This store is right across the street from my home but I do everything I can to avoid shopping there. There is always spilled, rotting milk in the dairy case, which is gross. But, BY FAR, the most disgusting thing I've encountered at this location is the EMPLOYEES, smoking at the entrance of the store. You have to walk through a nasty cloud of cigarette smoke to get into the store and often the whole front end of the store reeks of smoke. While technically, they are smoking more than 25 ft from the entrance (just barely), it still effects everyone that has to walk into the store. The employees want to be able to smoke without getting rained on...but it's a nasty, filthy habit and if they want to do it, I say make them stand out in the rain!!! I could care less about their comfortability if I have to walk through smoke clouds to get into the store. These smokers in question are usually deli workers, who keep their hair nets on while smoking and then go right back to work with those stinky, smelly hairnets still on without washing their hands. I NEVER EVER buy from that deli. Aside from the food just appearing atrocious, I don't want unwashed smokers hands handling my food. A far cry from the nice, well put together Safeway this location was 10, 15, 20 years ago. Avoid this store until they get their sh** together.

This store is fine. They have food. If you want a cart, you might want to grab one from the parking lot on your way in. UPDATE: This store is always out of things, they don't have a great selection, their carts are terrible, plus still have to bring your cart in from the parking lot. Another update: there is no update. The employees are nice. Still get a cart from the parking lot, especially if you want a little one. The selection here is not good compared to other stores and they are often out of at least one thing I go in there for. I only continue to go to this store because it is the only one near my home.

I purchased Gerber Grain and Grow Morning Bowl for my son last Thursday 11/9/23 to find today the Best By date is 9/14/2022. Unfortunately this is not the first baby product I've purchased to find that the product is well past its expiration date and I usually throw out my receipt so I can't return it. I shouldn't have to worry about a product being a year past its Best By date ?

As I've been here for quite some time, I've noticed how horrible the temper of some workers are. Mark for example is an example of having a bad attitude. His rude demeanor is not welcoming to the store, and paints it with a bad name. He is a store manager that needs to consider his customers and workers better. Being a shopper for a year now, I've always heard from workers that Mark is a very inconsiderate individual with a large lack of compassion for his workers. I feel bad for the workers, seeing how careless he's been described to be.

Look I am literally standing at the self checkout, and have been for about 15 minutes, while the screen says help is on the way. But nobody is on the way. They are all three standing here bullshitting. No one even wonders why I am standing here. If I was a real degenerate I would just take this shit and leave. These evening employees do nothing but bullshit and stereotype people who they think are shoplifters.

The store was clean and had all of the items I was looking for. The self check out went quickly and lines were short. My daughter is happy that seasonal egg nog is already on the shelves.

This review is for those considering a move to Fairwood and the customer experience at Safeway and the shopping centers in general. The twin shopping centers on the intersection of 140th and Petrovisky were previously home to three grocery stores (QFC, Albertsons & Safeway). Today, only Safeway remains after the consolidation of the Albertson/Safeway and Kroger/QFC/Fred Meyer (and now the imminent merger of Kroger & Albertsons). As the last standing grocery store in Fairwood, Safeway is busier than ever and overly crowded during peak hours, to the point where I now travel an extra 10-15 minutes to the Meridian Valley QFC or Highland's Albertsons. To add, crime in the area has worsened in recent years and Safeway now has uniformed security at the doors, which sends mixed signals (do I feel safer now, or is it a magnet for crime that I should avoid?). In terms of the store operations, I would grade them as average. The shelves are generally full and staff is accommodating when asked, but don't go out of their way to ask if you've found everything OK. There are usually 2-3 registers opened in the afternoon/evening, with a line for ~15 self checkout lanes, with one employee frantically trying to help those that need age verification, voided items, etc. At self checkout, I often have to wait several minutes for that person to scan their badge so I can finish checkout. My recommendations for management: Increase staffing - sacrifice profits for improved customer experience. For Alberton's corporate office: If you value customer loyalty, experience and the Fairwood Community, I'd highly recommend investing in store expansion within this shopping center.

I don't really care about the store - it's a grocery store in a small town, so that's what it is. But the people who work there are so darn nice. I'm in there like every day buying a meal at a time usually and sometimes just killing time between meetings. I really like these folks. I've never really said too much but any time I interact with them they're just so kind and friendly. Wish this place had a tip jar.
