When I realized my Volvo needed an oil change it was only two days before a trip across three states — I should have planned better. I called Dave, explained the situation, and he squeezed the service into his already-full schedule. Maybe not a big deal, but try that at the factory dealer.

If only there were 6 stars to give! I drove down from Kirkland to hand them work on my 240, and THEY LET ME WATCH THEM DO IT.Who does that? I do 90 percent of the work on my car, and honestly most of what was done was to repair my dumbassery.Super reasonable prices, and implicit trust. Only downside is that they aren't in Kirkland, but stupid University Place. ?

I brought my Volvo in for 150k service which was completed as scheduled . While picking it up started talking with Dave about my sons '99 Volvo and brake issues. Dave said to call ahead and if he was ok on time he would take a look at it. I did and I was blown away by his honesty and concern. Turns out the breaks were good. He pointed out some other issues to fix. He did all this on the premise that I was going to attempt fixing the car with my son. Not only did he show me the areas of concern, he told me what would be needed and how to fix it.Services: Vehicle Inspection

This shop is the most honest shop I've ever taken a car to in my 55 years of car ownership. Dave is not only an excellent mechanic, he is an excellent person. He fixed my Volvo for 8 years and unfortunately, I moved out of town. I need work done on it and he answered my email, which he was under no obligation to do. I miss his clear and expert advice and his workmanship. He runs a Five Star plus shop. Thank you!

Dave is a great mechanic who really cares. They have been my mechanic for over five years now, and I have no plans to find another. I'm planning on my next car being a Volvo mostly because I know that Art works is here to help me take care of it.

The owner and staff are 10/10! These men repaired my daughters car with the best parts, the best mechanical experience, and techniques. They showed me the cars issues (in depth), how to repair things, they are honest and the shops bathroom is clean (that tells me a lot about a shop LoL).

We have used Art Works for more then 14 years for our 4 Volvo’s. Dave has been amazing at teaching your daughter’s what needs to be done on their car’s and what to expect in the near future for planning purpose. Our daughters feel heard and have full trust they are being treated honestly and their car’s are well cared for. I can't say enough great things about Dave at Art Works Auto. He really came through for me.Our 91 240 Volvo broke down over the weekend and our roadside assistance towed it to the Volvo dealership in Tacoma. After we learned that the dealership was unable to help us due to not being able to use factory parts, I found Art Works Auto on google and called him up and had the car towed to Dave. He even told me to call back the roadside assistance to see if they would tow the car for free, as the dealership couldn't help us. Which I did and it ended up being free! I just figured they were going to charge me so I was going to try something else in the area.Based on all the info we had, everyone was thinking it was the alternator. Dave was able to diagnose and fix the problem the same day, and as it turned out, it wasn't the alternator at all it was just that a wire from the alternator had worn and broke. Dave called me up and clearly explained the problem and only charged me for the labor to fix the wire which saved me 300 dollars.Dave was straight up with me the whole time about what might be happening and the cost and time it would take to diagnose and fix. Dave even offered to pick me up from near by if I had to bus into the area to pick up the car.I have had the vintage Volvo now for a little over a year and anyone who goes down that path knows its tough to find a mechanic that can just be reasonable.Dave exceeded my expectations and really helped me out in a pinch after a weekend of stress and struggles.Dave, if you read this, thank you my friend. I genuinely appreciate you just being a decent human being. You turned a pretty stressful trip home into a minor inconvenience.Services: Electrical repair
