Always enjoy popping through. Get to chat war stories and it's apparent the staff are all deeply passionate and excited about cycling. Also the only store in town that carries the best carb gel on the market 💪

Every time I deal with the folks at Montlake Bicycle Shop I leave with a smile on my face. The staff are so friendly, they do honest work and take great care of their customers. Can't recommend this neighborhood shop more, you're in great hands with them. Thanks y'all!

Rented a carbon road bike for 24 hours and had an awesome time exploring the city and Lake Washington. Rental came with helmet, lock, and SPD pedals (if desired). Great experience!

The staff are awesome. Super knowledgeable, and very welcoming no matter how dumb my questions are.

For many of us getting our bikes maintained is simply making sure that we make it from point A to point B as safely as possible, and for many of us: we are willing to pay some money to make sure that work is done properly. I own a few bikes for different purposes; touring, commuting, and off road bikepacking. Montlake silently operates only on bikes they want to work on regardless of what you’re told over the phone. So you’ll head over to have work done so you can safely start riding again, and can be turned down immediately if they don’t feel like working on it (even if the service you need done is on high quality parts they actually sell in the shop like Magura MT5’s). Their level of business seems to be going well enough that they can pick and choose the jobs they take, but what I experienced was nothing short of weird and aggressive. Most of the staff are actually pretty cool; a dedicated bunch of cycle heads that want to help you out (and the front of house customer service is pretty solid), but a few of the techs are downright pretentious, aggressive, and their egos seem to supersede their wrench turning ethics of making sure people get from point A to point B safely regardless of what type or brand of bike that you, the customer, chooses to ride.
There is a full service bike shop exactly 1 mile from this location called Recycled Cycles. They are filled with knowledgeable, dedicated, and friendly folks that do not have an ounce of pretentiousness in them. I highly, highly recommend saving yourself the time and heading there instead of Montlake Bike Shop. Their service prices and parts are cheaper, their storefront is staffed with more folks with less wait times for general questions and help picking out parts for whatever project you’re working on, and they straight up don’t care if you’re making a frankenvehicle with used bike parts (they will literally go dig in the parts bins with you to help you find what you’re looking for). I’ve never had a single bad interaction at that shop, ever.
With a solid full service bike shop a mile away from Montlake with cheaper prices, nicer sales and service staff, and overall better experience without weird marked vendettas: there is no reason for me to ever recommend Montlake Bike Shop again for any reason. A lot of the staff at Montlake are friendly and nice, yet some of the techs seemed to have graduated high school but their egos never actually left.
Save yourself the time, hassle, money, and look elsewhere for your bike needs; you genuinely aren’t missing anything.

This is a great shop all around. I try to buy all my bikes here and I definitely do all my road, gravel and MTB maintenance here. It’s owned by local people who live biking. Have been doing business here for years and will continue to do so. They are fair, honest, knowledgeable and pleasant.

Honestly the best bike shop I’ve ever been too. The staff is honest, helpful and knowledgeable, I know nothing about bikes and they were able to help me with my seat post and cut it down for my specific needs. I highly recommend them not only did they help me out but called other bike shops in the area looking for the parts I needed. Great atmosphere and great help.

Made a same day bike rental & it was one of the best decisions of my trip! Was very quick to get helped and I was off biking immediately. Hybrid bike was very nice to use with suspension and a tubeless setup. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful during the rental and return process

Great bike shop with a wide selection. I rented a bike for a day and it came fully equipped with tools, a pump, flat tire repair kit, and holders for water bottle. Bike was in great condition and a joy to ride. Great service too.

Love this shop. The latest... my bike got stolen... it had a Montlake Bike Shop sticker on it... the finder called the shop... they had my purchase records from SEVERAL years ago... and they contacted me to let me know how to get my bike back! Now THAT'S service.

Shout out for Montlake’s customer service! So rare these days. No high pressure sales, just lots of solid information. Very helpful.

I’ve taken my bike here a few times. Most recently, I took it in for a tuneup. After getting it back and taking it on a test ride, a fluke mechanical issue caused quite a bit of damage to the gearing. It was a really weird situation where they probably could have denied any sort of responsibility; however, they were very understanding and ended up helping me out (Josh was great). I’ll definitely continue coming here, and would recommend them to anyone looking for a LBS in Seattle.
