Mark's Auto may not be the cheapest (I really don't know), but I do trust them to be honest. That piece of mind has its own value. Extra if necessary. How many times have we paid a mechanics bill feeling like we been had? I don't feel that way with Mark's Auto.

Highly recommend Mark’s Auto for any mechanic work in the Gorge! Jim and Ted are extremely knowledgeable and work very hard to fix & address issues with your car/truck to ensure you get rolling out of there with high quality work and high quality parts. My truck/camper is not an easy project, yet they were able to fix all of my problems as well as pointing out future work that would keep me going for years to come. Charlotte was very accommodating to all my questions and concerns, and the whole team and Mark’s Auto made me feel comfortable and up to date the entire time my truck was being serviced. Thank you so much for all your hard work and I’m happy to give Mark’s Auto my business any time it’s needed!

Mark's has a reputation for being honest, and I believe to the extent that they honestly don't want to do difficult repairs, this is true. I recently had a new-to-me vehicle inspection done. They missed a bunch of stuff and what they found I already knew about b/c it was obvious. I knew it was leaking oil, and instead of even trying to find the oil leak, they told me to clean the engine and find it myself. I'm sorry, what exactly was I paying for? Was that not the *literal* point of an inspection? Then they quoted me $2500 on a job that I had done for under $1200 elsewhere in the Gorge.Take it all with a grain of salt of course, because everyone else I know in town loves this place. But if, for example, you're trying to maintain an older daily driver because maybe you're on the lower-end of the economic spectrum and these are the cars you can afford to buy and drive, probably best to just avoid Mark's all together. They clearly don't want or need that type of business and they have, multiple times now, been more than a little dismissive about it. Not rude exactly, but very judgy. On the other hand, need an oil-change done on your Sprinter, or base repairs on a modern, easy-to-work-on newer car? This is probably the place.Services: General repairs & maintenance

Tried to extort extra work not previously found on truck, after passed inspection as reported to me, by owner over the phone. Truck did not pass after the fact. Never go back here. No ethics, I think he is an extortionistService: Vehicle Inspection

Excellent service and communication. But what I appreciate most about Mark's is the special care that the proprietor and workers have given to me and to others that I know. They are my good friends.Services: Steering & suspension repair

Mark's Auto is the best! They're so friendly and efficient, and I appreciate how they talk me through the work they're doing, the timing and the cost. Highly recommended!

I would stay FAR AWAY from this repair shop. The owner Jim is not an honest business person from my limited experience, and he's more interested in gouging prices to the White Salmon locals rather than running a decent auto repair business. Ted & Charlotte on the other hand were very helpful, and worked with me to understand the costs & labor involved for my beater vehicle.... thank you both. Jim, on the other hand, was pissed at me for asking on two occasions to work with me on the price & had the audacity to CHEW ME OUT for raising questions on the fairness of his pricing. Wow!! So much for supporting a local business. Please do yourself a favor... avoid this shop, and go visit Paco up the road instead.

We had Jim at Mark's do a complete checkup on our older truck (new to us) He explained why some things were worn out, how some previous repairs were done incorrectly and now reversed, and what to look for in the future. They are very busy there but he had the time to chat at the end of the day.Services: Engine repair

Do not trust this place. My elder church friend brought her toyota PU here. They charged her $308 and told her the obvious "your vehicle needs work". Didn't put in 1 minute of work. I just went over and spoke to her AND repaired all 3 problems in 1.5 hours! Sick people.
