I'm stiil waiting on an answer from the Owner on refunding my overpayment. The excuse of him being really busy doesn’t really work. I have emailed both emails i have for the owner left a detailed review. Left messages at both shops for the owner to contact me. They had no issue taking the money but actually performing the work and returning a call or email seem to be not a strong suit for this company. You have my contact info.

my car has been in this shop since october 3rd and i just needed a simple transmission swap and they told me after not being able to find a transmission to do it myself. i was able to find my own and give it to the shop but still wasn't being worked on, they said that they're backed up and had technicians come over the weekend to help them out but didn't get any cars done. they even said my car was a high priority but wasn't done then said they only have 1 mechanic in for the next 2-3 days. They never answered the phone so id have to go to the shop myself and they kept repeating the same thing over again everytime i went in and never made it clear when my car would be done nor seemed to care. this has been a repetitive cycle for the past 3 months Would highly recommend not going here.

I'm not usually a person to give negative reviews, but we've worked through any course of action I can possibly think of, so here we are now. This AAMCO location accepted our car on July 6. They let us know a new transmission was needed, and today on November 12, we still don't have our car back, and they're not answering our calls. We were initially told that the new transmission would take a couple weeks, so we rented a car. There were never updates, and when we would call, they didn't answer the phone or return voicemails. Finally my husband showed up at the shop, and they told him there was a hangup and it should be ready the next week. That pattern went on for about 8 weeks. In September, we got ahold of a new person, who told us the previous manager who wasn't answering the phone had some issues, but now this new person was going to stay on top of it. He shared that while replacing the transmission, the shifting cables broke, and that part was difficult to find. He set our expectations that he would call us later that week with an update. There have never been updates. We finally found out weeks later that there was an option to send the cables to be repaired, instead of relying on locating the replacement part. We were thrilled to have an option and asked them to proceed with that.Over the past month, we've called for updates, and have been instructed to stop calling. The store manager yelled at my husband on the phone and told him that they are screening our calls now because we won't leave them alone. We've asked if we can just have our car back - just put the old transmission back and give it to us so we can sell it as scrap. Even that has been declined. We've contacted AAMCO corporate, and they just pass messages on to this shop to call us, which doesn't happen.I'm at a loss. We've reached out to the Better Business Bureau and Consumer Affairs. I hate that it's gotten to this point. We finally bought another used car because we couldn't afford to keep renting, and I think our old car is just lost to us now.

Had a vehicle there for almost 6 months, communication was not the best at times, they didn't seem to care all that much about fixing the problem. Paid for what they had done and took car to a different shop.

I have a 99 Ford Explorer, transmission was starting to slip (149000) I talked to Ed the manager, they tried few different things (sensors) I figured it was needing a new one and it did! Bought a new one, 3 days to put it in, few minor issues, nothing serious, Ed was very honest, informed me everything ahead of time, they fixed it no problem, it’s been a couple months and working perfect! I wouldn’t hesitate a minute to have my vehicle serviced their. Great Job, Thank you Ed! TonyService: Transmission

Unprofessional, unreliable, unbelievably bad & half the time they don't answer their phone ! Complete waste of time and money. Do yourself a favour and find someone else.

When I was looking for a place to replace the rear pinion bearing and pinion seal I saw all the 5 star reviews about this place and Ed. The start of my experience was 5 star. I drove my dodge truck in and talk to Ed. They quoted me $700ish for and $1500ish if the all the gears in the rest end needed to be replaced. I sat there and looked into Ed’s eyes and said “good, that’s what I was expecting and what I can do. I just don’t want to be surprised with a $5k bill.” He assured me and said “look at my reviews, I try to over quote so people are not surprised.” That was the perfect answer. That was the last I heard from Ed. I left on a business trip excited to have my truck fixed when I returned. After a week of not hearing anything I called, I received no answer and no return phone call. My wife stopped by to find out that no one knew anything an and there was some illness that had spread through the office. All very reasonable. A few days later I called back and found out that sometime between when I dropped it off and when I called the rear end had “exploded” and the whole rear end needed to be replaced. I know the rear wasn’t exploded when I dropped it off because I wouldn’t have been able to drive it to the shop or get it into park. The reason they couldn’t just replace the broken pieces (which they would have had to remove to replace the pinion, bearing and seal in the original job) was because when they replace the gears in the back end they are not able to get the “shims” right and it doesn’t work. The kicker was it would cost about 5k to repair. I wish I had a good and honest experience as you all have had.Update 07/27/2023:I contacted the shop. From the response I hoped that they had some intention of making things right. I emailed and received no response, so I called. The manager said we didn’t do anything wrong and rebuilding can’t be done. I was hoping for an apology for not communicating, and not being clear with what their capabilities were. But I got nothing and it was clear they have not intention of trying to make things right. I am beyond disappointed, I strongly encourage people to bypass this shop and find a honest, straightforward shop to fix their car.

When you do business the expectation is be honest and do what you say. What a disappointing experience with Renton AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care. I drove my truck in to get a bearing and pinion seal replaced. I was given a quote for "$1500 max", and then got a quote for about $5k. Posted a review elsewhere and received what I thought was a genuine attempt to make things right. Reached out and basically told they didn't do anything wrong and had no intention of trying to come up with a compromise. Keep in mind, I drove the truck drove in, and somehow everything "blew up" while in their possession and now it's not drivable and had to be towed out. Seems like bait and switch. Stay away, this shop demonstrates all the negative stereotypes the auto repair industry.

I received great customer service at this shop. Ed was knowledgeable, and provided me with quick communication regarding my car issues. I was provided with honest and accurate information regarding what the problem was with my car. It is truly hard to find honest and trustworthy people today. Ed even provided me with a loaner car while I waited for my car. The mechanic was great too because he was able to diagnose the problem quickly. I will definitely refer this place to family, coworkers, and others. Thanks again Ed for providing excellent customer service.

I was on the way down to Interstate Battery next door but my car coincidentally died at the entrance of their shop on Rainier Ave. The manager Ed was wonderfully helpful - he helped call tow truck to get my car down to their parking lot and quickly had their mechanics ran diagnostics. Ed turned my super stressful day and situation to a complete relief. 10/10 highly recommend this shop!
