Did not have a good experience. My accountant there may have been having a bad year in terms of other life challenges, for which I am sympathetic. This does not excuse poor communication and not getting things submitted on time despite many attempts to address questions in advance from my end. I was reassured that all was going as needed until someone finally suggested that I might be better off finding another accountant when it was already too late for me to do so. They did do me the favor of not charging me for my business return, which counteracted the IRS penalty, but my overall tax preparation bill was still substantially higher than both returns done by my previous accountant the year before and my new accountant this year. Hopefully mine was just an unfortunate product of a bad year by this accountant, but I felt that the amount of frustration the entire process caused necessitated me writing this review.

Our family business has used Abacus Accounting for several years and have been very satisfied with their professionalism. Jennifer is approachable, easy to talk with, and concerned about compliance.

Great Help!!! Our taxes were a total nightmare and Jennifer and everybody at Abbacus Accounting were great, ad a great help. Once my taxes were done correctly and errors from H&R Block fixed, we went from owing 17,000 to a little over 700. I would recommend them to anyone.

During my initial meeting with Jennifer, I was asked questions that made me debate about leaving my paperwork there to have my taxes done to begin with. Basic questions while she was looking directly at the paperwork that would give her the answer if she was actually reading it. Against my better judgment, I was already there, so why not. Their pricing was competitive (I was quoted $250 both over the phone and by Jennifer while in the office), and it would save me going elsewhere for another meeting. A lot of paperwork involved, but pretty simple tax filing overall. When I received the call that it was time to come in to sign and pay, they tell me my total would be $473. So $223 (almost double!) more than I was quoted by their office twice before. She tells me it was because she wasn't aware of our income level. If you do not have the skill set to request my income level before offering me a quote when said income level would almost double the initial quote, then I definitely should have followed my gut instinct and walked out of my initial meeting. She doesn't disagree that she told me the initial amount. She just says she had no idea of our income level which would require more forms for her to complete. Which she should have had a pretty clear picture of after the hour I was required to sit with her while she went through each document I provided. Then, as opposed to making it right by eating their "losses" because Jennifer could not seem to comprehend what her job would entail, I was offered $100 off to make up for it. I think not. I believe I will go somewhere that will give me an honest quote to begin with (and likely a much more thorough, accurate tax filing).

My experience with the people at Abacus has been excellent! They are always friendly and helpful. They have taken time to meet with me and answer questions I had when setting up a new business and didn't charge me a dime for that. Unless something dreadful happens to change my opinion I will never go anywhere else!!
I don't know where the person who wrote the bad review went, but I don't think it was Abacus. Apparently someone doesn't want competition or has some other ax to grind. Me thinks there's a hateful, spiteful person out there making that stuff up because I can't imagine that what they are saying is true.

i have always had great service from Phyllis, she has been doing my taxes for 10 years now and is always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. go see her on highway 99. she does an out standing job.
