I would give less than 1star I opened v an account at BECU. The purpose was to deposit money. I was receiving after my father passed away. I had a Canadian check and had to deposit it into the account. I chose BECU because they told me there were no fees associated with the Canadian check and I would get the daily rate used by their bank Which was similar To the rate I would receive if I had to cash the check in Canada and exchanged the money to US dollars.
I believe what they said and figured it was my best opportunity to exchange the check I gave it to them and when they cash it, there was a serious amount of money missing approximately $500.
The explanation was that the money went to Wells Fargo bank to be converted to US dollars and then given back to BECU.
At no time was it mentioned that Wells Fargo would be involved at all I would never have given them my check to cash because I know Wells Fargo charges a lot of money to do conversions and rips off people with their fees.
When I asked about what they had done and why they had done it they simply said it was my tough luck. There was no compensation for my loss, and there was an attitude of Total indifference.
A started an official complaint with the bank and the individuals at the branch where I open the account. Nobody, but the individual who made the mistake ever contacted me. Not even an email. Not even the direct boss of the person who made the mistake.
My advice to you is not to trust pretty much any bank, but this solidifies the fact that you can’t trust BECU either. I’ll be lucky if I hear a word from them let alone getting me my $500 back.
You can’t believe a word they say.

I had what I thought was a simple issue that turned out to be more complex than anyone thought, and everyone, from the concierge staff member to the manager, were all very kind and patient with me. There was a once-in-a-blue-moon computer glitch that had me all frustrated, and their team was just the best at helping to sort it all out.
Highly recommended for all your banking needs, simple or otherwise.

I've stuck with BECU over 2 decades despite its worse banking offerings compared to other major banks, purely because of its superior customer service. But my experiences at this branch finally make me pull the trigger to switch banks.
Branch manager is rude and unprofessional. They have no tellers, and frequently only 1-2 reps helping both scheduled appts and walk-ins, resulting in long waits for the most basic needs.
This morning there was a manager and another employee who for some reason would not help customers despite the wait, leaving it to the single rep. BECU's self-service options via online banking are limited. There are no tellers and barely any reps to provide in-person help. The suggestion to use the online messenger for a basic need was ridiculous considering that also has long wait times. And if I wanted to get service via an app, I'd use an online bank with better offerings like Citi or Capital One!

This becu is not the most convenient with location but every time the people here are friendly and always help out. I'm writing this review to bring attention to my latest visit yesterday. When I entered, I was greeted promptly by Laura. I went in for a notary service and got my document notarized. Upon having that completed, I was asked if there was anything else I needed, which I replied, "no." Before I could get up I was asked if I was working on paying down my credit card? I was caught off guard with the question as I went in for a notary service, not finances. I responded that I am and she followed by mentioning the possibility of getting a personal loan to pay down my "high" balance quicker. While I appreciate that maybe she wanted to help, I did not come in for that. Last time I came in for a notary, I got the service and left. I understand needing to identify me but I came in for a notary, not sure why my financials are being looked into. Is it now policy to inquire about a service a customer has not mentioned?

They’re the best! If you’re ever confused about a loan or some other financial thing they’ll totally break it down for you! Also they can replace your debit card in house, they’ll just print a new one and you don’t have to wait for it to arrive in the mail!

Was pleasantly helped to the fullest extent by Tim Auldridge in consolidating my debt into one personal loan that will save me money and help me become debt free more efficiently. Major thanks to him as he was incredibly professional yet also very friendly as well as patient and unique in his way of assisting me.Amazing to be able to talk with a BECU associate that isn't just robotic in the way they handle my personal finance, and treats my situation as if it was their own.Thank you very much Tim Auldridge and thank you BECU. He needs a raise.

Ahndy was absolutely fantastic. I had shut off my debit card because I thought there was a fraudulent charge- realized the library had changed the name of their printing services and had overcharged me so I misread it.I had called the fraud department back within the hour to reactivate the card and they had said it was reactivated, it was also showing on my account as active however it was declining whenever I tried to use it. I also checked to make sure it wasn’t paused and it wasn’t.Ahndy first reissued the card with the same numbers (I’ve got it linked to a lot of things so the convenience of this offer was very appreciated) and suggested we test it at the ATM. Unfortunately it still declined the transaction so I’m very grateful that she did. She printed me a new card with new information and it works fine now!We’re not sure where the issue came from, but it’s on the end of the fraud department and she remedied the situation within fifteen minutes.Definitely one of the best customer service experiences I’ve ever had anywhere, and I’ve worked customer service so I don’t say that lightly. Thank you so much Ahndy!

Tim is very nice and patient. While I was waiting in the lobby I observed him patiently helping 4 people check in. He helped me for almost an hour, I managed to accomplish everything I came in for and he even made a suggestion to maximize the benefits of already doing a credit check. He was a delight to talk to the entire time and made that bank visit one of the best, stress free visits I’d ever had!
