 8 years and she was not great with vets but the staff at this location was somewhat different. She was still hesitant and scared to go, but they were much kinder to her than almost every vet id been to in the past. To the end of her life they took great care with her and doctor shy even got down on the floor with her because she was scared of the table. Some of the staff are a little rushed at time and can be short because of that due to their busy schedule but overall the tech's and vet's at this location are a god send. Iv been to cheaper vets before, but iv also been to more expensive vets. I can't recommend them enough, they are also very good about teaching you as the owner how to handle touch situations such as the one I found myself in. They helped give me probably an extra two years with my sweet girl Apple and I can't ever thank them enough for that.

I've had lovely bedside manner with my dog during his two appointments. I love vets in general but Dr. Shy had some informed recommendations about supplement quality

Several years ago while at a different practice, Dr. Shy recommended killing my dog at two years old. I cried and my Dad laughed because he knew how ridiculous it was. Thank God we didn’t listen to him, because she had a simple food allergy and lived to be 12 years old.

I didn't go but my friend went and took her dog and they found out her fur baby had an ear infection and she has to go back to see if it went away.

Dr Shy is so down to earth. He spends time with you to answer questions, he doesn't rush. He truly cares about animals and doesn't try to get you for your money. Love that staff. I highly recommend this vet.

I've been taking my dog their for 6 yrs. I called to get her in for glands express which she has to have every month ,which I have done for 6 yrs.. the lady on phone was very rude told me that they had been telling everyone to take their pet to a groomer for that.. my groomer doesn't do that.. she said the next appointment was October 9th an my dog can't wait that long.. she would be so uncomfortable by then. This is what respect my dog an I get after 6 yrs..

My little dog starting peeing blood Tuesday afternoon. We didn’t have an appointment but they had me bring her in within the hour. She was seen by Dr Shy, tested and diagnosed with a UTI. She was given antibiotics to take a home. In only a few hours, with no appointment, I was able to bring her home and treatment was started. I am so thankful that she was seen so fast. The staff was very helpful and informed me about what they were proposing, cost and potential diagnosis. I can’t thank them enough.
