While my experience at this location was not the worst, I did observe some poor behavior from a male staff member who was helping a different customer.During my initial visit (03/21/2024, Hazel Dell), an elderly woman was also trying on glasses and requested advice from the surrounding staff. Nearly every pair of frames she showed the male staff member I mentioned before was bluntly shot down with some variation of “Those are WAY too masculine for you.”Customer service workers, especially those working in a setting that involves the appearance of others, should not be so negative when it comes to the individual tastes of their customers. I believe honesty is of the utmost importance, but there are ways to deliver an opinion without being as harsh as he was. I also believe that we should be extra polite when speaking to our elders, which he definitely was not. It was honestly pretty upsetting for me to witness another customer be spoken to that way, especially because she was elderly and on her own.My only -personal- gripe is the wait time for glasses. It will likely take longer than they tell you to expect. It has been 10+ days now since my appointment and they are not ready, despite being told to “call and bug them” once 5 days passed.

I just went there to get new glasses, they only cost me $85 dollars I am so happy. The staff, specifically Elijah, was extremely helpful for having me pick out the right frames. He knows what he's doing and on top of that he's really funny and made my experience there a great one so thank you, truly. I am definitely going back everytime I need new glasses, you've won yourselves a loyal customer.

I received a phone call to cancel my appointment 10 minutes before my appointment time telling me that they had a tech call in. They had been open for almost an hour at this point. Inconsiderate of my time as well as a waste of fuel as I was pulling in the parking lot when they called. Luckily Stanton Optical in Hazel Dell could get me in on short notice.

I scheduled an appointment asking for both contact measurements and glasses. I mentioned this to the person who checked me in, to the assistant who ran the initial screening, to the doctor himself, and to the sales rep helping me out. They still didn’t do the prescription and when I brought that up, they said there was an extra cost. When I mentioned that no one told me that, the self-proclaimed ‘manager’ said got extremely agitated and with as much attitude as she could said ‘ WELL, DID YOU ASK HOW MUCH IT COST?’I immediately ended the conversation and said I did not deserve that treatment and walked out. The ‘manager’ agreed and apologized for her behavior, but damage done.Do better. I will never return.

I had an eye exam at this location (Store # 5255) mid-october and had to come back to order my frames and lenses. Came back the following weekend and experienced the worst customer service ever. I came in and was never greeted. Walked around instead, looking for frames and noticed the guy in the pic was playing a game on his phone, looked like farmville. There were also other customers in the store. This guy never once looked up to see who is around. A group of customers walked in and were greeted right away. So I went to the counter and asked for some help and the lady behind the counter named Page Morrow (later found out that she was the GM of the store) chuckled and laughed. I asked what was so funny, she said in a snarky way - everyone wants something! At this point, I was done!! I went to the VanMall location and had shared my experience and I was told that they knew how bad of a store the Hazel Dell location was. They added that they had customers coming in to their store with the same experience as I did. They gave me the District Managers contact number, his name is Alex. I have called numerous times and even sent text messages to his cell phone and not even a reply. Based on the reviews people have left, the way these people treat customers at this location is an everyday occurrence. I will never set foot at any America's Best store ever again and will not spend a dime!I got my frames/lenses at Warby Parker. They have the best customer service, their frames are way better and cheaper!!!

I purchased a pair of prescription glasses for myself, a pair of prescription sunglasses for myself, my wife got her contacts and my daughter picked up 2 pairs of prescription glasses also. The experience was good, people were polite, people were helpful, I was asked 2-3 times if I was being helped while I shopped through their displays of glasses for styles I liked. The lady who helped us was knowledgeable, intelligent, made eye contact, was talkative and polite. She ran me through what my vision benefits would cover, broke down all the plusses and minuses for me which helped me pick up better and more well optioned frames and lenses while utilizing more of the coverage from my benefits.I have zero complaints about my visit, we were in and out of there in 90 minutes, 3 exams, 4 pairs of glasses and a contacts prescription. The price was digestible and we kept it moving. Its my 2nd experience with America's Best, the first being out in Michigan which was much the same, quality service, good pricing and a great variety to choose from.I did stop back in recently, I had a screw come loose on the hinge on an arm of one of my frames. Walked in, explained the problem, was asked to sit, was helped immediately, the technician kept the conversation going while my tricky glasses gave her some push back, but she got it done, with a smile and lots of witticisms. I have zero complaints about the location, the service, they're good people doing good work and I'm sure right now during the holiday season they're being subjected to a lot of deranged folks. Reading some of the reviews, be nice to them, they're humans also, leave your personal issues at the door, its retail, it already sucks and they absolutely don't get paid well, they have lives and problems just like us.

I consistently have an awful experience here. The staff member who I seem to always get never treats me with respect and it’s just tiring. She will contradict you just to contradict you.

Terrible customer service. Every time I go to this location I have to look for someone for help. Employees there are always too “busy” sitting down idle or chatting with each other to attend their customers. If I’m going to spend money on something big like glasses or contacts, I would hope they would at least make an effort to fake interest in attending their clients. I had a simple request to receive a copy of my previous prescription which I understood was expired, but all I wanted was a copy of the paper I had already been provided with months earlier. I was not asking them to forge me a new prescription, I just wanted what I had already received but lost track of the physical paper! Their reasoning was that because it was expired they could not provide me with a copy of it, but I know that when you receive a copy of your prescription the date it is valid for is always on there, so even if I was trying to renew it it would not be possible because the date of expiry already makes it known. Their explanation for why they could not provide just a copy never went beyond “because it’s expired” so there was also no attempt to shed light on the situation whatsoever. The way I understand, patients should always reserve the right to ask for a copy of a document that pertains to their personal medical information, especially if a copy of a document that had already been given to the patient is what was being requested. Moreover, when management’s presence was requested to offer more insight, I was told that the manager was “busy” but I don’t know with who because there were no other clients around and not a single phone ring had come in. Very disappointed because I’ve given this place a chance several times but the overall attitude has always proven more than unsatisfactory.

Location is a great example of why no stars should be a option . Not only are they blunt, rude and sound like they are in a constant rush to get you out of their hair (despite little business going on i might add). They have multiple times refused to send me my medical information, years prior I under threat of reporting them for withholding my own information got them to mail my documents to me (guess email is to new a technical wonder to navigate) This time however they just hung up on me telling me what I am asking for is illegal because that information has expired , Excuse me what ??? MY PERSONAL information has expired ?? one, if my information is expired why are you keeping it on record and two, my medical information is my information to DO what ever I damn well please with and we both know they wont give it up easy because you are going to take that information and go to a more reputable business model. This time i will be following up with the proper channels and I dont care how much money and time it cost me to make sure they are properly reprimanded, Capitalism is truly failing us if we can no longer access OUR OWN PERSONAL INFORMATION.

The old lady smacked my case with the glasses in them on the counter and started yelling at me. Their incompetency and lack of professional attitude and rude behavior will not get them any business.

I appreciate the ease of the whole scheduling and availability However it’s not as cut and dry! The deal was exam and 2 pairs of glasses for a certain price, then you get to the appointment everything else is add on prices, if you need a certain test with your exam it’s an additional $20-$30 ! Then if you need multi focus it’s additional price. By the the time everything is said and done a $79 appointment turns on not $400-$500 . While I could of just purchased myself $30 foster grant glasses to do the same thing! So it’s all about knowing what you want and what you can afford! I’m sure the experience is different if you have insurance, so this review is coming from someone with absolutely no insurance and a very minimum income!

Had a great experience with Kayla. Extremely informative and helpful. Both Austin and Kayla helped me pick out the right glasses. I felt comfortable and had a wonderful experience while I was there. Thank you, Kayla and Austin.
