Planned my dog's dental cleaning well in advance so I could request first surgery of the day and midweek due to her heart and liver health. This was again communicated the day before surgery and the morning of. At 10:30 I call to check on my pet, still not in surgery. She got last surgery of day. (other surgeries that day were a tooth extraction and spay) At 5:30 that evening I leave with her in my arms; and by the way she smelled awful. She is out of it. She starts to come around 12 hours later with seizures. Emergency hospital closed. I called Aubudon at a little after 7 telling them on my way explaining emergency. They let me in and I am waiting apprx 15 minutes before a tech comes in. I'm cradling my dog and sobbing. Not once in 10 minutes of questions, do I or my dog get any compassion. She didn't even touch my pet or check vital signs. Another seizure happens. They keep her for observation that day. Couple days later I bathe my dog and her hair on her hip and leg fall out. The smell as it turns out was due to the burn from the heating pad while in their care. This was the diagnosis and treatment I received at another clinic that next morning. Audubon written response was my dog "was treated with proper caution and quality care.." They have not reimbursed me for the med bills to treat her burns and by the way the written response from Audubon was unsigned. They have neglected my correspondence. Since new ownership came a couple of years ago, tons of turnover. When Dr Wachtel left there after 10+ years this January, I followed her as have many clients. What does all of this say.. Read other complaints and proceed with caution

During a very scary time, Audubon helped my sweet Murphy boy. His neck had swelled, and he had smelly discharge coming from around the area. The whole time they treated Murphy, they kept me informed, gave me all my options, and took amazing care of Murphy. They made sure he was not in any pain, and that I knew exactly what treatment was happening. All the staff are amazing and I know they all care so much about any and all animals! Thank you Audubon!!

HIGHLY disappointed. Will never come back. My dog has been having episodes every 3 months of diarrhea. We finally looked further into this problem. The vet found my dog to have elevated Bilirubin levels. The vet wanted to do further testing. So I brought her in on Friday the 22nd for a bile acid test, and a liver ultrasound to determine if my young dog is having liver disease (which is a big deal and not something to mess around with.) I was told I could have results by the end of the day, if not, for sure on Monday the 25th. Monday comes around, I called them twice and was told that the blood results were there but not the ultrasound. They wouldn't tell me what the blood tests read. Today rolls around (9/26). I called them in the morning asking for results. Once again. I get put off and people keep passing the buck. I expressed my frustration and the front desk said they would call me later with some kind of news. I received a call later saying that the results are in but "the vet that is staffed today, also the owner is not able to give me the results because she is busy with surgery " mind you, this is the end of day 5. I asked the receptionist if the vet that is on staff could look at the results and tell me them when she has a moment. The response was no, and that I will have to wait until Wednesday when the primary vet that cared for my dog is in. This is SO UNPROFESSIONAL! I just need someone with a license to talk to me about next steps. I have spent the last 5 days stressing about this, and they don't care. All they keep doing is passing the buck and showing no customer service. I STILL KNOW NOTHING.......

Have taken multiple pets to Audubon for nearly 30 years and my pets have had excellent care/treatment and I have been treated well until this past week. After Dr. Mike retired and the practice was sold, I've continued to take my pets there. I love Dr. Wachtel and hope to continue to work with her. My cat recently went in for a "dental" procedure. When a tech called to tell me my cat was out of surgery, she talked so fast I couldn't keep up with what she was saying and when I finally absorbed what was being said I was totally freaked out, to the point of crying. It sure seemed like the tech was in a huge hurry and quickly ended the call. Later in the day Dr. Young, who performed the "dental" called to tell me my cat was doing okay and that I could pick her up later in the day. I was still reeling from the shock of hearing that 14 teeth had been extracted and was expressing that to her. She was less than empathetic, or sympathetic! The hope had been to clean teeth and potentially extract one canine. At no time was it intimated or plainly stated that multiple teeth might need to be extracted! Dr. Young was just plain rude, and went so far as to say that I had been told that multiple extractions were a possibility in previous consultations. When I said that wasn't true, she emphatically stated, "I know what you were told!" She wasn't in the appointment with Dr. Wachtel, two weeks prior, and wasn't involved with the drop off of my cat the morning of the dental procedure, so how would she know what I was told?! She also jumped to the conclusion that I wanted to argue about the number of teeth, and the cost, when that was not at all the case. I was in shock and upset/distraught for my cat, concerned about after care and what my cat's quality of life would be like!!! She abruptly ended the call! The tech needs to slow down when delivering shocking news, but Dr. Young gets an epic fail!!

Employees are berated on the daily. Poor management by new owners. *Might* be good vets but people skills are sorely lacking. Will not go back!

The staff here is not caring. If your pets are like family, bring them elsewhere for services even if you have to pay more. Past reviews are good but I guess previous staff was better.

I had a terrible experience with this clinic. If you don't want to read the whole story skip to the paragraph break for the summary. My puppy who was about 6 months old at the time was vomiting up every meal she ate, so we took her into audobon vet clinic, which we had been to a few times before. We let them take xrays and the doctor told us the dog had a large intestinal blockage and without immediate surgery the dog would likely die. We asked if there were alternatives to clear the blockage and the doctor said no, surgery was the only option. We agreed to the surgery. It was a thursday morning. They kept her there and we went home. I didn't get a call all day and nobody had called by around closing time so I called. They were still working on her, and lo and behold the doctor was wrong. There was no intestinal blockage. They found absolutely nothing strange about the intestines that they could explaine to us and said, "it must have been gas." But now that she was opened up they wanted to spay her and take a biopsy of lymph nodes which they repeatedly told me were enlarged. They wouldn't tell me what they thought that meant or why it could be dangerous, and when I asked if they had taken pictures of them she actually scoffed at me and told me they didnt have the equipment to do that. I'm smart enough to make some conclusions and do some research to provide my own vague answers in place of their non existent ones. They just told me they wanted to send them off to test. We agreed to the spay but not the lab work on the lymph. The surgery cost $1800. We had to pay in full on the spot, with no reduction in price despite the doctor's critical misdiagnosis, which was the sole basis for our agreeing to the extremely invasive surgery on the puppy. The spaying was our only console since that was going to have to happen soon anyway. Otherwise we felt awful about the situation. Then we were promised they would call to check up on her recovery the next day, Friday. They never called. Then of course they were closed all weekend, and then, just our luck, Monday was a holiday! No call. We didn't here from them to check up on her until Tuesday and I called in to reach them. We had plenty of questions about her incision, her medications etc, and no one was available to consult for 5 days! In summary, they gave us a life threatening diagnosis and said there was no alternative. They sliced open my dog and found absolutely nothing like what they garaunteed me they would find. They tried to sell me other lab work and services in the process (some of which made sense and some of which was expensive and unneccesarry). The wait time day of both at home and once we got back to the clinic was long, and the doctor avoided us and sent an assistant who wasn't part of the procedure to field our questions and send us home, and then they didn't contact us to check on her for 5 days (I actually called them when I finally talked to them). We still didn't know why puppy couldn't hold down a meal! And we came up almost $2000 short after all said and done. Of course the doctor later defended her decision and said all of her colleagues agreed the xray looked like there was a blockage. If it had just been the misdiagnosis, well I can understand people make mistakes, but the poor communication and their unwillingness to somehow work with us to ease the finsncial burden (price reduction, payment plan) despite their promises of death if surgery didn't happen immediately, made me decide that they were extremely unprofessional and I'd never be back.

I have been taking my dogs here for the last twelve years and have had experienced the best customer service ever from the front desk to the techs and Dr, Chrystal Wachtel. Today I met Dr. Danielle Meyers for the first time, the owner of the clinic, the worst customer service ever. From the moment she walked into the room she was grilling me about where I got Rusty, she was going over shots, etc for first puppy visit. I mentioned to her that we had Rustys well puppy check couple weeks ago, with Dr. Whachtel. Dr. Meyers proceeded to stomp out of room to check the front desk regarding type of apt then came through the back door peeked in and said just go ahead and give vaccine, to the tech, no explanation, no is there anything else I can help you with. I had mentioned to her that Dr. Wachtel was going to re check Rustys ears to make sure no earmites since getting the simpirica a couple weeks ago and when Dr. Whachtel did well puppy check. Such a horrible experience with this doctor, I am so shocked with her customer service. Now I know why my friend quit going here because of this sort of customer service. Dr. Meyers made me feel like a peon, made me feel uncomfortable. Do not make complaints but this was an awful experience in my community. Very disappointed in this doctors customer service. We took one of our dogs there last year and had a great experience. So of course when one of our other dogs was having the same issues we went back there. We were quoted 600 to 700 for teeth cleaning and extraction (we paid 400 last year and she had 11 teeth extracted). I understand cost's go up and they did great with our dog last year so I agreed to the estimate. The vet tech called while my dog was undergoing her procedure to let me know there were more teeth that needed to come out and it would be 1090. Ugh. I told her to go ahead if it needs to be done. She called a little later to say my dog had a seizure but was okay and they would talk to me more about it when I came to pick her up. I was very upset and didn't want to wait until I got there to know what happened. When I went to get her it was very chaotic in the office. I sat there stressing for 15 minutes before they took me to a room. Another 15 before the vet tech came in to give me the rundown on my dog and the meds they were sending home. Then I waited for the vet to come in. The vet explained that border collies are prone to allergic reactions to the medication that she was given (why give her that medication knowing that)? She said my dog was doing great now and was wagging her tail when she talked to her. When they finally brought her to me she was totally out of it and didn't even know who I was. She was also missing her collar. I sat there for another 15 minutes while they searched for it. Then a guy from the front desk came in to get my credit card and told me the total was 1150. I told him it was supposed to be 1090 and he said "Well, she must have not included the meds!" We left without the collar but unknowingly with someone else's paperwork. Chaos. My dog cried all night. It was horrible. The vet tech called the next morning apologizing about the collar. I vented my frustrations to her and asked why the cost of the same procedure trippled from last year. She said the practice sold and that now they were practicing better medicine and had more updated equipment, etc. and that if I read the small print at the bottom of the estimate it does say that it is just an estimate. I told her I didn't read the fine print, I just took what the vet said to be roughly accurate. I understand it's an estimate. But I think it's bait and switch to charge twice what you are quoted. She offered to refund the cost of the lost collar which I accepted. Today I received a phone call from a gentleman that has my dogs collar. He was there the same day as me and had a similar experience. Same procedure and his dog cried all night too. I think I prefer the way the practice used to be run with the "outdated" way they practiced medicine and took care of our pets.

Took my dog to get a simple blood draw. The ladies at the desk were all RUDE !!! While I was waiting for my dog's appointment I overheard the receptionist talking to a customer about a bill. She was short and did not want to listen to the customer. After she got off the phone with this customer she made comments under her breath about the customer !!! RUDE !!! It came to our dogs' appointment and they tried to pull her in the backroom to go see a tech. We tried to help by saying if you just let her owner be in the room, the dog will be cooperative. They said no and tried to get her to go back with them. LOL . They needed her owner to walk her back to the tech area and then quickly escorted her owner out the door. We heard the dog not cooperating with them and I couldn't believe how hateful they were! They brought the dog out (she was dragging them) and asked us to leave and go somewhere else and not return. (I might have said don't be bitches to her) So we left..... We will never return to these money-hungry people that don't really care about your animal, just MONEY!!!! Disappointed ...

My pup and I loved our old vet but there always comes a time when you feel the need to search for a veterinarian who is willing to embrace and use new techniques and current medical technology to better the health of your pet and Dr. Young has always been that veterinarian for my pup. We are so happy that this clinic is now under new ownership, so forget the old reviews because these new Doctors are the best. Dr. Young has always shown patience, kindness, and compassion towards me and my little man. She was his doctor when he was gravely ill back in February and since his diabetes diagnosis, she has always given us the best advice on current treatments and diets. Not only will your pet receive loving and compassionate treatment and care, you too will also be treated with respect from the staff. We love the one on one personal treatment along with very fair pricing!! Thank you so much for helping bring back Winnie's smile.

We have cats and live near the Audubon Down River area. We had previously visited another veterinarian office in the same area and the more we went the less we liked them. Then we tried Audubon Veterinary Clinic and they are awesome. Having lived in a few states I can say they are in my top 2 list as one of the best vet offices we have been to.

The staff at Audubon is always so kind and helpful. Our Stella has had the best, consistent care over the past 2.5 years. I highly recommend them!
