If you want a community focused workout site with a variety of classes, this is the place for you! The teachers are amazing, too!

Ok for fitness, not great for yoga. This place is really mixed for me. I've been interested in trying out barre, and Andrea's is my favorite class I've found so far because it actually seems to have to do with dance conditioning and not just a fitness class that happens to have a barre involved. Yoga Sculpt was a little ridiculous but it was a good workout and somewhat fun, so I'd go again. But I have to say that vinyasa yoga here is very disappointing. I have been to the 10:45 Saturday class twice now, and while the flow was good, there are older men who appear to be regulars who talk and joke throughout the class, and the instructors go along with it. Yoga is a spiritual practice and moving meditation for me, so I found this very disrespectful and distracting. If they go every week and continue to take up space with their comments, then I will go elsewhere for yoga and recommend other serious practitioners do as well. I also found the regular teacher (Brenna) to be rather harsh in her corrections. I will continue to drop by for other classes periodically because of the location and price of classes, but I wish yoga was taken more seriously here.

I believe CF deserves all 5 stars for great classes (from yoga to hip hop dance) and a unique model of group classes only. Come as you want - pay as you come. Easy check in, water and towels made available. Many super talented instructors! I have few complaints but I think they would benefit from a few improvements in the restroom department. Their Roosevelt location is tight on parking so it can take some time and when you have fought the evening rush hour to get to class, you just want to snag a spot and go to the bathroom before the class starts. There are two women's and one unisex toilet (3 total). One of the women's stalls has been out of order for more than a week and there is almost no where to stand in line without being hit by the door. It was already tough not to be late for class but recently there is a huge line. It was already a long line but the upgrade to huge is annoying and I have been a bit disappointed that such a well run place has not been proactive in fixing this and even adding another toilet or way to make the bathroom logistics a bit easier. Another nice add would be updating schedules to represent substitute teachers as soon as that information is available for those of us who think the teacher makes the class. That said none of this detracts from a great model, great classes, nice variety, and very reasonable pricing model. I strongly recommend CF for those who enjoy classes for working out.

I give community fitness 5 stars but I tonight I had a very unpleasant experience with a brunette yoga instructor (Sunday evening class). She was very rude to me. This was the first time ever taking her this instructor's class so I didn't know where the front or back of the class was. I've taken other yoga classes here and generally the instructor sits in front of the mirror facing the room. She plopped down right in front of me and didn't acknowledge that she was actually sitting on my extra clothing that I brought. I said "oh I didn't realize this was the front of the class" and attempted to move my mat back to give her space. I was embarrassed to be smack dab in the front peering eye to eye with her. She said "well, where did you think the front of the class was?" I was stunned by this unprofessional and rude behavior. Very UN-namaste! Took everything in my power not to walk out. Won't be taking her class again.

Awful! You might get a great work out here but I would never know, as the customer service from the front desk person was pathetic and the people there to work out seemed just as bad, certainly not a place for everyone certainly not a community minded center in any way.

This is the smaller of the two Community Fitness locations. I love the variety of classes and the sense of community here. My favorite classes are Vinyasa Flow Yoga and Barre, both of which are taught here pretty regularly. They have a great variety of classes. If you're looking for a great workout and a good deal, Community Fitness is my favorite local option.
