BEWARE DECEPTIVE PRACTICES FROM DOLLAR! The confirmation I received stated that there would be a $200 hold on my rental WHEN USING A MAJOR CREDIT CARD, WHICH I WAS. I have it in writing and also double checked your website to be sure.
I was shocked when I went to get the car when the agent said there will be a $500 hold instead. He was very rude and said it clearly says this on the website. It doesn’t. He even looked to show me and couldn’t find it. Only one sentence deep in the terms and conditions saying that local locations can decide to change the hold amount any time they want. He said it was because I used a Washington driver’s license. He was extremely rude when I showed him the confirmation clearly stating it was a $200 hold and he angrily said “Do you want the car or not?”. This ruined my vacation since I had planned on using that credit card for other things.
I will NEVER, EVER use Dollar again due to this deceptive practice.

The location at the airport mislead us on the coverage we were getting. We ended up paying over $400 more than expected and they offered to change the paperwork, but it would have taken us an hour out of our way on vacation. Very unfair. Also don’t trust the Priceline estimate.

My daughter my a reservation at this ripoff place. She had to take an Uber there from the train station and got there late at night. They tried to charge her $500 deposit on her credit card in addition to the rental price. Insane business practice. Everywhere else it is $200. She wasn't local, she just spent 3 hours on a train and an Uber ride to get to this place with horrible customer service and a scammer business practices. Nowhere does it say during the reservation process that there is this huge deposit. She was in town for 2 days for a business trip and didn't want to drive there. Do not give these people your business! Go right down the way to AVIS. They were awesome to her and got her in a car in 15 minutes with a reasonable deposit and rental price was lower! This place is low class! And want to take advantage of their customers.

Car was okay....but a bit of a "bait- and- switch" as far as the car I had reserved. Kind of sleazy "used-car salesman" approach to car rental.

Beware they charge you for things you didn’t ask for. I specifically told them I wanted the car and nothing else and they ended up charging me for roadside assistance and insurance. I haven’t gotten the bill for my $2.95 toll fee. I hate to know what they are going to charge me for this. I will never use Dollar car rental again.

Booked my rental over 2 months in advance. Plane arrived just before 10pm on a Tuesday, got to rental place at 1030. Had my car by 1040. No issues or problems at desk. Declined everything. Went downstairs and got my Carolla. Easy! The only thing I was unprepared for is that I was unaware that new Toyotas use USB C- USB C connection for Android Auto/Apple, so luckily my sister had an extra cord so I didn't have to go buy a cord. Check in after rental was so easy. So Seatac's taxes/fees are high, but it's still cheaper that using Ubers for a week if you are staying in Burien and need to go to Ballard every day for example.

I’m only give a one star based on our experience with the worker we had. The car was great and fine. My husband and I were traveling from MI so it was our first time to WA. We did not appreciate all the lies the worker told us to try to get us to spend more money. I finally had to firmly tell the worker “we said NO” after multiple times of telling the worker no. Thankfully we did not fall for her trap. Be cautious if you rent from here, they will try everything and anything to make you spend more money when it’s not needed. They will take advantage of you!

The rental experience was seamless. .I Did have a small issue during my rental that I called about and the manager, Aina, , took care of it with no problem. He was very professional and responsive as well as his staff.. I will definitely rent from them again. Highly recommend!

Everything went smoothly and the final charge was what I was quoted when I made the reservation. Find out ahead of time what your auto insurance policy will cover so you can decide whether to pay the significant additional fee for Dollar's insurance. (We declined it since our insurance covers car rentals, though the same deductible applies.) The woman who helped us at the service counter wasn't very friendly and seemed annoyed when I asked her questions about what we were signing, which was all electronic and didn't include many details. We had to agree to pay a $200 deposit on top of the $190 for the rental charge, but the final bill was just $190. Drop off was quick and easy.

Terrible experience all around. I reserved a car months in advance. I pre-checked in and provided my card info. Im an express member. I was told I needed to show up with my DL and drive away. I have rented multiple cars in the past through the parent company (HERTZ) with zero issue.
Fast forward to the day I was supposed to pick up the car. Show up. Can’t use the express member check in as I was told I could. Wait in line while anyone and everyone was helped despite my reservation. I was then told I had to provide all the information again, a drivers license and my credit card. I didn’t have a physical copy of any credit card. It’s 2024. I use digital cards with only one exception. My debit card. I explained this and explained that I’d pre-checked in and provided my card info & was supposed to avoid all of this. I showed a digital copy of my card from my bank that was valid and usable and that I had used many times. They refused to accept that card because I didn’t have a piece of plastic with me. So they asked for another. I provided a debit card as that’s the only one I physically carry.
Well… now that I am a debit card user… I have to pay $300 extra in deposit. For a total of $500 deposit. Ridiculous but Fine. I transferred all necessary money into the account. But THEN… they tell me they have to run a credit check to determine if AN EXPRESS MEMBER WITH PRIOR RENTAL HISTORY WITH THEIR COMPANY is “credit worthy” to rent a car. So I ask what they’re looking for. They couldn’t tell me. They said they don’t know. 3 people didn’t know. BUT if I don’t pass the “credit check” with unknown criteria then my car rental would be cancelled and I’d be out of luck. At this point, I was beyond frustrated, tired from my flight, and over it.
I walked away and attempted to rent a car from literally any other car rental outlet in the airport. No one had an available car. No one! I even called Uber as I AM AN UBER DRIVER who rents cars to drive for Uber THROUGH Hertz! They also did not have an available car. Nightmare. My 70 year old mother is waiting on me and it’s been 2 hours since I was supposed to have “express member fast easy check in.”
So I go back. They tell me that they can convert the rental to my mother’s name if she has a physical credit card and avoid all the extra fees and credit check. Fine. I ask her what she wants to do and she chooses to convert. Ok.
We convert. The guy then TOLD my 70 y/o mother that she had to get the extra insurance and only gave options of the “basic coverage which isn’t enough” and some astronomical insurance “which was necessary.” He tried to charge 4x the car rental rate for it. Luckily, I stepped in and said NO. He then tried to intimidate my 70 year old mother into getting the highest insurance and told her that they were going to charge the price of the car and a daily rental rate until it was fixed if there was my accident to her credit card. I don’t even think that is true but it was said in such a bullying and intimidating way that my mother started to get panicked. I had to calm down my mother at the counter AND explain that she didn’t have to spend HUNDREDS of dollars for the insurance. The man looked visibly angry that I’d told her she had options. I had to FORCEFULLY tell the guy NO multiple times. I needed Jesus at that point but I remained calm and polite. For my mom’s sake.
BUT WAIT! HE ISNT DONE! The guy says that they only have a pick up & a 4 runner available. Great! We choose the 4 runner at economy price. Score!
No. He then tries to UPSELL my mother an economy car (what I rented) because “gas is so expensive” and we need to “upgrade” to a more economical car. He then quotes the gas price at “almost $5 a gallon”. It’s only another $130 for the week to “upgrade” to a “gas efficient” car because the “4 runner only gets 14 mpg.” SERIOUSLY?!? Calmed mom down again.
More aggressive NOs later, she asks if I can be an authorized dri

Dollar accommodated our last minute rental need when our original reservation company had no cars on our arrival. They were very kind and the representative even gave us a discount. We also noticed they had a separate board for keys with reservations versus the cars they were offering us (given that our other company gave away our prepaid rental this seemed like a plus for dollar). Would rent from them again.
