Easy to use website, fast shipping. Over the years I have struggled to find a consistent supplier for materials. Most ceramic supply stores must be run by unorganized artists that are too "right-brained" to manage a business. Seattle Pottery Supply seems to be the exception. Every time I've ordered the orders have been shipped complete and promptly. I'm in Utah but Seattle Pottery Supply is now my go to supplier for clay pottery supplies and materials.

! Great raku firing. They don't carry 4 oz size anymore which makes me limit what I buy.

I was an employee at this business for a little over a year. The people on staff at SPS are incredible individuals, several of them are ceramic artists that have been practicing for years - there is so much knowledge tucked away in this small store. I understand that people have had bad experiences with employees in the past - as a former employee I can say it was extremely difficult to walk into SPS and feel good about working there when the business did very little to show respect to me for my effort. I agree that customer service is important - but I don't think you can expect underpaid experts in their fields to feel excited about helping customers when they aren't being compensated fairly for their time or expertise! The owner of the business is NOT an artist, he is an investor. Seattle Pottery Supply has not been about making clay and the arts accessible to the wider Seattle community - the owner cares more about marking up prices to make an extra buck than supporting the major community that he has invested in. As an employee I was unable to afford the products that we made and sold in house, even with my employee discount. Many of the products made in house were also variable in quality, which made it difficult for me to recommend their products, and difficult for customers who ended up with products that were simply not made right! It's sad to see such a staple in the Seattle ceramics community fall under such an unfair corporate model. I wish the owner cared more about the incredible people that he has been lucky enough to bring onto the team... but he couldn't care less. If you want to support a business that cares about the artists in your local community, I would take the extra time to visit the Clay Arts Center in Tacoma.

Unfortunately they got rid of their bulk clear glaze, which my cash-strapped school’s program has relied on. We have had to do experimentation with more expensive glazes, and reduce clear glazing in general. Also, clay quality can sometimes be variable.

I just want to give the biggest shoutout to billy. I had a school last minuete emergency and I was in dire need of some clay before my first class. Gave them a call and he was so kind and on a closed day he let me come in and buy my much needed school essentials. It was such a kind experience and I will for sure be coming back on an open day!

I had the most wonderful interaction with staffperson Becca, who patiently and thoroughly answered my all of my questions and beyond. I came away feeling empowered and educated in a really kind and welcoming conversation. Big difference from previous visits a few years ago.

My husband and I are total pottery “newbies” and from the minute we entered the building people were so helpful, attentive, and informative. They took time to explain products and to be sure we would have a great time learning to throw pots. They even gave us a discount on clay!!!

Such a cool place! I love the vast collection of pottery supplies. The staff is not terribly friendly, and I felt like more of an inconvenience than a welcome customer.I'll still be back, of course, but a smile or hello when people walk in wouldn't be a bad thing.
