Be careful adopting dogs from here . They send dogs home with illnesses and once the owners realize it’s not new home new nerves pooping issues they refuse to help you when the dog has been sick for 28days since adoption happened . If you’ve adopted from this s shelter you might want to get your dog tested for giardia if they are throwing up randomly and having runny stools .

Originally looked for an older dog, me & my bf have been wanting to rescue as we only have one dog and knew we were both ready for another. Had our supplies for training, bought anything and everything we could think of to train and spoil another dog. I have a two year old Aussie that I’ve had since a puppy so Training was a must and I’ve also trained two other family owned aussies as well.and I love him with everything. Came in and found a dog my bf adored and got to play with outside. Dog I believe was around 2, we didn’t have my dog to introduce them so we told them we would come back full knowing there was no holds but we hoped for the best. I went in 2-3 days later to see that the dog was unfortunately gone. Us thinking it got adopted went back a week later and while my partner stayed in the car with my dog this time I walked around to see more dogs where I found this absolutely adorable 5 month old puppy. There was some other dogs I was interested in before one tried biting my hand while sniffing me and others would freak out over dogs walking by. However after falling in love with the puppy I decided to do a social meet with a volunteer I was then told after telling them that she was the one that I could bring my dog into the building which I was worried and confused and even asked if that was ok and they said yes. I had to walk my dog past the dogs in kennels to one of the meeting rooms where my dog got to meet the puppy. They did great. The puppy was ofcourse like a puppy and hyper but it’s normal for that behavior for anyone whos had or been around hearding, hunting or protective dog breeds its what your signing up for! We were given bad looks from one volunteer in particular who then whispered to someone that my dog riled up all the dogs and to not let that happen again (my dog did nothing hes very well trained and walked past quickly w me as we WERE TOLD). I briefly mentioned the name of the other dog we were interested in that was no longer there before finding out the dog was put down for not adjusting well?! We went through with pre-adopting the pup and were told we could pick her up four days later because she wasnt yet fixed so we had to pick her up day after. Day comes and we pick her up, take her home. we got home to our apartment (which btw we told them we lived in an apartment and if that would be a good match with this particular dog and they said yes!) we get home and give her lots of treats and stuff to chew on food water, She did get the zoomies so which we thought was adorable but then had to settle her down because of gettinf spayed the day before. The dog got comfortable and her whole demeanor changed from avg off the wall puppy to biting us EXCESSIVELY all up our arms and legs and 2 hours of non stop barking, we gave dog frozen yogurt made for puppies, all the treats and stuffed bones we could think of. We tried letting her run then crating. Nothing was working and then when she went to go in my lap she sniped at me and bit my hand breaking skin and lip curled before continuing to play when I had put my hand on her collar to keep her close and redirect her attention from playing with my big dog since she just got fixed. Again, I’ve worked with HIGH energy playful biting dogs. But unfortunately we knew that with this change and the bite that it wasn’t going to be right for us and we were most likely under-told about the behaviors of this particular puppy. She was very well asked about so we also knew she would get adopted quickly. We went back to the shelter after sitting down to talk for awhile. The desk lady was extremely sweet and understanding but we then had to talk to a behavioralist who was possibly one of the rudest, unhappiest people I’ve personally met and made a snarky remark to us. Left really saddened and knowing we are never coming back bc they WILL NOT tell you what you’re getting.Half the dogs bite and have a history they will not tell you of & they are a k!ll shelter unfortunately for dogs that dont get adopted and “aren’t adjusting well”, aka all the one star reviews

I was SO fortunate to obtain a spay appointment from their very limited calendar for my nine-month old kitten last year and I am still awe-struck by the quality and compassion of our experience. Comparing it to my other spay experience with my first cat, Humane Society was friendly, kind, and professional from start to finish. The sutures and operation looked so clean and far less invasive. The staff talked me through aftercare when I picked her up. I didn’t expect to be emotional for such a routine step in pet ownership, but even though I was feeling sensitive, they made it gentle and seamless - I left wanting to volunteer!

Why they have phones? No idea because they never answer and never return phone calls or emails, yet kennels and space are overflowing. Do better HSSWW
