March 2024 by Doug K.
Class schedules were great, now starting in April 2024 they are moving everything around. Very disruptive to people with set schedules and routines. They did this without consulting the members,. Very frustrating., My advice, don't start a regular routine here, they will change it without notice.

So fun! At first I was worried I couldn't pass the swim test, or if I did they wouldn't let me swim very far, but even the easiest one will let you go very far into the pool! Plus, I forgot goggles once but I asked a pool lifeguard and they showed me a small bin of goggles that you could get goggles from (although they were dusty and most of them were broken).

An avid recreator of aquatic facilities, I utilize steam rooms all across the state. B.I.A.C., Y.M.C.A., S.A.C., etc. I've been a member of the Y for some time now, but unfortunately there has been repeated lack of respect from the faculty members. Here is just my most recent instance . . . This facility has been having temperature management issues with their steam room. Sometimes it runs a little hot. It's not the only one that does. I frequent many steam rooms in many facilities and they all vary in temperature. I don't mind it too much. I adjust by utilizing the different platform levels and my duration. At this facility, and others, I often sit on the floor level where it's cooler and safer. All of the facilities I frequent know this, and from time to time, although not frequent, I see other patrons doing the same. I'm sitting in the steam room as I always do, when a lifeguard enters the room. She asks if I'm sitting on the floor. I say yes. She instructs me to sit up higher because "it's creepy". I wasn't wearing a mask, making scary sounds, or exhibiting any bizarre behavior. I wasn't doing anything "creepy" I find it appalling that this lifeguard took a patron's account that I was being "creepy" (in whatever aspect) for face value and instructed me to sit higher in an already malfunctioning steam room. I'm calling to terminate my membership tomorrow after work. My other aquatic facilities I frequent wouldn't dare confront a valued patron with such a circumstantial weightless and preposterous claim. Cheers.

The gym space is beautiful and of high quality. The cost is higher than we would like without a good family discount, and the fact that we cannot bring guests to show the gym without them paying full price off are the major factors against it as compared to other YMCA locations. Also, as much as I understand that the YMCA is ostensibly a Christian organization, please realize that most people are coming to the gym to... wait for it - work out, not to get a dose of religion in their lives and I suggest that the bible quotes, bible verses etc could be left out and nobody would be complaining. That being said, the Nativity on the upstairs floor is pretty bad ass and I do appreciate the time and effort put into staging the Christmas village, I know it takes a lot of care to set that all up. Thank you YMCA staff for your care and attention to detail and keeping the facilities clean and safe for all; truly appreciate your support of the homeless showers and foster care access programs, this are great ways to show marginalized members of our community that they are cared for.

Upon entering the building the welcoming center gives an energetic welcome, continuing into the building one cannot help but notice the cleanliness and how well kept the building is taken care of even with it's age of over 11 years old. The staff are always friendly, instructors are enthusiastic, and skilled. The sanitation personnel are always friendly, and ensuring the areas are sanitized and well looked after.

I have had the pleasure of being a Y member but this facility is by far the best. I am motivated to go and workout. The steam room/sauna is large. The staff is friendly and the machines have been available.

This is the best place to exercise. They have everything you need to work out. They keep the place spotless! And it's decorated beautifully for almost every holiday and/or season. For example, Christmas time, the place looked amazing! I took pictures and shared them on Facebook, and no one could believe those pictures were at a gym! I would recommend this facility to anyone. The staff are very helpful, professional and supportive. I'm so happy to be a member.

Frankly this place sucks. Their front desk staff is 10/10 awesome though. The hours have been unclear, I asked to speak to a manager to clarify the hours and they totally put me in the phone with a fake manager that was obviously a teenager. The pool is overseen by power tripping highschoolers. And there a policy where they make everyone get our of the pool every 20 mins for 5 mins- everyone hates it. Basically it's like if the hall monitors in highschool ran a pool.

Terrible staff. Always accusing and unwilling to help. Membership if overpriced and facility lacks music.

This is the first time signing up for the Y Summer Camp Program. My 8 year old son is loving every day of camp! The staff are amazing! Each week is a new theme (dinosaurs, super hero, explorers, etc.). Before and after care is included (we did not need to use it so far, but it is available if needed), water play/swimming one day a week, and more. My son always says he had a great time with so much excitement at the end of each day of summer camp. I would recommend the Haselwood Family YMCA Summer Camp Program.

This was my first visit in 6 years, and it was wonderful to recognize some staff members who still work here! There was a YMCA summer day camp being held on the front lawn. The facility is well maintained and very clean.

This Y is always clean, wide range of ages and abilities all work out and play here. Staff is friendly and competent. It has a beautiful, big, windowed pool, improved weight room set-up, upstairs track, rock wall, and frequent pickleball times.

The first thing that I noticed about the YMCA gym is how clean and well-maintained it is. The floors are always spotless, the equipment is always in good condition, and the locker rooms are always fresh and tidy. The staff at the YMCA gym is also amazing. They are always friendly and helpful, and they are always willing to go the extra mile to help you find what you need. One of the things that I love most about the YMCA gym is the sense of community. There are people of all ages and fitness levels at the gym, and everyone is always supportive and encouraging.I also love the variety of fitness classes that the YMCA gym offers. Whether you are looking for a high-intensity workout or a more relaxing yoga class, the YMCA gym has something for everyone.Overall, I am so impressed with the YMCA gym. It is a clean, well-maintained gym with a friendly and supportive staff. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to get fit and healthy.

The YMCA is a huge part of our family activities throughout the year. There are lessons for the kids and classes for everyone. We enjoy the Haselwood branch because it is more spacious and feels less crowded than the Tom Taylor/Gig Harbor branch.
