Just wanted to say we happliy moved to Spokane and it is soo much better.. sorry to hear this place is still as horrible as ever and using and destorying children. Move out of Seattle and donit fast! So sad......Children deserve to be in school... to sacrifice the well being of children when there is so much evidence and so many other schools that have opened for in person is disgusting. Children are suffering and yet we are still paying taxes for teachers that are apparently non essential. I could not be more disappointed that I live near Seattle

I cannot believe they are striking, after two years of remote learning. And when the last strike was in 2018. Why were these issues not negotiated over the summer or over the previous school year? A strike should be a very last resort, given the massive impact to the 50,000 students who attend SPS and their families. I wish the union would stop using strikes as a tactic to get leverage over the school district.

After everything we went through with Covid and the isolation these kids had to deal with, you should be ashamed of yourselves for causing more anxiety these kids experience as you continue to strike. I will say what many, many parents I’ve talked to have said and that is that this is ridiculous and all of our children are feeling immense anxiety every day not knowing if or when they’re going to go to school. SEA and SPS both are at fault here and both need to take responsibility and do the right thing FOR THE KIDS.

I support Seattle teachers and SPS staff on strike! Our educators should not be the one our community is blaming for holding up the first day of school; that's all on SPS who refuses to bargain a fair contract that supports students and teachers. #SEAstrong

If your mission is to drive families out of Seattle, well done! SPS is poorly run as is. Throw in a self serving teachers union, and the kids come dead last. If there is any justice, when the parents keep pulling their kids (they will) your members will end up jobless.

Sad that this organization is still looking to barter for even more time off, more half days, and remote work at the expense of our children. This is more like a underground mafia than it is an association. Shame on you! We know what you're doing. It hurts families of color, single parent households, and minorities more than anyone else.

Absolute failure of what a union is supposed to be. They are "negotiating" within their own group, the SPS top heavy administrative staff NOT with the parents and students they are here to teach and protect.

The SEA has clearly decided to use children as a bargaining chip in the “war against covid”. While the rest of the country is allowing optional masking for kids in the coming weeks, the “Trust The Science” banner-wavers are now claiming they know better than everyone else.CDC has recently revealed that fabric masks don’t really work. Most studies show that kids are especially immune to covid (thank God!) and every one that wants the vaccine has it.Unmask our kids. Find another way to flex your power over Governor Inslee and Mayor Harrell. Kids don’t have the benefit of a union to represent them. You’re basically preying on the weak. Get off your high horse, allow parents to make health decisions for their kids. Go back to threatening to pull funding from campaigns or striking. Leave the kids out of it.

The most Orwellian group of “geniuses” that I have ever had the displeasure of sharing oxygen with. Keeping children masked while the rest of the world moves on from the “disaster” that was Covid. To date only 0.00769% of the worlds population has died from Covid-19. Academics should follow the science and stop playing politics. Teachers unions are no better than Mafias.

The teacher’s union has never benefitted me as an employee. After siphoning money from us every month, they make decisions that do not protect employees or their families from the Covid outbreak. The union reps are miserable excuses for human beings and there is no way any person can make a difference when going up against this trash union.

President Biden and Ambassador Linda Greenfield Thomas have both admitted publicly that the BDS is antisemetic in nature in a time with sharp increase in antisemetic attachks following a year of alarming rise and with attacks against jews per 100,000 are twice as many as against black Americans for a teacher union to take such a position is nothing short of vile, ignoring that Hamas covenant calls for killing of all jews and that leadership of the palestinian authority stated time and again that there is no place for Jews in a future Palestine and leadership of the BDS movement state clearly their goal ia to end israel and replace it with Palestine ... the one with no place for jews what kind of teacher perpetuate hate and empowers antisemitism ?

The Seattle Education Association is bigoted and disgusting in its adoption of a BDS resolution. More importantly, it defames the entire teaching profession to deliberately and officially spread lies about Israel. A sovereign nation being attacked by terrorists does not “bombard Gaza.” It defends its citizens. That you have the audacity to call yourselves educators is laughable. How can you be willfully ignorant and refer to yourselves as teachers?
