This place lost my business today. I have been taking my dog to Green Lake Animal Hospital for years but will immediately begin a search for a new vet. I was going to be 14 minutes late to an appointment today due to an accident on the freeway compounding already terrible Seattle traffic. I understand that there is a 10 minute grace period, I really do, such a thing is needed to keep scheduling running smoothly. But whatever they intend to do with this policy clearly does not work. I would not be upset about the need to reschedule today if it weren't for the sheer hypocrisy and audacity of this business to have such a policy so strictly enforced, when every single appointment I have had with them starts with them parking me in the waiting room for AT LEAST 15 minutes before moving me to an exam room, where I wait AT LEAST that long again. This is all before anyone comes to see you apart from front desk staff. I have been holding these complaints in for a while, because finding a new vet is a hassle, but this is the last straw. This business does not care about its customers.

I I moved to Seattle when my dog was well in her senior years (~12 years old) and I trusted Dr. Spencer at Green Lake Animal Hospital with her entire life, and I don’t say this lightly! Unfortunately, our sweet Lucky crossed the rainbow bridge a few months ago at 15 years old, but she was so loved for and cared for at GLAH. Dr. Spencer took the time to get to know our dog and build a relationship with her (she was quite shy and coy). She even had her favorite treats ready for her during each visit. Dr. Spencer also always reviewed practical and realistic options with us, given Lucky’s older age and I always felt like she had Luckys best interest at heart. She never pushed any procedures or tests on Lucky, rather prioritized Luckys comfort and quality of life. Whenever we were awaiting results, Dr. Spencer would make sure to give me a call (or check in) even on weekends and after-hours because she knew it would always give me peace of mind.
When it came time for the heartbreaking decision to let Lucky cross the rainbow bridge, Dr. Spencer was incredibly supportive and comforting and you know that she genuinely felt the love and loss we felt too. She sent us a card in the weeks following and I felt so incredibly comforted and supported during such a hard time. I’m so thankful to Dr. Spencer and the team at GLAH for loving our Lucky like their own ❤️❤️

The staff is terrific and so is their use of technology! My regular office couldn’t get me in so they booked an urgent appt at Greenlake. The Greenlake texted me they had a regular appt open up and got me in at a significant savings. It was great instant communication. And, my pup was fixed up within an hour - on the way to healing.

I thought about this visit all night as I was up watching my dog. We came home to her having issues that looked quite a bit like shell fish toxicity to us. She was incredibly wobbly, weak, and didn't want to eat or drink. It came in waves she would be okish one moment and then it would hit her again. We had given her some of our shell fish the night before. The veterinarian we saw was very kind. However i felt as if they didn't even want to listen. They kept telling me it looked like Marijuana toxicity and asking if we had it in our home. We told them over and over we do not have it in our home, we don't smoke it, and we havent been to anyone's home recently. When my dog goes outside she is walked by us. They kept pushing about it so I said alright fine do the drug test. They did the drug test and of course it was negative. So then they said oh it was negative but there can be false negatives. Then it turned into bringing her home and watching her. No offer for subcutaneous fluids or anything else at all. Said if we left her there all they would do is watch her and if we were going to be home we could do the same thing. So now I've paid this bill for nothing other than them assuming I smoke weed and not even figuring out what the hec was going on with my dog. We got through the night and she seems to be improving now but I can honestly say I don't think we will return here. I get that a huge amount of folks use Marijuana now but I DONT because for one it makes me very sick and for two I don't want to. My husband does not use it either.

Came to a 7am appointment to drop our dog off for an ultrasound. "Can you tell me about what to expect today and a time schedule?" Paula then seriously said, without more detail, "an ultrasound". "Thanks but what does the timeline for pickup look like and can you explain more? Will he need to be sedated or anything?" Paula: "Sometime after 12:30. In my almost one year experience only a few dogs needed sedation" "Wow that's a long time, when is the ultrasound scheduled?" Paula: "depends on doctor's schedule, usually here after 9am. Not a pre-determined schedule" "Yikes, why am I dropping my dog off at 7am for an unknown time slot, two-plus hours away?" Paula: "there's a pre-exam and we monitor dogs after the ultrasound" "What goes into the pre-exam and monitoring?" Paula: "standard heart check, weight, and so on. We like to keep animals after ultrasound to make sure they are okay" "So like a 5min vitals check and then you want to be sure that laying down didn't hurt them? It sounds like my dog will be in a cage for at least two hours before a non-invasive simple ultrasound and then another indefinite amount of time in a cage for monitoring that seems unnecessary." Paula: "Yes and I just gave you an estimate. I can't say how long anything will take" It's sad to think animals are being treated this way. In no way is sitting in a cage this long acceptable when it's avoidable and no medical reason for it.

Highly recommend. Dr Spencer spent quite a lot of time explaining my pets condition. The vet techs were kind and helpful. I am VERY glad I found a vet for my cat.

We've been working with Green Lake Animal Hospital (GLAH) for several years to care for our two dogs and cats. We have been consistently impressed with the care, knowledge, and concern shown by the GLAH vets and the staff. Their hours are helpful, they are super responsive to email and voicemail, and have provided good guidance for our reactive pooch. They helped us through the cancer of one of our cats in a very compassionate way. Most recently they provided us with medication we'd run out of (our fault) in a really timely way - though I would've completely understood if they'd been unable to do so. They are amazing partners in keeping our pets healthy and happy, and I would recommend them highly to anyone looking for care.

Wonderful staff and very understanding. Did palliative skin tumor removal on our 15 year old lab which was a significant bloody necrotic mess before surgery and now we have our dog longer… happy lab

We boarded our cat who is diabetic for one week when we were out of town. She requires insulin shots twice a day. We were very impressed with the knowledge and skills of the medical staff. The front desk staff were very professional and patient answering our questions, We were pleased with the size of her enclosure as well as the individual. attention they gave her. When I communicated with them during our time away they were quick to respond with an update, patience, and even a photo of our kitty.
We would not hesitate to leave our cat with them in the future.
We felt she was in a safe facility so no need to worry.
When we fetched her she seemed relaxed and content.

We've been going to Greenlake Animal Hosp for more than 15 years for the care of our dog(s) - two over time. In general, the vets have provided very good to excellent care and it seems to us made reasonable recommendations as to follow-up medications. Only once did they miss a diagnosis which was caught and addressed by another vet in Seattle. In recent years, the costs have greatly increased (out of proportion to inflation) which has perplexed us--has private equity bought their practice? I'm afraid I have to assign 3 stars for another reason altogether: their front desk staff is routinely awful as another poster mentioned. Courteous, sincere, customer-oriented behavior is the exception not the rule. Whenever I am there, there are always two people at the front desk, often talking to each other, sometimes laughing, while I stand there patiently awaiting some attention. Eventually one of them looks up with a smirking impatient expression of "well, what do you want? Why are you standing there?" It's pretty insulting. If Greenlake A.H. doesn't train its front desk staff better, or hire people who understand they are in a service-oriented position, they are going to lose customers/patients despite the solid vet care they provide. That would be a shame.
