Awesome spot. Really helpful staff that doesn’t try to shove anything down your throat, but instead provides useful advice. Not to mention they have a great selection of fly fishing gear. Really quaint welcoming spot for those new to the sport as well as veterans.

Visited this shop while in town for a work trip, picked up some leaders and talked to Joe and Sam for a bit. Super impressed on how helpful they were to a newbie to fly fishing, no cool guy act even toward someone from out of state. Definitely will make this shop my go to spot when I'm in town. Thanks guys!

As a spin cast fisherman there is a mystique around fly fishing that can create a bit of anxiety when undertaking the sport. The crazy casting, tiny hooks and retractable tools can create an artificial barrier to entry.From the moment I walked into The Avid Angler (clad in motorcycle gear), the owner and every member of the staff greeted me and made me comfortable as I wandered the isles and marveled at the selection of gear. At the same time there were a number of seasoned anglers looking for very technical gear, but we were all treated with the same level of attention. After 20-30 minutes of conversations they set me up with a beginner rod and reel, recommended a measured approach to buying gear and provided access to a number of classes as well as other advice.I left with exactly what I was looking for and was surprised to be under budget. Value is subjective, but it does not get better than quality products at reasonable prices backed up by expert advice. The Avid Angler is easily the shop for all my future fly fishing adventures.

Overpriced + limited selection. But that’s not what this review is about. Came into the store looking for trout beads. Browsed about for 15 minutes, all the while being stared down by an employee. Finally find what I’m looking for, only to realize I left my wallet in my car. I tell the cashier as such and that I’ll be back momentarily, to which the other employee quips, “HA! A likely story.” I go and retrieve my wallet to come back and pay for my $3 trout beads. I ask the cashier if their older employees always insults paying customers. He plays it off by asking what I fish for. Customer service skills are lacking to say the least, especially from someone doubling my age.

I love this shop. I’ve gone in a few times and have called with questions regarding fly lines and reels. Each person I’ve talked to has gone out of their way to help me. A huge shoutout to Joe for his incredible customer service!

Great fly fishing shop! All the basics and a good team working the store. They are really dialed into the local and regional fishing scene. If they don't have what you want in the store, they will quickly order it for you with no obligation to buy. Easy parking too!

Best customer service I've ever received at any fly angling store. The staff is very knowledgeable and are more than happy to provide info etc on our local rivers and lakes. Also a great place to buy your tackle from at very reasonable prices.
