I had this museum on my list to visit while I was in town for a music festival and it did not disappoint. I've seen several glass exhibits around the country but this was one was truly awe inspiring. I loved learning about the history of the location and what they made it into today. The live demos were incredible to watch as well from someone who's enjoyed the Netflix show "Blown Away". So many amazing Chihuly pieces as well as many from other incredible artists showcasing different styles and techniques. My personal favorite was the eDNA exhibit on local salmon. It was so mesmerizing, I just sat there for several minutes watching them move in the air. Also enjoyed that it wasn't just an indoor museum but has several outdoor installations as well. Gorgeous contrast with the surrounding landscape. I did visit on a weekend in February so I believe it may have been a slower season and I was able to walk up with no wait. The gift shop is also incredible and well worth a browse whether you're looking for something small to take home as a memory or a larger piece of art for your collection. Highly recommend for anyone in Tacoma!

Interesting experience. The hot room was educational as glass demonstrations were occurring while we were there. The bridge ceiling was very nice.

Glass blowing is very cool, and I love the children’s drawings turned into glass blown art.

I have been wondering for a long time how glass articles are created, and I thought this museum did a great job of demonstrating the process.

Small set of galleries, but the real pull is seeing the hot spot in action where glass workers are making new pieces with stadium seating around them and commentary

I could spend all day in the hot shop watching people work. I hate being watched while I work though so I feel bad. I feel like this place could use one more gallery.

My wife had wanted to see this museum for years. I am not into blown glass art, but she's my wife and I've dragged her to many a gun and airplane museum over the years. Fair is fair. It's an excellent place to visit. Much of the glass art was beautiful and fascinating. There is one exhibit in which the designs were created by children and the artists made them into actual glass sculptures. That would have to count as one of my favorites. Charming is the best word for it. The hot spot where the work is done was also very interesting but be ready for the heat. That theater is hot. All in all worth the time and money. There is a parking garage so that isn't an issue.

Neat overall, and the gift shop goes above and beyond.
We chose to browse in-store and requested the items to be shipped since we knew they offered that service. They took the time to thoroughly explain that we'd need to order online to get the best shipping rate, and even added some of the in-store only items to the site so we could have them shipped that way as well. The employee also went out of their way to make sure we used the coupon code.
OH. And you can visit the store without actually going to the museum itself.

Last Friday was a beautifully, sunny day and I took a couple friends to see the Glass Bridge and outdoor displays.
Even tho we didn’t go inside the museum itself, we were delighted to spend a couple hours looking at the architecture and stunning works of art. The gift shop itself is so amazing, it definitely means we have to return to see the whole museum!

Oh what fun! Informative, beauty, talent, various artists, some traveling exhibits, some are permanent. Each piece tells a story!
Live demonstrations. Lovely eatery on site, amazing giftshop! Interactive area for children to create and learn! We thoroughly enjoyed our vist.visit.
(Not sure why my pics loaded all mixed up)

Beautiful inside, especially enjoyed the kids section, the salmon run, and the hot shop, where we observed them making a glass vase.

Really nice museum. We spent the first hour in the hot shop watching a team of artists blowing and molding a sculpture together. Wonderful demonstration in a room made for this. Therewas a person explaing what was going on and it was all close captiined on a big screen overhead. We loved watching the artists at work and had to watch the entire process. The rest of the museum had a variety of exhibits featuring a range of artists. There was a room filled with glass done by Dale Chihuly which as always is so beautiful. We wish there was an additional gallery or two as it was a bit small overall. Well worth the time we spent here. A little pricey per person in our opinion but glad we came and didnt leave disappointed.

I watch glass making on tv/internet all the time, so I thought I knew what to expect. Boy was I wrong! This place exceeded my every expectation.
I didn't expect to be so emotionally moved by the exhibits. A week later and I'm still feeling those strong feelings. Thanks to the emotion in that art, there are a number of things that I see differently now.
I expected color and I was not disappointed - but I was surprised at how intricate the color could be.
Some shapes were elegant, others seemed straight out of sci-fi/fantasy. In many pieces I can only conclude that magic is somehow involved. How else can you explain 4 pieces in the shop that looked like crochet - including a shoe! All made of glass. I crochet daily - and I was beyond impressed.
We even got to see some glass artists at work! The heat of the fires warmed my face and the smell reminded me of campfires. Watching them work with the semi-liquid glass was a strong reminder of how much focus has to go into each piece. It's amazing how little has changed over the centuries. I watched them make impossible shapes inside other shapes and couldn't help but imagine artists a thousand years ago doing the same thing. The primary evolution in glass has been the imagination of the artists.
The only sad thing is that no matter what words I use, you'll never understand how incredible this place is until you go yourself.
