Great people, good Union. Check the other locals to see what fits your needs before you sign up though. This local puts you on a 4 day week while you go to school. Other apprenticeship programs do school a week at a time so you can at least collect unemployment while you're out of work for school. 46 has a lot of work though, in 4 years I haven't been laid off for more than a week and have had a lot of overtime. There's also distance to consider (commuting cost) and book cost. You can't choose WHERE in the local you're going to work. They charge you about 800$ per quarter for books and tuition. Some locals don't do that or the union covers it. The retirement and pension are strong. The program seems to attract great electricans to teach, they are electricans though. Not professional educators. Adjust your expectations accordingly. Office staff is top notch.

Went through the application process with all the requirements except 6 months of algebra. Also, I'm in the Navy Reserves as a Seabee rate: construction electrician that also didn't help, I'm disappointed and frustrated with the little support received.

The PSE JATC has you complete an application for $75 and then ranks you on a list based upon your test, etc. They drop you from the list after 2 years even though they don't offer you an opportunity and then you have to reapply. The list is really, really long - as in hundreds so if you don't have prior electrical experience probably not worth your $75 to get on a list for 2 years and then get dropped. Wish there were more opportunities to become an electrician in the greater seattle area, we need them.

The women at the office are always helpful and knowledgeable. The electrical training is second to none. I'm glad I did my apprenticeship here and I still take mu CEU's here.

Most of the teachers try very hard to teach their students. Some try to go above and beyond to better the program. But when it comes to academics there needs to be a lot of improvement.A good amount of,the books are outdated, the homework books have wrong answers regarding the test in 1 out of every three test. They NEVER fix the tests even though multipul class's in the past have challenged them, with a 30% being accepted, should be an 80%. Almost every test has a spelling error which you think they would fix by now. Students do point it out every time but still they don't fix it..... Btw when I said office I was talking about the higher up. The ladies in the front office are nice and do a great job. I do suggest joining the program its a great opportunity. The school just needs a lot of work from the administers/board side.
