I’ve been seeing Mellisa for almost two years now and I can’t say enough good things about her talent and just the beautiful soul of a human she is. When it comes to cutting my hair, Melissa delivers EXACTLY what I ask each time. Her cuts are consistent and she takes the time to hear what it is I want, but also plays with my hair to see how it falls naturally and how the cut will suit me best. Every time I leave I feel my hair is the best it’s ever been. She is genuinely so talented and I wouldn’t trust anybody else with my hair. What a gift she is to me and all those in Spokane who have the privilege of getting their haircut by her. If you’re looking for a new hair gal, look no further and book with Melissa. I really like this salon but dealing with Miranda and her texting and scheduling is next level absurd. It took me THREE months to get an appt with her…not 3 months bc she was booked but 3 months to actually make the appt!!!! She apparently only sends out one text every Monday. She sends me a text on Monday and I would ask her a question right back and wouldn’t possibly hear from her again for two more Mondays. I was abt to give up but finally responded one more time to ask for an appt after a couple of months and she gave me an appt. I went to the appt and She was very nice and seemed very talented. Good job on my hair. I was so excited. So I booked my next appt 2-3 months out. But had to cancel bc of my work schedule. I literally worked 50 hrs to try and get my schedule to work but couldn’t. I told her (on a Monday) with no confirmation of her receiving my cancellation. I asked her two more times to PLEASE let me reschedule as my hair was a disaster and I just need an appt. Still no response. I can assure you that NO stylist is worth all of this. In fact, during the 3 months of just trying to get an appt, I was abt to give up and a friend and me were complaining abt her but she assured me she was worth it even through the hassle. I’m sure part of all of this is trying to make it seem as if she’s super elite. I messaged two high profile salons in L.A. and Arizona and received a response within 24 hrs. Seriously, if you’re that busy then hire someone to reply back with a text. Good for you for being so busy but super poor business skills.Service: Haircut

To the girl who seems long layer hair cut is so easy your sadly mistaken. Why didn't you watch a tutorial since it's that's simple . As a hairdresser myself to cut a haircut it's just not that simple . In defense of my fellow hair dressers Im o one deserves this kind of rant . Zoe is one of the most talented hairstylist and dedicated hairstylist I know . It's a insult when I see people who have done hair there whole life and people like you want a deal after all their hard work and labor . Not to include the continue education us hair hairstylist go through .

I got a haircut and color at Dept. Z for the first time yesterday, and I'm happy to say that after trying many other salons, I've finally found a home for my hair.
For my first consultation, Zoe took the time to talk to me about what I wanted, and let me ask all of the questions I could think of. She then took the time to look at my facial structure, and recommended the best type of cut for me based on my head's proportions. It's something no hair dresser has ever taken the time to do for me before, and it totally paid off. I've never had a haircut that suits me so well!
I was really impressed with how professional Zoe was throughout the process, even when I pointed out something I didn't like. She took the time to correct the issue without any change in how wonderfully she treated me. By the time I was out of the salon, I felt like a superstar. I highly recommend you stop by!

I was excited to see Zoe for my haircut, due to top ratings on Yelp. When I booked an appointment with her I looked up at the price range on Yelp which shows $$ and was expecting to pay anything from 40-60$ and I did not ask how much is the haircut with Zoe. It was my HUGE mistake! DEPT Z don't have any price list or website to make sure-WARNING! To compare- Salon JAAZ has $$$ mark on YELP and their most expensive haircut -which is some kind of Diva haircut is 85$ on their website! Now all I wanted is a long layered haircut...was asked to pay 106$ at the front desk!!! I mean I am picky with who does my hair and go to decent salons in Spokane and do not mind paying reasonable price. I have been to KOI, The House of POP and these places are not cheap, but at least they have reasonable prices! But even for someone who moved from a big city-100$ for haircut is just crazy. Now to details-haircut looked ok, not something I wanted. But I will give Zoe a credit for talking to me about my expectations, telling me about my face shape... giving me 3 min head and shoulder massage and giving me few samples after a session. A little too personal with questions though... The place is nice, customer service is good, but I just still cannot get over of paying more than 100$ for Just simple haircut and not really liking anyways. MAYBE if you need some kind of difficult or special haircut or if you just don't care about how much you pay you might want to try this place. Other than that I have gotten better results at other and cheaper places!

Zoe did my cut & color today and it turned out way better than I was hoping. She sat down and talked to me about my hair before we started and asked questions. She looked at the pictures I had brought and talked over my options. I rarely have felt like a hair stylist has taken the time to make sure they understood exactly what I was wanting, so this made me confident in her immediately. My hair is to my lower back and she made certain where I wanted to cut before we started. She was very nice to talk to throughout the process and regularly asked how I was doing. She even gave me a super relaxing scalp and shoulder massage. The cut, color, styling and the overall atmosphere of the shop were all great. Also everybody else I saw getting cuts and/or colors from the other stylists all looked great too.
