Eye surgery went great and was cheaper than another estimate we got. Doctor is really nice and staff is polite and professional. The problem is that they didn't make it clear to me the eye drops which you need for the rest of the pet's life can't get renewed legally in WA state without a yearly checkup. I had to find out the hard way and get my vet to prescribe it until my next visit which took all of 10 minutes but had me waiting 40. $350 later I get a prescription. Don't bother with the yearly checkups at this exorbitant amount. Ask your vet if they will prescribe it with yearly follow-ups and have them check eye pressure. Save the hassle and money.

I brought my dog, Chip, here to see about getting a cataract surgery. We were scheduled to have one-but sadly didn't get to have it. Dr. Sullivan discovered an arrhythmia before Chip's surgery, and didn't want to risk operating without knowing more about it. Sadly Chip passed this month and we didn't get his surgery in the end. We were working on addressing the arrhythmia before we came back. While we didn't get the surgery, I can say how well we were treated. The receptionists are just lovely and so helpful. Dr. Sullivan is gentle and so, so kind. He assured me that I was a good pet parent if I did or didn't get the surgery, and gave me all the facts. I appreciated that he was so thorough before the scheduled surgery too; there attention to detail is so important when the pets that come here are probably often old and have other health issues at play, like my old guy did. I can't recommend them enough and will always be so appreciative of them!

I had an amazing experience with Dr. Sullivan and his team at Animal Eye Clinic! The staff were attentive and kind with check-in and pick-up. My dog is aggressive and requires muzzling, they made sure she was comfortable while in their care. The Dr. explained the diagnoses clearly and my dog has been feeling so much better since starting treatment. I can't thank them enough!

$450.00 simply to "check in" and get the appointment. This doesn't include any service to your animal's eye problem. "Eye" don't care how good they are, this is extortion.

The way they run their practice is bizarre. The pandemic is over but you can't come in even to use the restroom. One time we went in on the weekend and it was so dirty and disheveled. We always went in worrying about how our dog's eye looked after cataract surgery and Dr. Sullivan always told us everything looks great! Although we never talked to him, just his tech. We trusted him too long, should have gotten a second opinion earlier, now our dog is losing her eye. The last time we took her in to have her eye looked at it was enlarged and swollen and a strange color. All signs of Glaucoma but again, we were told "It looks great!" Do not take your pet there, drive up north to Animal Vision Center. They are professional and trustworthy.

I highly recommend you go elsewhere only because I wouldn't want this to happen to other pets. I hate leaving bad reviews but when it comes to my dog (my kid) that can't speak for itself, I have to say something. This happened back in April 2023, my dog was having issues that unfortunately my regular vet couldn't help with so I went to Animal Eye because they could see my dog the soonest. They diagnosed him, stated he needed surgery, and did the surgery. I will say they did find he had high blood pressure on the day of the surgery. At pick up I was told everything looks good, that his eyesight should slowly come back. I went back a couple more times being told the same thing; good progress but no clue why his eyesight wasn't coming back. When I did talk to the Dr. it seemed almost as if he didn't know what was really going on which delayed quite a few things with my dogs recovery. His eyes started to fill with fluid, I sent pictures and was told this was normal. Since I work in the Veterinary industry, I asked other Drs for their opinions and they were concerned with the instructions/advice I was given. The fluid wasn't going away and my poor dogs eye started to swell and every time I tried to get ahold of anyone I couldn't get anyone; via text or on the phone, even the after hours phone line was useless. It was 2 months before I heard from the Dr and by then I had already gone to another specialist where it was confirmed that his eyes would need to go because he had glaucoma. Unfortunately, my poor dog lost both his eyes :/ and I will never recommend them to anyone.

Dr. Sullivan is the vet that cares for his patients so much that he squeezes them in during that last minute emergency. He is so kind, thoughtful and detail oriented. He takes the time to explain veterniary medicine in layman's terms. Our kitten punctured his eye and the vet we usually see happened to have his personal cell phone to send the picture of the very unusual eye. (We did not know at the time that his eye was hurt due to a puncture as he is an indoor cat). Dr. Sullivan squeezed us in during the busy holiday season amid moving his office, having staff out sick, and he just made it happen. Our kitten did have to get his eye removed, but Dr. Sullivan gave us expectations for what to expect from surgery, how to administer medicines, and that our kitten would be able to experience a normal happy life. He had very careful stitches and other than the first day home seemed to experience very little pain. We did have pain medicines on hand and will go back for a check up in 2 weeks, but surgery site is healing beautifully and our playful orange kitten is back to chasing his sister around the house. All of the vet techs were very kind and are probably to thank just as much as Dr. Sullivan. I know they were also working long hours to fit in those extra patients around the holidays but everyone of them gave our kitten all the love, all the pets, all the checks, and responded to our messages. We did have to wait a long time in the parking lot for our emergency consult, but when you are squeezed into a medical specialist last minute when others turn you away that is sometimes what happens. If you are looking for an animal vision specialist, I could not recommend Dr. Sullivan and his wonderful team of vet techs more. They do take on that one extra patient and sometimes are a little busy, but if you want to make sure your pet is in the best hands this is the place for you.

I brought my Shitzu in for a (I thought) cherry eye but it turned out to be cancer. I had to leave her. I NEVER met the vet face to face, the lobby is closed not allowing me to even go to the bathroom. It was REALLY creepy to not see the vet face to face. Follow up, the same thing COULDN'T see the vet face toface to go over her biopsy results. VERY CREEPY til I thought HE'S not in the office? Maybe? I asked receptionist said he's immune compromised. Just too weird

These guys are phenomenal! My dog had previously had a surgery done on his eye, but we needed a repeat as the original procedure didn't last. The doctors at Animal Eye Clinic were excellent and my dog has been super happy ever since!

My cat Mokka had 2 issues in his eyes and he was very well taken care of. After his surgery he healed very nicely and we got the support needed every step of the process. Mokka is a happy cat now, I am thankful for Dr. Sullivan and Molly for being great at their jobs but also being amazing people

**update - my dog is now permanently blind because of their complete lack of response to questions. The window for surgery passed waiting for the Dr. To call and answer simple questions after canceling my first scheduled surgery.**Dr. Sullivan is highly regarded in this field, seems to have a genuine love for animals but this clinic has given me serious anxiety dealing with them for a long time. I hesitate to post negative reviews but feel people should be aware that it's very uncomfortable dealing with the staff. We've been taking our pet here for years due to chronic corneal ulcers and infections. Since curbside has been implemented the communication has been lacking at best. There wasn't any consistency with treatment. A few examples... We suspected another corneal ulcer starting and the clinic couldn't fit our dog into the schedule. We were previously able to take a picture for review to get started on medication. We tried that and was adamantly told it wasn't an option. This resulted in complete blindness in my dog over the weekend that ended in a $700 emergency vet trip in the middle of the night not knowing if we were causing permanent blindness by not getting treated right away. It turned into months of blindness trying to clear the infection and ulcer. The rechecks were frequent for the same problem and it's at least a couple hundred dollars every time to check on progression of healing. One recheck I was told it was healing nicely and the next day my pet woke up with a red pupil. I was concerned and contacted the clinic. I brought my pet in and was told it's all part of the healing process and was charged again. Had this not been curbside I would imagine it would have been communicated to me that it's normal and what to expect. The staff there is incredibly unfriendly and shows zero concern about our fears of permanent blindness. I also asked several times for paperwork and information on cataract surgery and was never provided the packet. I sent a message during my pet's exam and they never addressed my question. I would ask basic questions such as... Can my dog safely be put under anesthesia with high blood pressure and if I wait on cataract surgery will it prevent him from being able to have it in the future. All without an answer. They also cancelled a cataract surgery last minute due to office covid. I couldn't reschedule because my pet came down with an ulcer in the opposite eye and it wasn't healing (wrong medication prescribed delaying healing). It was close to me leaving in a few weeks and I wanted the Dr to check the progression of the cataract while he was checking on the ulcer and the office staff (Kit) brushed me off saying they didn't have time without even consulting the Dr. I asked for Dr. Sullivan to call me. Three months passed. I still don't know if waiting affects the ability to have surgery so I scheduled it again because I want my pet to see. They wouldn't give me a quote on price, they wouldn't answer my pre surgery questions, and they say things like "as we discussed before" and when I ask for direction on where we talked about it so I can refer back I am blatantly ignored. It's the day before the surgery and I finally hear from the Dr... Only for him to cancel it because I finally told the staff I was uncomfortable with the treatment and care. I don't think Dr. Sullivan is a bad doctor, I very much like him. But the fact that I've tolerated mistreatment by his staff after countless hours and several thousand dollars just to be fired as a patient day before surgery is more than disappointing. The end goal obviously wasn't to restore my dog's sight, it was to defend staff that will undoubtedly do it again until enough people are willing to take the risk of trying to get through the gatekeepers. You see what it cost me.

Very thankful that Columbia City Veterinary Hospital (my dogs’ regular vet) referred us to the Animal Eye Clinic. Dr Sullivan and all the staff I met were amazing - compassionate and consummate professionals. They communicated the options for my Wolfie’s emergency eye surgery very clearly, were totally up front about costs from the first contact, and took good care of him (& me!!) every moment he was in their hands. Nobody wants to need a veterinary ophthalmologist, but when you do Dr Sullivan and his team are the best. I recommend them whole heartedly.
