The volunteers are VERY HELPFUL & COURTEOUS. I'm glad that The SUMNER FOOD BANK are doing appointments. As there are certain PATRONS that take ADVANTAGE of this SERVICE making it VERY LIMITED for people like myself to be able to have a selection of choices. The STAFF & VOLUNTEERS are AWESOME!!!A GREAT amount of PATRONS have NO RESPECT for others who really need it. Especially the PATRONS who drive up to LOAD their NICE VEHICLES going from ONE FOOD ?? BANK to ANOTHER & so ON.NO WONDER they ONLY allow US to come in ONCE every TWO weeks.THANK YOU so MUCH for the people ABUSING the ACT of GIVING. RUINING the PRIVILEGE for people WHO NEED IT.YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!To the SUMNER FOOD Bank STAFF & VOLUNTEERS, THANK YOU for ALL your HELP & ASSISTANCE.May YOU have a WONDERFULLY BLESSED WEEK.???

First I was new and needing food,I called them that Friday yes when it was closed. Left message. Someone called back unfortunately didn't know his name. He told me what I needed to know then he told me to come around noon that why it would be easier for them to do the paperwork, even though they opened at 10 . Well when I got there I felt judged not by the people that where supposed to be helping me,it was the people who needed food also ,go figure, any ways went in and I was told they were not able to help me out with food that day why not because of no food,it was because I was new and they weren't taking any new people today,my mouth dropped in disbelief and distress, thinking I was told to come in at that time . Being confused and just saying to my self where is there Jesus,I truly need food . I have never felt so bad, my suggestion is dress like you don't need anything, come in a very nice vehicle, and you will probably get some help.☹️???

1st visit takes a lil longer. After that you make an appt , and these visits go a whole lot faster. Just as every other food bank, you walk thru, as tho you're shopping. Some items you get to pick, others you dont. I read reviews b4 I went. I didn't find anyone that was rude, or otherwise unprofessional-treating others w/out dignity. There is 1 volunteer that is mos def an alpha female. I don't hold that against her- I've volunteered @ f.b's., b4. You have to be 'commanding,' bc some ppl will Run You Over (figuratively), try to take advantage. Cannot allow this. There are others that are in need, as well.

Is a fun place to volunteer but when they have races people is not like Rachel she is one of them that just because I’m Hispanic she put me down all the time I went to volunteer today 01/02/2024 and I ask her for a pager and she said yes go ahead and minutes later she when my and talk to the supervisor said that i grave the pager without asking and is not true and I got humiliated from the supervisor about she is so racist cut is not the only time that she humiliated me with people just because I spoke Spanish saint that Spanish people that take advantage of the foot band because that way they can still.Yes I know but having racist people like Rachel is bad. Today I did needed food because I’m not getting money from my work my shot disability go deny and I cannot not go back to work in till 01/25/2024 that’s why me knowing that I can’t do heavy work I was willing to volunteer to appreciate for the food that I get but she like to humiliate people I got told about racism in this food back but I didn’t believe now I do . She doesn’t know how bad I needed food but is ok god have something for her.

They always give good things, but sometimes they don't want to serve you if you arrive even when there are 10 or 15 minutes left before closing.

I arrived at 8:50 and was no longer there! Only the first 31 people give them, I can't get there at 7:00 am or 8:00 am since my son goes to school at 8:30, it's the second time I've gone, and I can't make it! It's very sad to see how they give food to people who arrive in luxury cars! And sometimes not even the people who live on the streets are enough.I had to see a man crying who lived on the street and couldn't get food! They should see who actually needs the food! There is also a lot of spoiled and expired food which is not healthy to eat! I had meat that was spoiled and 6 months past its expiration date. You should check that because there is a lot of food with an expired expiration date. And in poor condition.

I've been going to this food bank on and off for almost 7 years. I remember when it was by appointment which I miss but I understand that they may not be able to see as many families that way. However, Ive arrived about 8:20 almost every time to wait in line. You wait and then at 9 they start to hand out beepers and then you wait in your car. Every single time I have gone to the food bank as soon as they start handing out beepers, people from their cars come rushing out to those who have held a spot for them. So basically the people who have been waiting get skipped. Not to mention they all likely live together and go home with a lot more food than anyone else, it's clearly not fair. I hate to leave this review but it is not ideal for a family of 5 (3 small children ages 7, 6 and 3). With a single income and not being able to afford the things we need until my husband gets payed. I have since found a new food bank. I'm sad to say I will not be coming back .

I’ve needed help several times, unfortunately, despite working full time. The staff was very friendly so long as you were respectful, which obviously makes sense. Even as such they were not disrespectful to those how were being problematic or rude, but they definitely stood their ground which was actuality refreshing to see. I like that it’s set up like a store where you walk around in a specific route and select the items you can use or need. Each shelf/category is labeled with how many items per family are allowed.

The volunteers at the Sumner Community Food Bank are friendly and welcoming. The food bank itself is rather small, the selection is sometimes sparse due to many people needing help with food. They do have fresh produce, milk and butter. Lots of bread items to choose from. Come early as they can often be a waiting line outside.

I came here today to get food for my family because we have almost nothing until payday in a couple days. Instead of being met with what I thought would be kind people. I was instead unable to even find parking because the older lady I tried to ask if there were any other parking didn't seem very interested in helping me. Don't worry about us being back and I certainly hope others are getting better response from you guys.
