We could not be more pleased with our beautiful table and experience with City Trees Furniture. The owner is a joy to work with and an amazing craftsman. We get so many compliments on it and it is just so gorgeous, well made, and unique. I highly recommend City Trees Furniture to anyone.

We recently purchased a live edge dining table from City Tree Furniture. We found Donald Smith's place a couple years back when we first considered a live edge table and started looking at various options around the area. Once we were ready it was an easy choice to go back to City Tree and shop in earnest. The table we chose was a bit too long for our needs and had interesting detail at both ends that we didn’t want to lose. Don was happy to trim a little from each end to achieve the exact length we needed without losing any of its essential character. He also delivered and set up the table in an expeditious and friendly manor. His handiwork is not inexpensive but his craftsmanship is well worth it.

My wife and I stopped by one day after seeing the signs for live edge funiture. We explained what we were looking for because we had specific dimensions and interest. Without hesitation Donald pulled out one unfinsihed grey board. He scraped off a bit of the grey to show us the beautifl rich color of the piece. It was exactly what we were looking for. A short time later we had our kitchen table, it is more than than a dinning table. It is a center piece as you walk into our home and without exception when someone comes in for the first time they stop and point out the table and comment on how beautiful it is. We absolutely love the work.

Terrific quality and unique, amazing pieces of art. Owner was incredibly helpful, knowledgable, and accommodating. He delivered my table all the way to West Seattle from his shop in Ballard. I'd recommend anyone in the market for a one of a kind coffee table, bench, or dining room table go visit this place. You won't find anything else like it.

What a hidden gem in Ballard. The owner had an amazing selection of beautiful pieces with countless customization options. He was knowledgeable about the different woods and clearly has a passion for his craft. Each piece is a work of art! Not only did the owner show us many options in the size range we were looking for, he kept our selection stored in his warehouse while we waited for custom legs. Then he delivered and installed legs in our home so we didn’t have to drive and transport the large table. If you’re looking for one-of-a-kind beautiful live-edge or reclaimed wood furniture, sold from a kind soul with a warm smile, City Trees Furniture is your store!

They had a couple nice pieces when we went this weekend, but they were more expensive than Restoration Hardware prices and they don't even come with a base (worth an extra $175+). The quality is also questionable as they don't use biscuits, just wood glue. The best price he offered for RAW not planed maple was $900 for two 60"x20" pieces. I found a couple pieces of raw maple with free shipping for a couple hundred dollars cheaper online that we're over a foot longer. City Trees also doesn't own their own woodworking tools, so think about the up charge to compensate for renting.

What a find! Driving around Ballard and saw the sign for City Trees. After discussing what 'the plan' was with the owner, I was shown several finished slabs that (a) were exactly what I was looking for, and (b) within the budget (even after taking into account some custom legs). I was worried I was going to have to purchase from a box store, or order something blindly off the internet -- thanks City Trees, I'll be back!

City Trees is amazing! Donald crafted us a beautiful dining table with a live edge and we were able to select the slices of tree that it came from. Very custom experience and the finished product is a work of art! Donald was very helpful and even designed our table off of a cardboard template we brought in to fit our odd shaped dining room.

If you are interested in beautiful live edge furniture, give Donald a call. He was able to schedule a time to meet and show us his 3 workshops (all within minutes of each other in Ballard) at the first time we proposed. We ended up falling in love with one that was just finishing that afternoon. Donald emailed us a quote (a VERY fair price for this quality) that night. Once we made our decision, Donald was super accommodating with coordinating a deposit and scheduling delivery. The experience was friendly, low pressure and highly accommodating. And our table is GORGEOUS!!

Walking through City Trees is an experience. You are surrounded by slabs of finished and unfinished slabs of wood. Each finished piece is a work of art. The prices are lower than other stores in the Pacific Northwest, however each piece has its own unique personality. It is easy working with Don Smith (owner/artist) and he will bend over backwards to help you find the perfect piece. If you are in the market for Live Edge or slab furniture, I highly recommend stopping by CityTrees.

Donald is fantastic to work with and does outstanding work. The table we chose is a beautiful piece of art that deserves all the compliments our guests give it. A friend of mine referred me to City Trees and told me not only is Donald's product impressive, but it is much cheaper than other local furniture companies. I was not disappointed.

Just just purchased a couple slab ends for a Dining room table I am designing. Such a friendly relaxed business! I love it. :-) He helped walk me through my own thoughts and gave me design and construction options. I am very much looking forward to this table!

Don, from City Trees Furniture, produces some of the finest slab furniture I've seen. He has an extremely expansive supply of maple slab, walnut slab, reclaimed fir, sycamore, elm, etc. The coolest part of what he does is that his lumber supply comes from trees around the city that need to be removed for various reasons. I built some oak radiator covers from an old oak tree in the Central District. So cool to be able to tell my client exactly where the wood came from to build their project.
