My mother has been bringing her pets here for years and with her health declining I’ve been at the last few visits with her pets.
Doctor Primly is wonderful and always makes sure we are heard and the other doctors I’ve seen have been good as well.
Our most recent visit the assistant (I think her name was Makayla) came in and greeted us by our names, which doesn’t sound like a lot but it meant a lot to us and made us feel like she actually read our file and it just made us feel like she cared. She was thorough and kind but most importantly she seemed to have done her research and asked us about the last visit, already had an idea of what our concerns were and a good understanding of previous visits. I was absolutely blown away. You can tell she is genuinely passionate about her work but also wants to build a connection with not only our pet but also us.
Thank you Dr primly and Makayla and the rest of the staff!!!!

I called to try and get my pet in sometime this week but their schedule is booked out a few weeks. The receptionist Danell was OVER THE TOP amazing and provided me with a few clinics (and phone numbers) that I could take my pet to in a more timely manner. She took the time to explain the process and truly went above and beyond! I’d feel more than confident brining my pet here in the future based off this simple interaction! Thank you for being incredible Danell!

We have been clients of Hearthwood dog and cat clinic before they change to their new building for at least 25 years if not longer. My thought now is that they want to pay for their new building and they are now all about the money. Dr Pruitt was our original Vet there before he retired, he would carry treats and the cheese that you can squeeze out of a can to give to our pets so he could examine them and make friends with them as well as build trust.?
A year ago we took our dog to them to see why she wasn’t feeling good. We found out that after a battery of expensive tests that she most likely had a cancerous tumor on her spleen that was bleeding into her abdomen. We were completely caught off guard. So rather that putting her through a surgery (expensive) with about 3% chance of extending her like for a few more months, we decided to put her down. They expected payment prior to doing anything else. I asked if I could settle up with them the next day. Absolutely not. Tried to reason with them from my past loyalty. No they wouldn’t budge!
A year later we took our new rescue dog there. First appointment went well. Made another appointment later for shots, I was running late. I called them twice to let them know of my location. I was told that after 10 minutes late I would be charged for a late appointment change. I arrived 12 minutes late and was charged $84.50 the charge was a missed appointment There was no prior notice given to me about the cost. I offered to stay late for his shots later in the afternoon. There was no way that they could do that. We walked out with no shots and no apology. Called the manager a few days later and tried to reason with her and she wasn’t budging. Two weeks later a get notice sent about their new policy of charging for missed appointments after the fact! Shame on you Hearthwood veterinarian Hospital!!!!! You lost a customer and I am now telling others about how we were treated!

This was one of the worst and most traumatic experiences I’ve ever had. I brought my new baby, 3 month old 5 pound corgi puppy, here for his vet visit and follow up vaccines. When I called there to set up an appointment I gave them to the name of the vet clinic the breeder had taken him to for his first shots as well as the history on his umbilical hernia. When I arrived they did not have his medical records transferred, there must have been a miscommunication. To my knowledge they still never got his records.
When we went into the room and met the vet assistant she was very helpful in giving me information about his breed as she had 2 corgis herself. We went over what he would need done and the cost. I told her I was on a budget as I live alone and cost of living is high. I approved an exam, his bordetella, and distemper follow up vaccines at a price of $139. When the vet came in I told her about him being very itchy, my only concern I had with his health. I explained to her I had fully examined him for fleas and found nothing but that he was extremely itchy. She didn’t seem concerned with this as I brought it up several times only to get it pushed aside. I also mentioned I had given him a bath and noticed his ears were dirty. I attempted to clean them but him being a small puppy he was super wiggly and wouldn’t allow me to do so on my own. Her reply was “oh we can clean them for you no problem”. She then took a swab to his ear and said she was going to look at it under a microscope as it looked like he may have something going on in there. She then went over puppy care and all possible vaccines I could give him that weren’t required. I told her I would think about those vaccines and do research and decide later, again, I’m on a tight budget. They gave him the 2 shots I approved and then took him into the back to clean his ears. She came back and informed me he had an ear infection, otitis externa and he would need medication. They said they had a medication they could give him then and there and would be a one time medication. At that time I found out my bill was at something like $250. When I asked how it got so high the assistant told me the ear cleaning was $45 and the swab under the microscope was $70 something. I had no idea, although I should have known better, that when they offered to clean his ears and look at the findings they cost money. They made it sound like they would clean them for me no problem. This should have been explained at the time they offered. I was never given an estimate of costs or anything like I have normally received at other vet clinic. I now had no money to get his medication. I was very unhappy and said that now I’m broke and have to wait to get his medication. At that time I realized this place was not all about the care for my pet but about money.
The horror doesn’t start there. When I got home my puppy took a nap. When he woke he was paralyzed in pain whining and yelping and stuck on his back. When I attempted to help him up and figure out what was wrong just my simple touch made it worse. I couldn’t touch him anywhere without him in extreme and intense pain. I called the vet clinic and spoke to the receptionist there. I told her his symptoms and asked if bordetella or distemper vaccine would cause this and that I was given no warning signs of what to keep an eye on or what to expect. She says “oh no, that’s not those vaccines it was the Lepto vaccine”. In shock I replied “is that the vaccine the vet told me about that is painful like the tetanus shot for humans” she replied “yes”. I quickly replied “I did NOT authorize that vaccine”. I never would have as I always do research first plus let’s talk about the age and tiny size of my pup. If I were to give him this vaccine I would wait until he’s much bigger. Her reply was “oh, I’m very sorry about that”. I was given no warning, nothing to watch for or expect, no pain medication was ever offered even at the time of my call in panic. The next day his pain was gone but he he went from itchy to couldnt sit s

Way over priced, but they get the job done. My cat had kidney stones, they did a perfect surgery, and he is well and fine now after 2 years and $2000 later.
