Amvets Post 1 is a great Veteran's organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for veterans, their families, and the community. It provides a quiet lounge for veterans and their guests, typically attracting an older crowd for a calm atmosphere without excessive noise, though it becomes raucous and fills up for events like Super Bowl Sunday. The post has always gone out of its way to make everyone feel they belong and is filled with great, caring people. The venue also hosts weekly events like a Wednesday night dance class and social dance organized with the Tacoma Manhattan Dance Club. These events are super fun and friendly, with many experienced, talented dancers who are lovely to watch and happy to share expertise with newbies. It is a great place for ballroom dancing for everyone, both new and experienced. Additionally, the bingo hall offers a piece of mind, where caring people create a warm, welcoming environment that makes you feel good. Quiet lounge for veterans and their guests. It's an older crowd so you don't have the whopping and hollering and carrying on that you sometimes see in other joints. Except on Superbowl Sunday. The place fills up and gets raucous, but then who would want to watch the Superbowl in a quiet local?
