TASWIRA, an acronym for "Transformative Action for Sustainable Women's Initiatives & Resources in Africa"... A mission that was brought forth through their partnered community based organization in Mombasa, Kenya. The Bamburi Women's Empowerment Center was founded by Peter Bamford Ochieng, a previous pastor and now Founder/Principal to St. Peter's Mountain Children's School and Peter's Hope Organization. TASWIRA's mission is to address, educate, provide aid, and protect vulnerable communities. Empowering women's ability to compete in the global economy and closing opportunity gaps that exists internationally. The TASWIRA Gallery is Seattle's ONLY African Art Gallery and serves as a unique space for community building and events.
