The perils of shopping local...I'm surprising my parents as a thank you by redesigning their office. I tried going to Ace (to rally in support of buying local), but it was a mistake. DO NOT buy your paint here.
The first few workers I dealt with were all great, but something has to be off with their paint machine. 5 visits, and two wrong colors later, I am out a lot of $$$ and time. In the end, the sample can of the color I chose did not match the gallon they gave me by several shades (see photo - the two should match) yet they refused to try to correct the color or reimburse me. They sampled it themselves right there in the store and proved the discrepancy yet did nothing. Not even the manager.
I've painted many homes, I'm also an artist/muralist, and have never had an issue like this with a paint store. No other hardware or paint store would leave a customer hanging like this, they always correct the color or reimburse. Not Ace. BUYER BE WARNED. I'm stuck with the wrong color paint and out of the $. It ruined this gift I'm trying to give my parents, and I left Ace Hardware feeling completely unheard and uncared for as customer.

Thanks ACE! Always find what I need. When you don't have it you help me find it.

Today experience at your store was just flat out wrong and after reading all of the reviews from past customers I now completely understand.

I walking into the outdoor garden section with my well behaved 7lb. Dog on a leash minding my own business wanting to buy flowers and the elderly garden lady so rudely spouts out if your dog breaks any stems you’re going to have to pay for them. I’m like, why would you just pick me out of all the customers around and blurt that out to me. I felt blindsided like the lady was prejudice. She had such a bitter look on her face. I went on and read the other reviews about this store and how other customers have been treated and looks like a patern. I sure do hope management will hire more quality employees to replace the ones that are giving there store a poor reputation. I will not be returning to that store for sure.

My battery died outside their front door and I realized I didn't have cables so I went in to buy a pair to use and keep on the road for future emergencies.
Before I even picked them off the shelf, the associate made sure to tell me that they were a non refundable item. They were $12.
Not sure what I said or did to give the impression that I would do something so petty as to try to dishonorably return merch that I used once 10 feet away from their front door, but the comment was entirely inappropriate, absent of context, and clearly based in the associate placing me into a fear profile.
Reading other reviews, it seems this store might have a theft problem resulting in a strong-arm stop loss approach to their floor interactions. I went in thinking Ace had the solution to my problem and was optimistic about my chances to get myself mobile again. Instead, the visit was stress inducing and only added to the problem at hand.
Regardless of the reason, maintaining a hostile sales environment isn't a sustainable method of preventing loss. It's more likely to lead to the prevention of revenue as I'm sure I'm not the only person who won't be back to shop here.
I predict this store will soon only have theives to serve if they continue this trend.

I absolutely hate doing this but I just can't get around how awful most of the staff were, especially the manager. He was a short, slightly older guy who within about 5 minutes of my entering the store accused me of attempting to steal a pair of gloves. Why? Because he found a tag on the ground near the gloves section that I'd been looking at. Now that might sound reasonable until I pointed out to him that the tag wasn't from an actual pair of gloves but was THEIR STORE PRICE TAG that is posted on the end of the hook they were hanging on. In other words, it wasn't a tag someone had ripped off a pair of gloves, it fell off their display. You'd expect the mgr on duty to know the difference.
And from that point on, he literally followed me for the remainder of my time in the store and was constantly telling me I needed to hurry up because they were trying to get out of there. It was 7:30pm and they closed at 8pm. Had it been 7:50 or later, sure i get it. But being told to basically hurry the hell up with a full half hour before closing is just ridiculous. AND THERE WAS NOBODY ELSE IN THE STORE. I saw at least 3 employees and apparently they couldn't work on their end of day duties with a single customer in their store.
I will NEVER shop here again. I'm a maintenance supervisor for a large apartment complex and this is the kind of store I would spend A LOT of $ in....but absolutely no way would I come back. At least not this location.
"Ace is the place with the prickly hardware folks"

I've always been a superfan of Ace Hardware, everybody is always super helpful. It's been the only place to go for nuts and bolts for decades. I go to the hardware section for my nuts and bolts. For the last 30 years they have only asked for quantity and price, I go to the checker and he says he needs item numbers. I go back and write down the UPC codes he tells me that's what he needs then tells me that I wrote down the would numbers. And wasn't helpful when I asked what numbers he needed. Judging by his red nose and cheeks he was probably drunk. Regardless I went 8 minutes down the road to Park Rose Hardware, and paid half of what I would have at Salmon Creek Ace and the staff was extremely helpful.

I have the unfortunate pleasure of meeting the owner who was rude California interested to talk to me if I was buying something. Their prices are exorbitant and I encourage you to go elsewhere anywhere for that matter, because I guarantee it's cheaper and there's other options. Parkrose Hardware also has a overpricing issue. At least they're friendly and kind.

This is the worst Ace Hardware around here. I have never walked into an ace hardware like this one and no one knows what a wafer key is. No one knows what their policy is on returns. If you ask somebody where a tool is they don't even know what you're talking about they have zero clue on what they're doing. They're just simply a body at a cash register to take your money. It's almost like this store should just have an automated system where you go and find everything yourself because no one is to any use. I would highly recommend going somewhere else don't even know how or why this place is in business here. I had to give it one star to send this review, and I don't even think it deserves a quarter of a star.
