I’m a new member at Ballard Health Club and I really love the classes. I like that the lights aren’t super bright in there and it feels very warm and cozy. The teachers are the best! I’ve been to yoga and circuit training. They are friendly, encouraging and very experienced and knowledgeable. I love my new club!

BHC is a friendly, low-stress, supportive place for folx of any body type and skill level to work on their fitness goals. They don’t have all the bells and whistles (no pool) but they have enough heart that it doesn’t matter. You can choose from a large selection of fitness equipment, a variety of classes and even small group or one-on-one personal training. Everything is clean and well-maintained, and the employees are all kind, helpful and very knowledgeable. You’ll see the owner around, working on improving the space, chatting with members and smiling. You’ll never find high pressure sales, or an unsafe/ uncaring atmosphere. Chill, healthy vibes only.

Honestly, for the price and 24 hours, you can't beat it. Other gyms around open between 5-530 which doesn't give me enough time to work out and go to work. It's got what you need. Cannot complain!

I am so appreciative of the entire staff and general experience at BHC. And I want to make a special shoutout to personal trainer, *~Noah~*. I recently tore my hamstring and was told by a physical therapist that I may not gain full recovery for at least six months. Basically all of my favorite hobbies involve hamstring use and without cardio, I was starting to downslide into a mood and apathy dip. Noah put together a fantastic circuit training routine that utilized almost every other part of my body to get my heart racing. I appreciate how he creatively incorporated different equipment that I wouldn't normally use to keep the routine interesting and stimulating. His overall style of coaching is much-appreciated too: He's very receptive and engaged, with a peaceful demeanor that is neither drilling or removed - a perfect balance. I also appreciate that good music was a priority of his. Noah kicks ass and I can't recommend him enough if you need training. Not only am I delightfully sore from a hearty workout, but I also feel substantially more optimistic about my path to recovery, part of which is realizing I can grow stronger in ways I wouldn't have been able to explore on my own.

This is the definition of a true community gym. The clientele ranges from young professionals to senior citizens, and everyone was always respectful of each other. Even during busy hours it never felt busy. Usually I was able to use whatever equipment I needed or only waited a couple minutes. I also found the staff to be very personable. Couldn't recommend BHC enough.

Just starting out here, but quickly fell in love with the staff, amenities, and other gym members. This is a down to earth facility that accommodates practically everyone. Parking is paid for, 24/7 access, group classes, and sophisticated gym room. Plus a sauna

BHC is simply the best around. I have lived in Ballard for over 2 years and have been a member of Olympic Athletic Club, Fitness 19 and BHC. Without an ounce of hesitation, BHC trounces the other 2 in nearly everything.Ample equipment and space to work with, fantastic community driven by amazing members and staff, and lastly competitive pricing. While BHC charges an average gym rate, what you get in return is far more than what most gyms offer. As a conclusion, if you are looking for a comfortable environment to workout in this is the place to go!

Good price for all that is included. Had some bad encounters with grumpy people and thought the staff could do more to make the gym a more friendly environment but for the price I think you're going to have a hard time finding something so cheap with all the amenities they offer.

I have been a member on and off (depending on where I was living) since 2004. I have loved it! The staff is really nice, the gym is clean, if stuff breaks it gets fixed quickly, all the classes I've been to are great, and the price is right! I recently cancelled just because I moved to the south end. I wanted to write this review to praise BHC for how easy it was to cancel my membership! I think I just emailed, and it was all I needed to do! Now that I'm in the market for a new gym, I am horrified about how hard it is to cancel at the (big name) gym that's closest to my house. Thank you Ballard Health Club for so many years of being such a wonderful gym!

As a first time gym membership holder I was so excited to be apart of a "health club". I purchased the most expensive package so I could have 24 hour access, then was told I had to pay another $10 for the key fob. The rep was started getting rude when I pointed out it does not say that on the website and I purchased the package to have that access. He said "I can cancel your membership" as a resolution to the problem. The only amenities are a sauna and class access... they charge on every little thing. I've since been to LA fitness and planet fitness BOTH are cheaper and have many more amenities. This place is only great because the staff are friendly, and they have wash clothes instead of paper towels. I'm salty at myself for spending so much here when other places offer more for less, lesson learned.

Hidden gem of a gym. Membership is very reasonable. They have all the standard machines, several squat racks, array of dumb bells, a punching bag, and a heavy lifting room that won’t make so much noise when you drop your weights. The parking pass is super cheap, too. My only complaint is that the pec fly machine doesn’t have a joint at the top of the arm so its angle and radius are static.

I'll come here to work out but the membership process felt scammy/misleading. You have to pay first and last month's payment up front, which basically means they get to charge everyone an extra month. It would be a lot simpler to just charge one more the at origination of membership. Representative tried to sell it as a benefit to me, but you know it really isn't.The basic membership included sauna access on the postings but when I signed up was told sauna is not included. I'd advise the membership materials be kept up to date.
