The best pharmacy in West Seattle ?
-
November 2023 by Farther Out Collective
Like all retail spots in Seattle, this Walgreens is short staffed and theft is just an accepted part of our new economic life. Just watching people fill their backpacks with items and walking out with no one even acknowledging it is so infuriating to people that actually pay for their items. It is unbelievable. There is always a huge line for the pharmacy, there is one “person” working there, that is a complete jerk to everyone. She/they are miserable and it is apparent. Most of the time your prescription isn’t even ready, even though you will receive multiple phone calls and emails from the automated notification stating that it is. It happens basically every month and they always ask to come back in 2 hours unless you get annoyed then somehow they miraculously have it ready as soon as you drive out of the parking lot. It sucks. I don’t blame the workers. (Except the person that is a jerk) I am sure that working in an environment that every single person that you interact with is not receiving decent or even minimal customer service feels frustrated and that their time is wasted just trying to get medicine is not an easy thing to do. It is Seattle’s politics and the passive wimps that run corporations like Wal-Greens fault. Pay people so that you are not short staffed. Hire a security guard to at least attempt to deter thieves. But I guess it doesn’t matter for places to protect the consumer or value their time. The get their insurance coverage for theft and they also get to raise the prices even higher because regular people that do the right thing are the sucka’s of the community. I want to say do better, but we all know it is never going to happen.

Live nearby and this store is so poorly stocked. We can never purchase routine needed items. I’ve been to MANY Walgreens across WA and the US and this one is the worst I’ve ever seen. I can’t even get them to answer the phone to check on a prescription. They put you on hold then the system hangs up on you. I agree with others reviews. Not sure how it exists. Do business elsewhere.

I went in to drop off a Fed Ex package. The label printer is not working, so make sure you print the label before you go in. I was prepared to use the QR code from Fed Ex provided. So I had to go home, print label and make a second trip to the store.

They have caused multiple delays in my prescriptions due to pure ignorance to a level one would not think possible for a professional. The level of harm they are doing should not be legal. They did not refrigerate - or at least inform me to refrigerate- an expensive injectable migraine medication of mine according to manufacturers instructions.

This is a great Walgreens location. The staff went above-and-beyond to help with my shopping needs, and the store was very clean and met all of my shopping needs.

If you need to use this pharmacy, do not rely on the hours posted in the app or online. The only reliable way to know if the pharmacy is open is to go there in person to see if they happen to be open. And the pick-up date in your app might not be accurate, either. I receive emails, text messages, and app notifications from Walgreens for my prescriptions.Last week I received a notification that a medication was ready. That's all it said. So I went to pick it up the following Saturday, as usual. But there was a sign on the door that they would be closed Sat-Monday. They've randomly closed without notice before, but only for a night. Why couldn't they send patients a message telling them about the extended closure - ideally with enough notice to plan for it. It's 2022 - magic marker on a piece of paper taped to the door shouldn't be the only way you communication changes in a pharmacy's open hours to patients. Especially when you train patients to trust the information you send in-app. I work Mon-Fri and have a long commute, so I couldn't go during the week. So they cancelled my prescription (via app notification) and told me to call them. I tried. Stayed on hold for about 30 minutes three different times and nobody ever picked up. My husband was in the area today so he went to pick up our meds and were told that we can't get them until Monday. Period. Not even the one that was filled and cancelled. My husband and I have serious medical conditions. Just skipping our meds isn't okay. We try to build up back-up supplies, but it's hard when the pharmacy system is so screwy on good days. So we'll be sick this weekend. One of us will take the day off work on Monday to drive to this pharmacy and hope we can have our meds this time. It's pretty f'd when a patient can do everything right but it doesn't matter. Missing my meds for this many days can lead to fainting/seizure activity. I know the industry is struggling. But so are humans in general. And not being able to reliably access medication for chronic and worsening health conditions makes that struggle a lot harder. When the hell are pharmacies going to forced to be accountable to their patients?

It is a dismal, dismal place. The parking lot is seriously sketchy at night. There is a dark alley behind the store that seems to be an open air drug market (unless there are other reasons for people shuffling up to partially opened car windows and passing bills). The inside of the store is grimly fluorescent. Large secrions of shelves are bare or, in an attempt to make the shelves appear full, items are arranged in long single files across a broad front. So much is under lock and key razors, sexual lubricants and condoms, hair products, OTC meds, anything nice. This place must get hit hard by shoplifters; so, a total pain if you don't enjoy pressing the help button and standing in front of a display of Platinum water-based for 15 minutes. The staff is wary and sluggish. The smokes section behind the register is enormous. It seems like a place where shoplifters go to buy smokes and dealers go to piggyback on the Walgreen brand for their retail drug sales. If you can, go elsewhere

This review is specifically for the pharmacy. The pros are most definitely that the staff, when you can connect directly with them, are caring and engaged and know what they are doing. The really big, overwhelming con is that you cannot connect with them. I blame this on the ownership understaffing and giving them too much to take on for any one department. I went here for a number of years and when things worked fine, they worked fine, but if there was a problem, it was incredibly difficult to get fixed. You can't call because they literally do not pick up. I once actually was on hold for two hours and they finally picked up and then said they would transfer me and hung up (that's when I switched pharmacies). The drive through line is open and closed at seemingly random times, and then the counter line is extremely long and full of a combo of medically vulnerable elders and randos walking around without masks. It's kind of a mess. Again, I don't blame the staff - they are trying their best. The ownership needs to increase pay or staffing or something to actually let the staff do their job, though!

I realize that, like many businesses, they are short-staffed. However, after being on hold for literally one hour, I decided to stop by in person. The pharmacy is supposed to be open till 9 PM during the week. I got there around 8 PM, and it was closed. Sheesh!

If I could give this location ZERO Stars I would. This has to be the worst Walgreens in America. I am not being dramatic here. I have been to Walgreens all over the U.S. and this one is by far the worst. First, the store is dirty and the parking lost is always populated by local groups that use it as a hang out.Inside the issues continue. The store is never well stocked and more often than not, they are completely out of routine items such as deodorant, soap, toothpaste or hair colorings. The pharmacy is no better. They are very slow and will just out right ignore Doctors calling in prescriptions for patients, then lie and say no one ever called them (there may be some prescription theft going on). They seem to never be able to fill a prescription on auto-refill right, they are either late or too early and will completely miss prescriptions which you have to remind them about and then have to wait for.For example, I had a blood pressure medication on auto-refill, I got a text message that it was ready for pick-up, but when I arrive, they say it is not ready yet, this continued for 3 days in a row. In the 4th day, when I was on my last pill, I had to go to the pharmacy and get upset and demand they refill my prescription as I was not putting my health at risk because of their incompetence.Second example, my Doctor called in a new prescription for a sedative for an outpatient procedure. Their office confirmed the prescription was sent to Walgreens, but when I call Walgreens, they claim no one has called them. I call my Doctor, he confirms he called and then proceeds to call in the prescription AGAIN. Walgreens still claims no one has called them. My Doctor and I confirm he has the right information and are calling the correct Walgreens and make one more call to inform the location about the prescription, and guess what, the Pharmacy STILL claimed no one called in a prescription. My doctor had to provide me a sedative from his own stock the day of the procedure. This being a controlled substance, one has to wonder if something shady is going on there. There seems to be zero effort put into this location from the, pharmacy or management. Walgreens really need to send some auditors to this location.

I wish there was a 0 stars option. One star for...existing...I guess...tl;dr if you can use a different pharmacy, do it. Unfortunately for me, I save a lot on my prescription if I use CVS so this is my nearest option.Adding my feedback to the echo chamber of "worst pharmacy" reviews. Setting aside the amount of time you'll waste in line (especially when they can't have the drive-thru open due to staffing issues). My biggest qualms:1. I have my reoccurring prescription set on auto-fill and it has never been filled on time. Not once. Even when I call to let them know that I'm out of a prescription I must take daily...it still takes another 24 hours. There's really no point to auto-fill with them.2. Recently I paired number 1 with being quarantined with no car, so I was thrilled to see a same-day delivery option. I selected delivery and the website said it would be to my house by 3:00pm (several hours later). My prescription never came. I called the next (this) morning to ask if it will be delivered and they said they have someone scheduled to pick it up at 3:00pm. I'm currently waiting for it so here's to hoping!

I second that this has to be one of the worst Walgreens. I called yesterday to check on a prescription and was told it hasn’t come in yet. I called back 2hrs later and was put on hold for literally 90 minutes. I called back again and was put on hold again for 30 min. Then finally someone picked up the phone then hung it up immediately. When you finally get ahold of someone they are rude and unhelpful.
