I have been a client of NPC for about 1 1/2 years now and have nothing but positive things to say about the clinic and staff. My dogs are like children to me, and both of them have various health challenges, but the doctors and staff treat them with such wonderful care that I am at ease. We've seen Dr. RInta, Dr. Hicks, Dr. Leiken - all have been caring and attentive.

First of all, we've had good experiences at this vet. Caring love from Dr. Johnson, late night phone calls from Dr. Schwarmer etc... but we have five animals, three dogs and two cats. All of which have some form of medical need. We've been referred to specialists. We've also had to seek care from other veterinarians because this clinic can never get my animals in. We've had a few emergent issues, most recently when we had a foster puppy, break, a leg in an accident at our home and they were able to see her. That was great care. And we were thankful. We've also had another emergency when my dog, who is a two year old silver lab snapped at the foster puppy and Sliced her face open. We called and they said we could pop in to sit in the waiting room and have a check to look and see potentially if she needed stitches or not. We get there and then they shamed us out of the waiting room saying we never should've come. "There must've been a misunderstanding" and both my husband and I were there and privy to the conversation prior, and the person at the front desk looked at us like we were crazy. The fact that we have five animals and we constantly bring them in for every emailed, texted reminder or appt suggestion...we've spent thousands of dollars a year and we asked for a simple "look and see" to see if the puppy needed emergent care or not? Is that that hard? We didn't even ask them to be the ones to fix it? We just asked that if she did need stitches and they were unable to do it, we could go to the emergency vet. Everyone struggles financially, and thankfully, were capable of paying for these things, but again, when we decided to pull our dogs out of their care and seek other vet care, they called us to ask why we were potentially leaving and asked us to come back. This is why we would leave. Horrible communication. Long wait times. But I guess the thing that bothers me the most is the front desk, except Jennifer she's amazing! The front desk awful. Everyone is rude impatient and has a hard time keeping track of what the needs of their clients are. So much so that they confused multiple animals with a specialist office and proceeded to cause issues with life saving care. Stay away. It's sad, because I think the vets are good-and business is hard.

Don't bother walking walking in with an emergency. In fact, just run away! They obviously don't care about your pet other than a pay day. I came in with an emergency when my small dog (the third most important life in my life right after jesus Christ and my wife) had poisoned himself with chocolate. They knew how time sensitive an issue like that is and they refused to treat him because we didn't have an appointment and they were " booked solid for the day". I hope someday there grandmother gets told that at the hospital. Oh, wait, that IS pretty much the whole medical profession these days. No more hipacratic oaths 'cause they're all just in it for the money. Sad sad sad.

Extremely unprofessional, rude and condescending. I would not recommend or trust any animals to go to this clinic.

I love this place. I've raised four cats over 38 years in South Carolina, Georgia, Oregon, and Washington, and Neighborhood Pet Clinic in Felida/Vancouver is the best clinicever. You can go to a practice in an expensive, fancy building, but you'll pay more and receive less. The quality of care that my Matisse received from Dr. Johnson and her tech team was absolutely outstanding. I will be forever grateful for the treatment we received.

I've been taking my cats to Neighborhood Pet Clinic for years and years. They are absolutely wonderful. Dr. Mija Shattuck has the best 'bedside' manner of any doctor my family and I see- either human or pet. They've always been very willing to work with me on finding less expensive treatment options (with seven cats and kids to pay for that's super important), and the front office staff is wonderful as well. Very highly recommend.

I'm surprised to see some of the reviews on here but I'm hesitant to give 5 stars because I don't want them to get any more patients than they already have. Not because they can't handle more, but because I want them all for myself and my pets. :) Sometimes at the vet's office, just like the doctors, emergencies happen and you have to wait. I find them incredibly professional and Doctor Johnson is the best vet by far we've ever had.

Our dog had bilateral cherry eye. We thought that the pricing was a little high but we loved Dr. Johnson and all of the extra time she spent with our dog on his first exam. So, we decided to book the surgery with the neighborhood vet clinic. After a few days, one of his eye lids popped out making the surgery unsuccessful. We were warned and knew that it could be a possibility and were at peace with it. In the days following, we called several times trying to get him seen because the eye looked worse as the days passed and we were worried about infection...oh and the suture coming out of his eye... After the second day of trying to set something up, staff told us TO TAKE HIM TO ANOTHER VET if we were concerned (even though they were open on that Saturday.) We were also told that since Dr. Johnson wasn't in, that we would be charged for another vet exam because he would have to see another vet in the office. (I work in the ER and deal with consults all day, you are all in the same practice and should be able to see other Dr's Pt's if there is a problem with their work and the situation is emergent. NOT OKAY) Fast forward to his next appointment (a week later) with Dr. Johnson. She was upset that the surgery didn't work and we were told that we could get it fixed at cost. We are now going to have the eyelid removed because there is not enough tissue left to stich it down..... Now wouldn't you think that a scalpel would be a little cheaper than a tuck? Well, we got the estimate today and the cost esitmate is identical to the cost of the bilateral cherry eye surgery AND his neuter. They did try to be cunning and make it seem like we were getting a deal by cutting some costs. We paid over a grand on his first surgery and they want another $700+ to cut out the other eye lid. Thanks? But no thanks.

Unethical practices. LONG wait times. Preferential treatment of "select clients". The owner, Dr. Jackie Rinta decided to withold writing a written prescription for a narcotic pain medication that my geriatric dog has been on for YEARS, due to a past due balance. I was in the process of paying off the previous balance, however there are many clients in the practice with outstanding balances, and they are still permitted to make appointments, have services rendered without payment, even for routine vaccines. Dr. Rinta chooses which patients and clients receive preferential treatment at this practice. I submitted the refill request last minute due to leaving town for a family emergency, and Dr. Rinta had her office manager call me to leave a voicemail that she would "Write the script when I paid my bill". Now mind you, abrupt discontinuation of this medication would have left my dog in crippling withdrawal symptoms and incapacitating rebound pain. Any Veterinarian that has graduated Vet School would know that. All she had to do was hand me a piece of paper. The cost to the clinic would have been the cost of the prescription pad. I had to rush into the clinic, make a payment, under the embarrassing circumstances, to make sure my boy had his pain medication. I sent a message to Dr. Rinta stating that this was unethical, and that I felt she was in this business for the money only, not to help pets, and that I was highly disappointed. She had her office manager Michelle call me, and there was a supposed "Misunderstanding" on Dr. Rinta's part because she made assumptions. I received no apology from Dr. Rinta, no contact from Dr. Rinta, nothing. She simply wanted to make sure that Michelle talked me out of writing a negative review. She didn't care about my dog, she cared about her image, and once that was secured, it was done. This has been extremely embarrassing for my family, and is not the first time Dr. Rinta has acted in this manner. With judgement, and assumption. Ive sat on this for a long time, and regrettably, Michelle, who has always been wonderful, will be tasked with doing Dr. Rinta's dirty work, and this review will create a headache for Michelle, and for that I am truly sorry as the staff at NPC are wonderful. I understand a business has to have certain standards to keep its doors open, but its a shame that they are run by a Doctor that has her actions and motives all run by the almighty dollar. Especially due to the fact that the outstanding balance in question was due to hospital policies and procedures not being followed in the first place. Tread lightly and be cautious if you choose to give NPC a try. You will wait a long time beyond your scheduled appointment time, you will be handed a treatment plan a mile long, and depending on who you are and how much you've spent at the hospital, you may be treated differently than other clients. This event occurred months after I resigned and was from the point of view of a consumer of NPC's services. There is no correlation between the events above and any employment.

The wait when you make an appointment is ridiculous. For some reason I make an appointment and then don't manage to actually see my pet until a half hour later and I don't get an explanation. I understand 5-10 minutes but half an hour is ridiculous. You could call me and let me know.

Dr. Jackie Rinta and her entire staff are absolutely the best care providers any of my animals I have ever had. When we first moved back to this area, we asked our neighbors who had pets if they had a suggestion for a Vet and they all spoke very glowingly about Neighborhood Pet Clinic. Dr. Rinta became the primary care provider for our shelter dog and was always considerate and a friend to us and to our "Angel in a Dogsuit". Dr. Rinta saved us money on many occasions as we selected an course of action during our dog's three cancers and Dr. Rinta suggested and took all the time needed to explain why the lesser expensive alternative would be the better choice. We have two new littermates now and they are raring to go if we even mention Dr Rinta's name. She and her staff are well organized, no one ever shows any confusion about who should something, they call back when they say they will, always explain everything in as much detail as is needed, and then happily explain it again from the part where I got lost. We feel as though we are entering a building where friends have gathered when ever we walk in. I'm sure there are many wonderful Vets for pet owners to choose from but choosing Neighborhood Pet Clinic will never give you the feeling that you need to look around for better people, better care, reasonable cost, sound advice and cheerful attitudes. Yes, I think they are without equal!
