“TL;DR version: Tower Transmission has great pricing (for a mechanic, anyway), absolutely honors their warranty, and went above and beyond for me when my transmission went out. Would recommend them to anyone who needs repairs, even for non-transmission work.
Long version: The day I moved into my new house, 5/23/24, my transmission decided to give up the ghost and my check engine light came on in my 2012 Dodge Charger. I called the dealer and several shops in the area, and everyone wanted at least $200 just to look at my car and diagnose the problem. Luckily, one of the shops I called recommended Tower Transmission.
They were able to fit me in less than a week later, and did not charge me to look at it. In addition to the bad transmission, I had a misfire in two cylinders. James explained my options and worked up quotes for each one. I ultimately chose to have them rebuild the transmission and do a tune up with new coils, wires, and spark plugs. My decision was primarily cost-based, as Tower came in more than $1000 less than the next closest estimate.
They originally estimated at least 3 weeks based on parts and their current workload, but knew I was going out of town (and needing my only car) at the end of that timeframe and managed to get it done in just over a week.
Unfortunately, the universe has it out for me, and one of the parts (a gasket, I think) they installed failed, leading the check light to come on less than a day after I picked it up. I took it back in and they found the problem, repaired it under warranty, and got it back to me, still in time for my trip!
Cue the universe, my CEL came back on two weeks later. Tower again took it apart and replaced multiple parts to try and identify the problem. This time, it wasn’t easy, and they ended up having to replace the entire transmission through their parts supplier. Again, they covered it under warranty.
I finally picked my car up again (it had been two months since I originally brought it in at this point) and 58 miles later, 8/7/24, my CEL came on AGAIN. This time, it wasn’t a transmission issue, but a bad sensor in my oil system. I showed up unannounced this morning, and they worked their butts off, got the part, had it fixed in less than two hours for me, and even waived the labor charge… I’m guessing they felt bad for me at this point, knowing the hell I’d been through with no car for the better part of two months (through no fault of theirs.)
At this point, I’m praying there are no more issues, but if there are, I will 100% take it back to Tower Transmission. I cannot thank Roland, James, and the crew at Tower Transmission enough for their efforts and commitment to their customers!!!”
“Waylon and Shane always take good care of us. They usually can get us in quickly, stay on
budget, and even offer a ride home when I need it. They do a informative inspection that we can keep and refer to for later. Say our reliable, honest, friendly, and prompt. What more could you ask?!”
“I cannot say a big enough "Thank You" to James and the team that fixed my truck. I was camping in my 5th wheel at MossyRock Park when my tow vehicle wouldn't start. I used AAA and they had a list of mechanics to call. All of the places I called were booked out for weeks. Transmissions Unlimited was the only place that listened to my concerns. I had 4 days of camping reservations and then we had to move the 5th wheel. I also had to pick up my daughter at the airport, so I needed to get my truck fixed and get back on the road. Turns out my water pump went out, which in-turn broke my serpentine belt. They also found water in my differential and I badly needed an oil change. All of this was fixed in 2 days and James drove 45 minutes to my camping spot and gave me a ride back to the shop at no charge. Highly recommend them.”
“Came in for oil change. They shuttled me back to my place and picked me back up once everything was done. Couldn't have asked for more. Well played Auto Tech, well played.”
