Before I share my encounter with Banner Bank, I would like to address that I have been with Banner Bank since they took over AmericanWest Bank. I first opened an account with these people when I was ten.Today I went to deposit a check I received from my landlord for about 780 dollars. I wanted to cash the check has this was money used from another bank and Banner Bank is where I do most of my banking. The teller at the drive-thru (she had my debit card and ID) told me she could only give me a portion of the check and would need to deposit the rest. The portion being the amount in my account. She stated that if the check was to be fraud then I would be liable for the amount.I said fine deposit all of it (I knew it would not bounce) she then proceeded to give me the receipt. I asked where I would be able to find the policy and procedure for what she has stated. I let her know I have been banking with them for 10+ plus years and have never been put in this situation. She said that if I had questions I could call the branch manager.I left and decided to call the customer service number on their website. I asked the customer service rep, where I would be able to find the policy and procedure of Banner Bank for cashing checks and deposits. She said that is up to the branch manager to make that decision. I was befuddled as I said so I can go to another branch and they would have a different policy and procedure. She stated she did not know as she is only the customer service rep.I said well I would love to file a complaint against that branch for discrimination. They have no justification for not cashing a check. She stated that she could see that I had the amount of money in my account that I could go to an ATM. I let her know, yeah I can go to an ATM, but if the money is pending in my account what is the difference between cashing the check and withdrawing the amount. The check did not bounce and they knew it would because they run it through a scanner to make sure it is legitimate. Anyone in customer service who runs a till knows this.I leave this in hopes that Banner Bank takes the time to actually appreciate their loyal customers in a manner that is inclusive and with integrity. That encounter cannot be a reality.Thank you,Jesus Cardenas

I have banked with Banner for over 10 years, and have while I wouldn’t say the customer service was always stellar, yesterday it was downright horrendous. Three calls to three different people to try to figure out how to get my online banking to work and they were all flippant and unhelpful, and two where just rude. They’re attitude was one of distain. One even laughed at me. I’ve had it with this bank. Will be switching to first interstate for business and two other accounts. I mentioned this and the customer service rep didn’t seem to care, so why should I stay? There was at no time any attempt at resolution.

Someone got my card and deposited bad checks in my account... even though I can prove beyond a doubt it wasn't me and it was fraud , they didn't assist me instead they closed my account and said I can't claim fraud and I'm out all the money that was stolen from my account. Do not do any business with this bank they are a joke.

I would recommend getting a second opinion if trying to get a home loan. Especially if you are first time buyer.

I love the bank except the fact when someone gains online access to to card I have to pay to replace it everytime it happens.

My account went dormant after no activity for a year. There was no warning, my money was just gone. Online support said I need to print paperwork and mail it in to get my account reactivated. I am so happy this wasn't much money, and that I never did any real banking at Banner. They should be called Bummer Bank. STCU or BECU are far better!

Got a construction loan with Banner Bank. They were eager to get my business but once they got my business issues started. Had to open up a checking account, because they couldn't deposit the loan money into a different institution. Then at every step of the process they had to send out inspector and charged $150. Now they're asking four things that are done with a punch list why couldn't they just reference their own inspector?
