A Tiny Tacoma Art Gallery, but an important one. Run and managed by the creator of the Baby Head Cups this place a great for showcasing your visual art if you’re a local artist seeking an audience. It’s also a location to purchase Baby Head Cups. Located in Hilltop and supported strongly by the local community. Thanks Uncle Hilltop ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I ordered a print of "The girl with tousseled hair". It was fantastic. The ordering experience was fine, shipping was about 5 days. I look forward to the next purchase.

Your website was easy to use. I was pleased with selection of prints available for the artist I was looking for. Shipping and delivery was great! The print is very good quality. It is at the frame shop now. I’m excited to hang it in my home.

Fulcrum Gallery is now, and has been for a little over a decade, the only artist-owned gallery of significance in Tacoma. Fulcrum owner and glass artist, Oliver Doriss, produces exceptional work and opens his gallery space to emerging local artists, musicians, and local organizations hosting art-related events and concerts. Fulcrum should be first on your list when looking to attend an art opening or if you are interested in booking a space for an art-related event.

Fulcrum is a great local gallery - the owner is well connected and provides a great space for up and coming local artists. Bought a piece at a show recently, and the transaction and delivery went very smoothly. A great hub for the Hilltop community - and the events are not to be missed!

The quality of the art is very poor. I ordered a picture about 50 inches long, with plexiglass on top, the only choice offered. When it arrived it was so poorly made, it was not even sitting straight. You can barely see the picture through the plexiglass. We decided to return it. The website states that you can return in 30 days, but call first to get a return number. I did and I was informed that I have to pay for the return. $100.00 later it was returned. At the same time I ordered a second picture about 25 inches with glass. When it came, it looked better but when we started looking closer you can see that the frame is not straight, you can see on the left side, close to the frame the backboard of the picture. Not worth at all to purchase from this place.

Best art gallery in Tacoma. Oliver Doriss has a great eye and the space is well-arranged and perfect. I am there every Third Thursday to see what's new and am never disappointed. A bonus: I find a subtle thread of humor throughout the exhibits even though the art ranges from painting to glass to photography to all kinds of sculpture. And yes, it's on the Hilltop...who cares? I have wandered on foot throughout the Hilltop for hours day and night, and never had the slightest worry. With Tacoma Art Place just a few blocks down, all we need is one more art gallery/space there to make it a destination "district" in Tacoma.

Oliver Doriss, the owner & curator of Fulcrum Gallery, is probably going to go down as one of the urban pioneers who helped revive Tacoma's Hilltop neighborhood. There's so much potential here - and he's a man who sees it & has tapped into it. Really - this area is analogous to Seattle's Capitol Hill near 14th & Madison back in the 80's. Fulcrum is divided into 4 spaces, the front half is currently the official gallery space, a very cool & large 3rd room is in transition, and the back area houses Mr. Doriss's studio - he is also an accomplished glass artist. There are some items for sale in the second gallery space. You can find "253" shirts here and some great patches paying tribute to Tacoma. Mr. Doriss also sells his work here, including his "baby head" cups - I'd like one in every colour. (Consumer/art Lover that I am) The focus here seems to be a more cerebral look at local contemporary art. The current exhibit "The Heavens Reflect Our Labor" features four local artists working with metal. It is a small show, but very diverse, thoughtful & worth a look. Chris McMullen's kinetic sculptures are particularly clever. I look forward tracking Fulcrum's evolution - Thank you, Mr. Doriss, for coming to Tacoma!
