Visiting my daughter who lives in Columbia City. I shopped at this Safeway last week. It was the dirtiest grocery that I’ve ever seen. The store floors, self-check out areas were filthy and fruit & vegetable area was in poor shape. Shame on you Safeway!

While this much better than nearest 3 Safeway it is still not great and very expensive. They are not always fully stock so most times when I want buy something they are out. They also don't rent the carpet cleaner unless you have credit card which you can rent elsewhere with debit card like Walmart, Lowes and Home Depot. Overall is okay store compared to the other nearby Safeway stores but if you are on budget or do large weekly grocery shopping I would suggest shopping somewhere else. But if you just want prepare a quick dinner, lunch for day is okay. There was also some dirt on chicken I bought twice which I washed but they definitely need to improve the meat section of the store. Unfortunately they have been several reports of violence around the store during evening hours so be cautious.
UPDATE: The employee at bakery she was extremely rude towards me when I asked if they carry an item I was looking for. ? She could simply say No, Yes or We are out instead being really nasty towards me for no reason as I ask her nicely.

Rainer Beach location is just ok. Problem is druggies, Dealers, but worse is addition of gangs, and wannabes.

12/21/23 , I was charged double their sales price. Even after showing the manager my receipt and their weekly advertisement, he would not honor the advertised price. He stated that I needed to have or use 2 rewards to get the sale price. It states clearly in their ad that the sales item I bought, you get a bonus of 2x the reward points, not that you have to have 2 rewards.False advertising is nothing new for Safeway:In June 2023, a lawsuit was filed against Safeway for allegedly bamboozling nearly a million California shoppers with deceptive deals. In April 2023, Safeway and Albertsons agreed to a $107 million settlement to resolve a class action lawsuit claiming they falsely advertised their products.

Absolute mayhem in this store today before the " cold" weather moved in. Witnessed a full on fight at 5:00pm. The police came and completely made the store even worse than it was before the fight, by blocking the 3 check checkout aisles that was 15 people deep. The self check out area had over 30 people in it at one time. The security guards just stood there and let the fight happen. Right in the entry way with kids and elderly walking in. The employees were nervous and couldn't keep up and were so rude on top of it. There was no bags to check out. There was no carts, no baskets and everyone was so rude when asked for very simple things to shop with. You should shut down and start over. It was so unsafe in there. Shame on management and the whoever the operations director is.

I'm done with the Rainier Beach Safeway. If you don't check your receipts on a regular basis, you'll be conveniently charged the regular price instead of the advertised sale price. Happened several times over the years. Usually showing the manager their weekly ad is enough to get a price adjustment. Yesterday, I was charged double the sales price. It's clearly printed in Safeway's weekly ad: if you purchased at least 4 regular Digiorno pizzas' you pay $5.99 each. Instead I got charged $11.98 each. Even after reviewing the ad, this manager would not honor the advertised price. He said you needed to have 2 Safeway reward points to get the sales price. On their website its states that you get double the reward points for that purchase, not that you have to have or use 2 reward points to get the sale price. My annoyance turned to irritation as the manager was dismissive; that my concerns had no validity. If he asked another manager for confirmation, I'm sure this would've been easily resolved. But he insisted I had to have 2 reward points and walked off. I ended up returning the pizzas'. Got home and filled out an online complaint, but I doubt anything will come of it. I'm taking my business to other South Seattle grocers like, Trader Joe's, Vegetable Bin and Maruta.
