AWESOME customer service and knowledge about Seattle's history! Great things to buy! From greeting cards and trinkets to bags, books, EVEN JEWELRY! PLUS, it is RIGHT NEXT to the LIBRARY'S very own COFFEE SHOP... and if the coffee is from Seattle, you know it's gonna be GOOD!?

It's cute, but small (just a few shelves). Most merchandise is book/reading themed and not Seattle themed. There's also a few merch items based on the central library.

Best book deals! I love the FriendShop in the Seattle Public Library as there's always something here that every bibliophile would appreciate and love. It's a great place to shop at for any book lover. Located in the Seattle Central Library branch on the main level, the shop is not large, but the selection is quality. First off, there are always so many treasured books that are discounted, like four bucks for a vintage hardcover of a literary classic or two bucks for paperback best seller! You cannot walk into this library branch and miss out on the book deals here. Selection always changes, too, so it's worth coming back on a frequent basis. In addition to a wonderful selection of discounted books, there are also library-themed items, including Seattle Public Library goods, like totes, prints, Christmas ornaments, etc. The gifts you can find for book lovers here are plenty! From stickers, to journals, to even a set where someone can build their own library, with old school library slips to place in books for checking out and so on. It's pretty darn cool. Friends of Seattle Public Library volunteers that work here check in with customers, offering assistance and so forth. If you visit on the first Thursday of the month, items are discounted. Gotta love it.

Really sweet little shop inside the library. Stopped in for a couple of cards and walked out with the cards and some books as well. Great prices and fantastic quality on the used books.

Nancy is the best! She always makes me feel welcome. If you’re looking for a great new novel, collection of plays, cookbooks - literally anything - she’ll give you a big smile and point you to the perfect gift, author, or piece of the past. She’s the best part of the library!

Officious and self serving elderly woman who works here with the personality of Svengali literally threw the two postage stamps at me for the two postcards I purchased. Clearly a certain amount of cash must be spent in order to be treated like a decent human being. And clearly they don't care about this either.

I love shopping at the FriendShop, it is full of the cutest, most unique items. Since they are obviously closed I was thrilled to find lots of online options. Last week I purchased one of the boxed sets they offer, the Cat box set. I asked if it was possible to change out one item and Lisa, the manager, could not have been more helpful. Eager for the next birthday a friend has so I can gift some of the spectacular items in this set. Thank you FriendShop!

Best place to get tax returns done for free. Look for the free tax help on the 5th floor.

I wasn't able to visit on time, but the library is really nice. There were items for sale in every corner, so I was able to look around even when it was closed.

The children's book section is something like 20 times the size of our local branch's and was great to explore.

There are always friends at the Friendshop, but you can't buy them. However, you can join the Friends (of The Seattle Public Library) for $20 a year and get a 15% discount at the shop. Wonderful shop for all things library, including books for $1-$3, Seattle stuff, bags, jewelry, and most of all cards. On the 5th Ave side of the Library.
