This is a great space for practice in all senses, and Troy is an amazing teacher with deep knowledge and an admirable skill attending to each student and supporting where they are in their own practice.

As a South Asian person and capoeira master, I've been in search of getting more connected to my own people's movement practice, yoga and adding yoga to my daily capoeira practice. I can say after many years of searching for a yoga teacher, I found him, Troy is a true master, a master of masters you can say. Excellent classes and instructions, world-class.

Troy specializes in Ashtanga style yoga. He just knowledge of this type of yoga goes extremely deep. For those unfamiliar with Ashtanga it is a standard series of poses. The classes focus on the primary series with variations that are slightly different each time. He offers two types of classes one guided yoga class style and another which is self guided called Mysore. I have not yet been to the Mysore classes. In the guided classes he emphasizes good technique and quality of movement. He will challenge your preconceptions of yoga. He is respectful of your personal space but will assist you in positions if you desire. I have gone to yoga classes for several decades at this point and this is hands down one of the best classes offered.

I went to Troy's class for the first time this morning and was very impressed. He is very experienced and cares about advancing his students practice. He gave me an intro to Ashtanga yoga since I was new to that tradition and I learned a ton in the 2 hours I was there. I would definitely return when I'm in Seattle again.

I have been fortunate enough to have studied with very skilled and talented teachers around the world in both led and self practice styles. Although I was only passing through town for work and could enjoy 3 classes while here in 2010, Troy's was easily one of the best yoga experiences I have had in 16 years of practicing. What I took away from only three classes has informed my yoga practice since.

Teachers like Troy are one of the reasons that yoga has been around this long. Clear, intelligent, and discerning in his teaching. Troy provides consistency, guidance, encouragement (a little), and challenges (a lot!) that help you get closer to whatever it was that drew you to yoga in the first place. His steadfast and creative dedication to the practice brings together an amazing community of practitioners that is diverse in visible and invisible ways.

This the best yoga in Seattle. This the where all the other yoga teachers go when they are not working. Troy has a intuitive sense with each student and is especially good with injuries or working through a tough spot in your practice.

Troy teaches what he was taught by Richard Freeman and K. Pattabhi Jois. He is dedicated to teaching class in the way he was taught. He has a great sence of humor while teaching. Then again he is all about helping you challange yourself. He is one of the few teachers that I feel totally open and free to talk about anything with. We have went to lunch together a number of times and he has never turned me down in a time of need. He is the first teacher that I have done work tra

Troy is a highly intuitive and experienced teacher, I have learned a great deal in his Mysore and led classes. Troy is great at explaining and demonstrating body adjustments to get poses right. He is real and relatable, but has all of the qualities of a master of the art. The space he teaches in is wonderful. Troy's Acme Yoga is just the kind of yoga studio I had always been looking for: strong foundation, intelligent guidance, and a lot of room for growth.

I think yoga is definitely one of the " fountains of youth" ,and there is no one better to help you splash around in it than Troy. Whether you are a wise sage of yoga or a newby, he will help you find your way and keep you challenged. He is very grounded and consistent, yet he maintains a sense of humor keeping things fun! Do yourself a favor , start practicing or keep practicing!:)

Nothing gets better than Troy Lucero's yoga. He offers inspiring, challenging classes three mornings each week. I look forward to his Saturday morning class - it's the highlight of my week. And to judge from the number of dedicated practitioners in that class, it's the highlight of a lot of people's weeks. Troy also offers Mysore style independent study every weekday morning, starting at 6:30 (show up and get to work anytime before 11). I've been doing yoga since the 70's - yeah! And Troy is the best teacher I've found yet - YEAH!

I LOVE ACME YOGA PROJECT! I highly recommend this studio to everyone, whether you are brand new to yoga or an experienced advanced practitioner. The studio is welcoming and everyone is extremely kind. The space is fantastic: extremely spacious, airy, with evenly-leveled hardwood floors, sky high ceilings and natural sunshine. If you have never tried independent study before, Troy will guide you from the very beginning. He is a highly skilled teacher who will respect your pace and makes it fun to learn so that you will be inspired to keep coming back for more. For the experienced practitioner, he will help you grow stronger and to overcome any weaknesses you may have. For example, I arrived with a back injury and had travelled from studio to studio seeking help with no relief. Troy knew immediately what to do and what to teach me so that I would heal. I felt better the moment I walked out of the studio on the very first day. Troy sees potential in you that you cannot see in yourself. With his encouragement and assists, I am now able to do things that I never thought would be possible! He gives us all goals and challenges as he cares about the growth of each student. He is a warm teacher who is patient, listens to you and is also eager to answer any questions you may have. The led classes are also incredible. I have taken several and they are completely different from one another and I learn something new each time. I always leave feeling uplifted, energized and accomplished. Finally, I am currently driving 30 miles in traffic, 6 days a week to practice at Acme Yoga Project and it is absolutely worth it. I am not based here and I am jealous of the Seattleites who have access to this studio year round. Since practising at Acme Yoga, I am visibly stronger and have seen my practice grow tremendously. I am so grateful and I can't thank you enough!

I'm far from the first picture that comes to mind when one thinks of a yoga practitioner. I've been through a lot of different fitness programs, gyms, and commitments throughout my life, and a good deal of them have had some offering of yoga. What makes Troy Lucero's Acme Yoga Project unique and worthwhile for me is multifaceted: #1. Yoga classes at other studios have left me feeling a few beats behind the rest of the people in class. I look around struggling to bend my body into the pose that my classmates all seem to be doing in perfect rhythm. In Troy's classes, the instructions are clear and reasoned with several simple prompts to have the poses self-reference based on what is taking place for my own body. #2. The Mysore classes are incredible. I'd shied away from Mysore because my initial thoughts were that "self-guided" was for advanced practitioners, and I didn't feel confident in my understanding of the sequence. I spoke with Troy about my reluctance, and he encouraged my to think of it not as an advanced class, but rather like spending time with a friend who knows a lot about yoga, and shares it in personal conversations. The shift in thinking was totally right. While there are incredible yogis doing work that boggles the mind on the next mat over, there are also people who are just learning the basics as well. Troy started me at the basics, and we build out further and further as my knowledge base and ability grow. Sometimes its a small conversation, sometimes it's just uninterrupted room to practice. #3. The space. Century Ballroom in the Oddfellows building is gorgeous. Hardwood floors, and high ceilings in a stunning historic style. There is no music, just the beauty of the room, and the sound of people working quietly on improving their bodies, minds, and emotions, and the library level conversational instruction. It's a beautiful way to start the day. #4. The instruction. Troy and the assistant instructors are incredibly helpful. There are times when an injury, or a limitation of some sort needs to be worked around. The breadth of experience that Troy has acquired makes for a loaded toolbox that he's ready to open up and share for to help adapt one's practice to both give room for the injury or limitation to mend, while still having a practice that is challenging and rewarding. The slow, persistent build of the sequence is also valuable. On day one, I felt challenged and used up--in the best sense--as I departed from the practice. On my most recent visit, I felt challenged and used up--in the best sense--but had a much larger set of movements. There is also the use of teacher-assisted poses, where through some very thoughtful and intentional engagement through, pulling, leaning, counterbalancing, and pushing helps to deepen a stretch or accomplish something that one doesn't know is possible without being acted on by a gentle outside force. It's incredible. #5. The tone. I've been in spaces where yoga is revered to a point of spiritual ecstasy and carries some church-like devotional hush-toned voice of woo. What I like about Troy Lucero's Acme Yoga Project is that the value of yoga is inherent. The calm that you get out of your practice is transcendence enough. The physical health that you earn is worth the joy of a body working to be in the best shape it can be in brings. The result of a scientific and humanist approach is a culture that doesn't over-inflate or under-value the practitioner, the practice, or the instructor.
