DO NOT GO HERE FOR BANGS.
This place did me so dirty.
I haven't had bangs for a few years and missed having them. I went to Union because they had great reviews.When I tell you, I have never had a worse haircut. I wanted wispy bangs, and she just KEPT CUTTING. And when she cut them unevenly, she just brought in more of my hair to cut. Terrible terrible.
Now I'm stuck with these short, offal bangs that I've had get fixed at another salon. They were like, “who tf cut these?!”
The folks at Union were very kind, but I will not ever be returning. They ruined my hair.

Absolutely love this salon! Everyone is so great, love the products they use, and super cute atmosphere. I get my hair cute by Kate and I always leave feeling amazing.

I needed a last minute hair cur and my schedule didn’t align to rebook with Eleven, who cut my hair the previous time and did an amazing job. Union Salon got me in with Mirela though, and she did great. Super friendly, and really listened to what I was looking for. I’d highly recommend both Eleven and Mirela! So nice to go to a Salon and find consistency in stylists across the boards.

I have struggled finding someone that could give me the edgy pixie I asked for and love in Washington. Well I found it today at Union Salon. Mirela did just that today! I love my cute for the first time out of the salon in years. She listened and cut my hair with confidence. She was fun to talk to and I had a great time. It truly has been a while. I will be back for sure and will be requesting Mirela! Thank you girl!

I asked for a shag mullet, gave my hair stylist a Pinterest board and then she just went in and starting chopping all of my front hair off. In my head I was thinking trust the process but it took about 10 minutes to realize that she was giving me the ugliest 80's trailer park mullet. When I specifically asked for a SHAG mullet. I have curly hair and she used a layering razor that absolutely destroyed my hair making my hair flat and dull on the top of my head. I started crying in the chair. She asked if I was okay and I told her yes because I didn't know how to tell her she made me feel so ugly and gave me one of the worst cut I have ever gotten from someone professionally. I told her I wasn't going to style my hair the way she was styling it and she asked rudely to see the Pinterest board again. She told me she was just following what I wanted. Then she rushed to dry my hair burning my scalp because her next client was in.
I had high hopes going to Union salon because of the aesthetic and reviews and all the good things that talked about the place.
I walked in a couple of days before my appointment asking who gives the best shag mullets and the front desk lady recommended my hair stylist. On top of the horrible experience, the ruining of my confidence What I thought would be a $55 haircut turned out to be a 80$ even after I was crying.

Erica did a great job, one of the most quick and painless waxing experiences I have. She's also easy to talk to, explains the process thoroughly, and clearly cares about the work.
Also, the Union Salon space is beautiful, great location with high ceilings. I was really interested in their product selection, it looked like mostly natural products.

I have been going to Union Salon for years! Krystal is my usual hair stylist (she’s amazing!) but yesterday I saw Kelly. Kelly is also amazing and we had great conversation the whole 5 hours she was going my hair. I came in wanting to get the red out of my hair and match my hair to some hair extensions I had brought in. Kelly did a great job with getting all the red out of my hair and matching the extensions to the top half of my hair. The bottom half, however, toned too cool and does not match the extensions at all. I paid $540 for the service, and I called back asking what to do in this instance (but they were closed today). I was told they have a 1-2 week period for any corrections. I got my hair done because I’m going on a cruise this next week, hopefully they get back to me! Other than this slight hiccup I love this salon, I love the aesthetic and I love the people that work there.
Update: I was called back and asked to send pictures of my hair and the extensions. I sent pictures and they called back saying there was nothing they could do and essentially blamed it on me. I would not have said yes to having my hair bleached had they told me in the first place that they could not match my extensions to my hair. I would have just asked for all over color that could have been closer to the requested outcome. It really breaks my heart to leave a review like this after going to this salon for so long but I am really upset. I have been very kind and understanding and was not even offered the words sorry.
Update 2: I was directly contacted by the store owner after seeing this review who was very kind and helped me understand the situation. Ultimately, I shouldn’t have been told that it might not match the extensions in the first place. She offered to fix it but with my schedule I could not fit it in, and I did not want to put more chemicals in my hair so soon. Like I said before I love this salon and the people and I am happy that they reached out to try to rectify the situation and will be returning.
Update 3: changing my review to 5 stars because I love my girl Krystal. I’ll miss ya!!

I have been getting my hair cut by Krystal at Union Salon for the past couple of years. I trust her not only for cut and color but also for advice for scalp care (my scalp has always been a bit persnickety and she has helped deal with this, both with thinning cuts to allow my skin to breathe and with product recommendations). When I first came to Krystal I was migrating away from a few years of vivid dyes and needed help transitioning back to my natural color from some blocky vivid highlights. She gave me balayage highlights that blended everything seamlessly, to the point that I am now pretty much all the way back to my natural color with a smooth transition. When my mom comes to town, she gets her hair done by Krystal too. We have very different hair types and goals but we have both always been very happy with our results with Krystal. Even if I moved to Seattle I would come back to Tacoma for my haircuts. I am very happy with the value for the reliability and personal touch offered, in a clean and beautiful space.

Specialties: Cale was a wonderful stylist! This was the first curly cut I've ever had and my curls/waves have never looked so good! Cale spent a lot of time teaching me different methods for styling/drying and which products would work best with my hair type!
