Such a nice idea in theory but in practice it was filthy. Cute and cozy is fine but unsanitary is not ok.

Amazing little theater with super friendly staff and comfy seats. Only about 50 seats though, so I’d recommend buying tickets ahead of time. So far I’ve seen two films here, and I plan to keep coming back.

IYKYK The Grand Illusion Cinema is the best place to catch a movie in Seattle. 100% volunteer run. One of the last places that still runs film in Seattle.

Very intimate indie theater. Pretty consistently has interesting programming so check their web presence for offerings. The signs showing you where the physical theater are might be easy to miss.

I love this place. Really. A wide variety of films from classics and cult flicks. Never thought I'd get to see Zodiac or TMNT (the original) on FILM ever again and this place did that for me. Thanks so much volunteers!

It's a landmark place! A movie theater like in the old times. I miss those. Small, cozy, clean, and super cute.

I came here to see the movie Slotherhouse. It was the best horror spoof I have ever seen. The theater itself has 1920s vibes with red velvet on every surface and stucco ceilings. Comfortable chairs, too. What it lacks in size, it makes up for in ambiance. There is a Mexican restaurant attached to the same patio as the theater entrance. We got food there, which was very tasty. Then we took our beers with us into the theater, which is allowed. The staff are all very nice volunteers. You can tell they enjoy their jobs.

Quaint and intimate vintage theater. Old movie from 1983 played today, October 14 2023. Offerings of candy and popcorn appeal to various ages. Hidden gem in U District. Seek this out!

Such a cute and fun little theater. Saw Neil Breen's latest masterpiece here. Very fun time. Would go back for another midnight movie.

Such a fun and atmospheric theater for a more intimate/old-school movie-going experience. A unique opportunity to see cult favorites on the screen or catch a well loved or unique movie that you may have missed over the years. I've seen Dazed and Confused a few times, but seeing it at the Grand Illusion in 35mm was a nostalgic treat. Reasonably priced concessions round out the experience, including popcorn, candy and soda in glass bottles.
