Terrible and scary with the employees wearing full bulletproof vests and holsters for guns!!!Also, one man (employed there) was exasperated by a poor lady... She was trying to get in the door but was having trouble. Sad... the employee made a rude facial gesture towards her and made it obviousto everyonehe was over it, but waitef anyway for her. She was a resident.I would be afraid to stay there. I took my friend somewhere else that night.

I went and volunteered and helped in the kitchen. They take pride and joy in what they do for the homeless. Full on meals served hot n ready with coffee milk or juice. It’s amazing how this facilities work hard to help the community ??

I can only speak from a volunteer's perspective but nonetheless, I wanted to share my experience. I have been volunteering for over 3 years in a variety of capacities from the Outreach program (a group searches the streets in the van looking for those needing cocoa, handwarmers, sandwiches, toiletries, water, basic medical needs, prayer & words of encouragement, just to name a few) to Kids Club to the kitchen preparing & serving meals and no matter where I am or who I'm working with, the entire staff shows nothing but care & compassion for those they serve. Each person I have encountered has the best interests of the guests at the forefront of their minds and hearts. I have witnessed Heather (Outreach coordinator) take her own socks off of her feet to give to a homeless gentleman on the street, the kitchen staff prepare special meals to those with dietary & religious restrictions, and most recently, the YUGM hosted a s'mores & movie night in December so that their guests could experience a bit of normalcy even if for just one night. I came to volunteer at YUGM so I could give back to others what I have always taken for granted and I never expected that I would be given love, care and concern from not only the staff, but from the guests as well! They're just like me....looking for people to love and to love them right back! If you're looking for a place to help you get out of homelessness, YUGM is a step in the right direction! They have the staff, the programs and resources to help you. If you're looking for a place to volunteer, again, this is the place!

Nice place to go if you’re hard up for a place to stay. Very comfortable, and the food is great! The staff there really cares, and are amazing!

We are relative newcomers to Yakima County. My parents arrived from western Washington in 1968. My wife and I arrived on a Tieton orchard in 1974. God blessed us with avoiding the extremes of poverty or wealth. We have been in a local church and have found God’s kingdom wherever He planted us. My Dad and I enjoyed Men’s Prayer Breakfast on Saturday mornings where we met a variety of people from the Old Lighthouse and from the community. In the 1980s Dad was in his 70s driving pickup for the Bread Run to the back alley door near Front Street. Thirty years later I followed his footsteps driving a box van from First Street to several donors. In my 80s I enjoy sorting metals for scrap at the warehouse. I enjoy the new lunch room, and enjoy meeting people who are experiencing new life and a second chance at UGM.

I stopped shopping here because I had a really unpleasant experience with two of the employees at the Lincoln location. Amanda and Alicia were very unprofessional and were racial profiling me while I shopped. The environment they created during my last shopping experience was hostile, it was racist and it was hurtful.I was shopping and they kept following me mind you I’ve shopped here many times and this has never happened. They kept watching me, I had a pile of yes clothes and asked them to put them to the side for me and I was asked to grab a cart to store it behind the counter as I walked to grab the cart Amanda yelled Hey so loud & angry that everyone in the store paused because she was frantic and panicked. I realized she was yelling at me when I turned to see why she was yelling and it seemed like she thought I was going to run out with the clothing when I went to do exactly what she asked. Amanda realized I was grabbing a cart and didn’t apologize, didn’t say anything she just stood there. I was so frozen with rage that I just put the clothes in the cart for her then went to try on my other items. I walked to the dressing room Then Alicia the other employee working that day had the audacity to follow me to my dressing room and she wanted to check all the clothes I was trying on for tags which has never been done to me except for that day. I did call her out and told her “I’m not here to steal from the UGM I shop here all the time and never have I been questioned to have my clothes reviewed for tags. So she didn’t check them after that. Alicia had no idea how to respond she knew I was bothered and I did give her attitude because of course two white employees were the ones giving me a Mexican girl issues. I told Alicia, Amanda just yelled at me and now you’re following me to the dressing room. She was so nervous and really said nothing.Alicia and Amanda need awareness training, they need bias training, racial profiling training on how not to racial profile. Especially with the type of store they work at. If they treated me like a thief I can only imagine how they treat and make others feel while shopping in a store that is said to support people without homes. Racial profiling is racist behavior and it happens at the UGM on Lincoln. I was an avid supporter of this store, I would shop there at least once a week. This happened to me in March and I have not returned to this store since and probably never will while Amanda and Alicia work there. I have been meaning to write this review but couldn’t put into words what happened because the fact that I even have to say something so WHITE people could do better at a store for the community which they serve is exhausting. Because It’s simple really just don’t be a racist working at a store where diverse populations of people shop especially if you plan on yelling at everyone you “think” is going to steal.

The addition of the tents in the old parking lot and a security checkpoint is a big plus. The parking lot before consisted of vehicles that hardly ran but basically used as a place to put papers on the windows and get high in private. Much better use of funds if you ask me.
