February 2024 by Ricardo I.
I've been working out with two friends who wanted to start lifting. They knew nothing so I offered to work out with them. They'd tag along and do my exercise routine with me for months. After the winter holidays as we were leaving the club after our workout, we were stopped by a woman named Erin who said she worked in the back office. She said that a personal trainer on staff had accused us of using the gym for personal training. She then threatened to cancel our gym memberships if this did not stop. I asked her to clarify what she meant by "personal training" because my friends and I workout together and have done so for months. She said that personal training was working out with coaching. I pressed for more clarification because I was still confused. She didn't offer much more that was helpful except to say, "it's pretty black and white." She also called the fitness manager Dave "obnoxious." Talk about professionalism. I'm disappointed that PNW Fitness would allow an employee to approach their paying customers in such an unprofessional manner. First, Erin did not cite any gym policy or refer to our membership agreement during the discussion. Suspiciously, one of my friends was treated poorly by a trainer after he decided not to purchase personal training. As Erin couldn't define the prohibited activity, I am inclined to believe that the complaint that started this was motivated by the trainer my friend decided not to hire. Second, she did not provide any written documentation describing the alleged infraction(s). So I reached out to Rafael, the club's manager of operations. At first he was helpful, and said he'd request a statement from the accusing trainer and discuss the incident with the personal training team. He also said that someone from their corporate office would reach out to me. That was over a month and a half ago. I have received no contact from anyone at PNW Fitness since. I've reviewed the membership agreement and it's a complete joke. It says, "Personal Training. Member and/or Member's guest will not perform or receive any personalized training with any other members or non-members." With that vague language, anyone offering to spot a friend or suggest an exercise could be kicked out. Also, the member agreement prohibits cell phone usage on the gym floor and just about half of everyone there is on their phone all the time. In the time since this incident, I've heard a trainer say the F-word loudly twice on the gym floor, I've seen a trainer in plainclothes clearly training their friend on the bench press, and I've seen multiple members teaching their friends exercises, which would also be in violation of the member agreement. I do not recommend PNW Fitness because they choose if and when to enforce their rules. When a member complains about what they believe is unfair, no follow up.

Worst customer service ever. I advise you not joining this gym. After you sign the contract ( and they pressure you saying that if you don’t sign right away they will increase the price) you have to do multiple steps to cancel the subscription and they KEEP charging you! They charged me 3 months after clearly telling them I was not coming back. Don’t recommend it at all!

NOT WORTH IT!Deceptive claims from the sales rep, Richard Thomas, that there would be no charge for pausing my membership. Nothing mentioning a fee for pausing the membership in the contract so I took it at face value. I have since contacted customer service via email in writing asking them to answer for the deceptive practices and nothing.TLDR:Hidden ancillary fees that are not included in the contract. They will email saying that they have policies for fees charged but wont tell you until its time to bill you. Cancellation is a pain even when you follow the procedure and they add additional charges to cancel.

Great gym! My son and I worked out there for 3 days during our recent visit from Los Angeles. Super easy to buy day passes. The gym has everything you need to have an awesome workout. Highly recommend!

The gym itself is fine but the staff is really incompetent. Not feeling safe after yesterday’s hostage situation.

This is a great neighborhood gym. The staff is friendly, the equipment works, it is clean, and the trainers are awesome particularly if you are interested in getting a gender illusionist as your trainer.

No-frills large gym, with lots of weight training and cardio equipment. Also offers some classes. Reasonable rates, and very gay friendly.

Cancellation here seems impossible. I moved across town so this place is no longer a reasonable gym to go to and started trying to cancel over a month ago. They refused to accept cancellation in person, gave an email address, and are now refusing to accept cancellation via email, and continues to attempt to charge money well after the fact. I went here for 5+ years and the gym itself is decent, but the cancellation process is now clearly so god awful that I'd encourage my friends to find another gym in the neighborhood.

I am writing this review because I am a member of this gym who is tired of dealing with broken equipment and broken plumbing. Call a d*** plumber! What is wrong with you? Plumbing broken for months -- are you kidding me? No excuses.Broken equipment I can understand - maybe there isn't a new machine available. But the machine in this photo has been broken since around September or August of 2022. It is now just about February 2023. Again, this needs to be fixed. No excuses. Get your act together. I will update this review if these issues are fixed, but as of now, unless this is the only gym in your area and you don't have a car, I would advise you to go elsewhere.

People are not friendly here. For an extra price you have access to a private locker room where thirsty boys are known to mess around in. Creepy guys love to keep the shower curtain open and stare at you while you change. You’ll see two people in the stalls sometimes. People are very standoffish here for no reason.

Been going to this gym since it was Gold's a few years back. Love the atmosphere and how gay friendly it is! The staff is always wonderful to work with and super helpful. Spinning class on Wednesday with Justin is so much fun! They replaced all the machines a few years back and they keep them all maintained. Highly recommend!

A gym with heart! I used to go here before I moved away in 2019. I am back visiting and have been greeted warmly by all staff. Same great instructors and well-kept equipment. Highly recommend!
