Went in awhile back for a simple transmission fluid change, since their prices seemed to be the best in town. No leaks prior to service. Came out with a broken shift lever seal and a consistent leak. They replaced the fluid a couple times, but when I just tried to call to have them service my vehicle for another fluid change, including the transfer case and a shift lever seal replacement, they refused service.
*Update, this other shop I went to discovered one of the bolt holes for the transmission pan was stripped. I have a feeling this was also due to negligence at A&L.

We were told to drop our Subaru off by August 1, 2024. We dropped it off July 31. We were informed that it usually takes about 3 to 4 days to rebuild the transmission. Not knowing if it would need additional parts until they got inside of it could add 2 or 3 days more. I followed up with them on August 13th to see if it was done. I was told by Judy that they had not started on it yet, but that they should get to it the following week. They finally started on it on August 21st, however, they didn’t get it done until the afternoon of August 29th. I ask Judy why they had us bring it is so early if they weren’t going to get to it until 3 weeks later. We could have driven the car for another two weeks and still dropped it off with plenty of time before they actually got to it. Judy understood our frustration. She said that she agreed with us but unfortunately that was just the way Don (the owner) did things.
I called again on August 27th to follow up. I was told that they hoped to test drive the car the next morning, and would then give me a call. I hadn’t heard from anyone on the 28th so I called at 12:40 to inquire if it was ready for pick up. I was then told that they weren’t done with it, and it would be the next day before they would test drive it.
Again, I expressed my frustration with them taking a month to do a 4 to 5 day job. The lady I spoke with ask if I wanted to speak with Don, of which I said yes. After being on hold for a couple of minutes, Keven came on the line and told me the car would be done the next day. I was confused in that I was supposed to be speaking with Don. I informed Keven of this however he said Don was speaking with a customer. I explain my frustration to Kevin and ask why they had me drop the car off by August 1st and then not touch it until August 21st. It then took another 8 days for a straight forward rebuild. He said it normally takes 4 to 5 days to rebuild, but that sometimes delays with other customer vehicles, or emergency’s with fleet customer vehicles could cause it to take 2 weeks. I told him that still did not explain the fact that they had our car for 3 weeks before they even started to work on it let alone that it took 8 more days just to do the job. They put people in a bind, especially people who own just one vehicle. It creates a financial hardship when you have to rent a car for a month to cover what should have been done in 4 to 5 days. He could not give me an answer other than to say he was sorry and that they would try to do better in the future.
I’ve only had the car back one day so I can’t say yet the quality of workmanship. Time will tell on that. My advice to you is to carefully choose how long you can afford to be without your vehicle. Taking someone’s car for a month is not acceptable in any shape or form! They could have at least offered some form of discount do to their incompetent scheduling, but of course, that never happened.
I hope this helps you in making your decision on where you want to take your car, and how long you can wait to get it back.

AWFUL. Stay away. The post about them standing behind their work is a joke. They are also far from the best price in town. Not only did they take 6 weeks to replace the transmission (was quoted at half that) when it was returned to us there were issues. When we took the truck back, they acted as if they were perplexed when every mechanic has confirmed its an easy fix and 100% related to the transmission. They give MAJOR attitude when you call for an update and act totally put out. We are taking our truck to a different shop and paying to fix what A&L damaged and should be taking care of.
BBB filing to follow.

I lost my transmission cooler lines headed towards Idaho on 7/3/24. I had AAA tow my Silverado to A&L transmission to take a look at the damage. The shop was completely full and busy. Don and Judy were quite hospitable, diagnosing and checking parts availability. It initially looked grim, and thought we would have to leave the truck and rent a car to get to Silverwood for the 4th. Judy located the parts and Don told me he’d have me back on the road in a couple of hours. They pulled the whole crew together and they knocked it out of the park. I cannot stress my gratitude for helping me and my family get back on the road. If I lived closer all my vehicles would be serviced here! Thanks again, Don, Judy and crew!

I called around to a bunch of transmission shops. Have an older suburban that wasn't sure where the service has ever had been done. When servicing a transmission that has lots of Miles there's only limited things you want to do. They were the first transmission shop to answer the questions right. They've done a great job on three of my vehicles. Prices have been reasonable and service has been excellent. Honest shop. Hard to find these days.

Called a few places before coming here. Professional and knowledgeable shop. Their price was also the lowest I was quoted, and they took the time to answer my questions after the service. Would definitely recommend them for your transmission needs.

A+ I came home to a puddle of transmission fluid under my truck and they were able to take a look at it the same day. Kevin easily found the issue and had it fixed (me back on the road) in no time at all.Service: Transmission

Quality workmanship from a straightforward and honest workman. Anthony will give you straight answers to help you make informed decisions. A&L provides a level of service that is quickly fading from our communities!

Huge shout out to A&L and a massive thank you so much for taking the time to fix my truck!! I had taken my truck to 5 shops before taking it to A&L and no one wanted to take the time to figure out what was wrong with it let alone fix it! A&L is hands down the best place in Spokane and I will NEVER go anywhere else again!!Service: Transmission
