I've shopped at this Fred Meyer pretty much since it opened in 1999. It always was well stocked and well staffed. Unfortunately, this store has really gone downhill over the past two to three years. There was a long period of ridiculous shopping cart shortages, and I came to think that a Fred Meyer trip was not complete without some item I wanted being unavailable. The customer service desk is always understaffed, with long wait times. While I find the security guards checking my receipts annoying, I understand the crime and pilfering challenges this store is facing. This is not an excuse, however, for letting this store decline. Please get this store back on track: have items in stock and improve staffing levels, especially at the customer service desk.

So first of all this is a review about the private security Fred Meyer has chosen to harass customers leaving their store, I spent $65+ at Fred Meyer on Tillamook cheese, synergy kombucha and some spindrift sparkling water.while leaving the store after using self checkout my grocer bag handles broke so I was caring everything as I approached security guards guarding exit I dropped my receipt when asked for it because my hands were full in front of a not tall very tall caucasian, security guard who followed me outside and was shouting obscenities to me such as that I was a dog, and I need to clean up after myself and he was being super hostile. I called Fred Meyer later when I got home and customer service just seemed annoyed I was calling and it appeared they were unwilling to confront their privately hired security about them harassing paying customers.

I've been shopping at the Ballard Fred Meyer for years now with zero incident. Recently I made some purchases and they stopped me at the door and demanded my receipt in front of several customers. I was extremely embarrassed and handed over my purchased items with the receipt and left the store, then out of getting upset I returned to the store and confronted the security team and the manager said he was sorry for the accusation and that he was trying to keep the theft to a minimum, I stated that I haven't stolen anything and that I work for the state. I also told him that the shoplifters are the ones carrying duffle bags and backpacks, not grocery bags accompanied with receipts. Second situation same thing happened, they made another seen until I showed my receipt, very embarrassing, I am not a thief. I have zero criminal record, zero speeding tickets, work a respectful job, I spend literally thousands of dollars there and get treated like a criminal. If they dont trust paying customers they need to watch people pay and leave instead of demanding receipts for proof of not committing criminal acts against the store. I watched several other paying customers get accused of theft as well while watching backpack shoplifters just walk out without any resistance.

This store location always has missing products, and the store associate's are rude. Especially the managers. Home manager & grocery manager disrespect their employees. Kroger is a union job, and they do absolutely nothing for the employees. Apparently the managers can create a hostile environment and curse at employees. UFCW does not care as long as Fred Meyers company is making money. I quit for these reasons, and I know a few others who have quit for same reasons. The ones who stay are favorably liked by the mgrs so they don't ever see the problem. Regardless it is a market, and you can get essentials. Lots of homeless camp inside the store and do drugs in the bathroom. And steal in plain sight. No officers or security do anything about it.

I talked to a friend today that has been shopping at this Fred Meyer for many years, as she lives very close and goes there quite often. She was telling me that they now have a security check and you have to show them your receipt when leaving the store. She usually goes there about 9:30 PM on her way home from work. She told me she was upset as last five times she went there, they checked her receipt about 3 times, but she noticed they did not check any other people leaving the store, only her. As I said, she has been shopping there for many many years and they should know her face by now and not ever check her receipt!! I did let her know that I was at the Fred Meyer on 175th and Aurora and they have a security that checks every persons receipt. Not sure what this new policy is but it doesn't seem fair or right. It seems to me as they should check every person every time and not pick and choose., or not check anyone?? What's going on Fred Meyer?

Since I moved to Seattle, people around me have been raving about Fred Meyer as the best grocery store. I finally made it to Fred Meyer recently. I saw a review about not being able to use the bathroom here because no one knew the bathroom code, but that wasn't the case for me. When I asked a staff about the bathroom, he was quick to contact someone near the restroom via walkie talkie and I was guided to the restroom without a hitch. So I guess whether you make it to the restroom depends on who's working at the time. The place is huge and I wondered how staff is allotted for each section, but the employees seem to get along and I felt overall a good vibe at the store. The store not only has regular grocery goods but also an entire gardening supply section and even some furnitures. Seems like a good one-stop-shop where I would visit more often if I live closer.

Customers just have to retrieve their own carts from the parking lot. The young person collecting carts was bringing just one at a time, while 4-5 people were in the lobby looking for a cart. I spent about 10 minutes shopping. My shopping partner went to use the restroom, in 10 minutes and 5 employees later she gave up, no one knew the code, no one would let her in. No one would be so bothered to call a manager. So we left, we left a cart full of groceries so we could go find a bathroom. I will buy my plants, plant food, groceries, socks, shampoo, and soap another day, and at another store. If this was the first time I left without my groceries, I would consider it a one off but this is the standard at this store lately. Prices are higher and higher, and yet I have to fetch my own cart, bag my own groceries, and there is simply no customer service. I have been a loyal customer for over 15 years, after the last couple months, today was the final straw, I will not be back. If I could give zero stars, I would.

This store got 90% of our business but it has dropped brands and products over last 2 years so we have to complete our shopping at other stores. Their carts have squared wheels and are usually in the lot not the store. This is not a worker issue. It is a management-ownership issue. Stay away!

This has been our Fred Myer for just over 7 years. We enjoy the selection Fred Myer provides. We're big Saturday or Sunday morning shoppers. This place can get pretty busy. Our favorite checkers are Vinod (OG checker) or Nan. They are super fast behind the checker. Stay away from the in school nurse guy, he'll talk your ear off and check super slow. We park two lanes north of the south entrance and we always have good luck finding a spot. Do yourself a favor and stop by Freddie's!

First timer. A little bit for everyone. As expected. Shop here for 1 stop shopping if you need bread and milk, a new sports bra, deck screws, a bird cage and flowers and a Valentine's Day card.

I got to say I moved to PDX in the spring of of 1978. Always loved FM 39th and Hawthorne. But in the last few years evened before Kroger , FM went to Kroger went to shit. And now, real shit !! Produce before was best in town. I delivered produce and Freddy's back dock would insert every pallet , every lever layer, box by box. Now they advertise every hour or much more there fresh produce and it's sub par.

I received terrible service from the pharmacist working at this location, Lam Dang. She made unprofessional comments throughout our interaction and I will not be returning to this pharmacy location in the future.

By far one of the nicest fred Myers I've been to. The Asian lady that runs the check out your self area is really nice and helpful everytime I come in. The rest of the employees need to take lead behind her on customer service because she knows how to treat people. So that's the only down side for here . They need to pick it up in customer service. But the store is always so clean and full of products. And the do have a few different pumps here for electric car people. No gas at this location. Sometimes I travel farther to come here because how nice it is. A little hi or greet can go a long way.

Headed Downhill They used to have a nice area where people could eat what they bought. Now it is roped off. Covid? Yeah, maybe in 2020, but everywhere else has opened up. So customers now have to eat outside where there are no amenities. They used to sell good sandwiches and could heat up deli entrees. No more. They claim they are short on staff, but if you look at the prices you will realize they are making plenty of money and could hire if they need to, they just don't want to. I spoke with management about this, and did not get much of a reply. Try QFC. They value their customers, offer great deals and eating amenities, and have managers who listen to the public. Leave Fred Meyer to people who are not smart enough to realize when they are at the wrong place.
