Thoughtful smooth sailing on the Alaska inland passage on the Seabourn Odyssey. The 450 passenger vessel never felt crowded and the staff were uniformly helpful and pleasant. There were some glitches but in the overall scheme of things they were dwarfed by what they did well. Major points for: nicely appointed, well designed staterooms with large balconies and small “living room” to break up things; a selection of movies and live TV, internet access (one device per person can be connected); live music nightly in two venues; excursions in each port; at least two bars open until midnight; fantastic meal in the Thomas Keller Grill. Some things they could do better: we did not have our own travel agent and the one they assigned us was simply terrible and went missing for weeks at a time. I tried to get a new “Seabourn agent” assigned but the outsourced service would not do that. Avoid a guy named Jeff! The direct Seabourn help line was fantastic and they made it happen. The Seabourn app and website for guests sailing is counterintuitive and not helpful. Sanity is maintained and questions answered by the guest services staff on level 7, and restaurant reservations are made through them. The announcements made by staff can not be heard in staterooms which is another miss. Breakfast steam table doesn’t keep hot items properly hot. Cold scrambled eggs etc not a great way to start the day. Uneven dinner quality in the main restaurant - frequently quite good but some notable misses. Perhaps must aggravating was the promise of ship port to airport travel arrangements in Juneau. Nope. Good luck and god speed. Called a cab when we got port side but did not need the aggravation and uncertainty. Overall, pretty impressive. I won’t hesitate to book on them again.

We sailed to Antarctica on Seabourn Venture & every aspect our journey was sensational. From the initial organisation to the facilities onboard… the staff, f&b, excursions. Of course the destination was exceptional but I’m so glad we chose Seabourn to take us there.

We took the Seaborne Odyssey from Juneau Alaska in June 2023. The ship was very nice and it was apparent they spent considerable effort on the meals. All of the food was first class especially the Grill. Unfortunately they only allow one visit to The Grill to per cruise. The servers and stateroom personnel were great. We were very disappointed with the pickup at the airport and having to drag our bags about with no assistance and the hotel in which they booked us. The all inclusive promise we thought was misleading. Basically it means a red or white wine choice is offered with meals. If you want a specific brand or even variety there is an up charge. Excursion are also in addition to the fare for the cruise. Good but could have been much better.

If you don’t mind being upsold and overcharged then Seabourn is the right cruise for you.We are yet to sail but am hoping the on-water experience is very different to our experience so far. Paying more than expected, and not being given transparent information on pricing and timing of specific activities as well as making decisions based on information that was not transparently shared. Very disappointed to date and feel like our concerns and interests were not being considered during the sales process.

We just finished a 21 day Carribean cruise on the Odyssey. The food and service were excellent, and the passengers who had previously been on Seabourn universally had good things to say. However the 21 days painfully exposed Seabourn’s lack of preparation for COVID and they seemed to be actively trying to cover up the extent of the problem. When passengers asked questions, we were given misinformation or lies, and when passengers were exposed to the virus, they were told not to say anything to other passengers. Multiple crew members would disappear from the cruise with the explanation that they all had prolonged reactions to booster shots. On the final day of the cruise, we were all retested. Repeatedly throughout the cruise we were told that if you don’t hear anything in 30 minutes, you’re negative. After waiting in my cabin for two hours and not being notified, I went to happy hour and dinner, interacting for six hours with friends and crew. After a long evening I returned to my cabin to find test results on my bed saying that I tested positive. I immediately called the ship’s physician, Dr Le Grange who told me that because the ship was testing so many people, there was no way to inform people in a timely manner of positive test results. He also told me that I was asymptomatic! When I asked him how he knew that, he became very defensive and combative and hung up on me. That was the last contact that I had with medical personnel on the Odyssey. To this day, two weeks later, I have not been contacted to ask me about contacts nor to enquire as to my well-being. It is obvious to me as well as to other passengers with even worse experiences that Seabourn was only interested in continuing a cruise under dangerous circumstances without concern for my safety or the safety of other passengers. Keeping things quiet and keeping the cruise going were paramount. With such a lack of concern for passenger safety, I would never consider a Seabourn cruise again, even in light of a delightful cruise in many ways, because they were untrustworthy, and I would never recommend them. There are plenty of other competent alternatives. As a physician, I would like to think that I have some insight as to how the cruise could have been operated more safely. I saw no competent handling of the pandemic onboard the Seabourn Odyssey. Since leaving the ship I have heard from continuing passengers how crew staffing diminished noticeably with a lack of servers in the restaurants. Other cruise lines are shutting down temporarily because of safety concerns. It is unclear why Seabourn has taken a completely opposite approach.

I KNOW IT HAS BEEN A GOOD 20+ YEARS SINCE I SAILED WITH SEABOURN, BUT I CAN ATTEST THAT THERE IS NO BETTER CRUISE LINE IN THE WORLD. I SAILED ALONE BUT HAD A GREAT TIME. GOT MY OWN PRIVATE ENGINE ROOM TOUR. WENT TO THE BRIDGE, AND HAD EXTRAORDINARY MEALS. NEVER ONCE DID I HAVE THE FEELING OF BEING ON A CROWDED SHIP. CLASS EXUDES ON EVERY LEVEL. AS SOON AS I RETIRE, I WILL BE BOOKING A CRUISE ON SEABOURN.

You pay 3-4x for a cruise than you would pay on another cruise line. For this price you would think the service would be outstanding. But it is horrible!!!! The first time I had to call them after booking, I was on hold for over 20 minutes before talking to anyone in person. Then I was transferred to 3 different people (again holding for long periods of time) until I finally got someone who knew how to do anything. Not at all impressed so far. My advice is not to give them your money until all of your arrangements are booked, including transfers. The agents booking the cruise were very friendly and attentive. Any wait times on the phone were short, they returned calls promptly and were knowledgeable and friendly. After they get the big chunk of money for the cruise, the service changes drastically for the worse. UPDATE:I stand by my initial review of the phone support — it’s horrible. But the cruise itself was great and the service was excellent on board. The food was very good with the exception of the steaks. They are very dry European style cuts. The small ship was very nice in some respects, but there aren’t a lot of activities like on the larger boats. The pools are VERY small. They aren’t big enough to actually swim and none of them are under cover. Definitely very luxurious but pluses and minuses.

Great 10 Day cruise in the Mediterranean. Some of the best food I’ve had was on this cruise. Fantastic in room dining with white table cloth in setup. Any meal served in the dining room was also available in the room each night.
We had a spacious room with balcony.
Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a luxury cruise experience with great destinations.

Seabourn Cruise Line is my very favorite cruise experience, because the crews on my Seabourn cruises have been universally friendly, attentive, and attractive. The food is divine, and the dining is reminiscent of a state dinner, with crystal, fine linens, impeccable service, outstanding meals, and complimentary wines and spirits.
Passengers are relaxed, come from all backgrounds, and are delighted to be on board. Every stateroom is palatial, so choose one, invite your friend, and sail away on what is likely to be the best vacation of your life.
