Took our dogs in to see how one of their dogs would act with her and an old lady that worked there said she saw our newest dog who had been dumped a year and a half ago yawn, said it was over and they told us "No". Our new dog of a year and a half acts just like that at home with us. They were told that. I called them back an hour later and they told me they would not change their minds. They were wrong. One of us works for the Woodland Park Zoo and I used to be a Nurse and we have both had dogs our whole life. We LOVE our dogs because they are my children. We don't have children. They are wrong. The dog we wanted would have been VERY HAPPY at our home of a fully fenced 2.5 acres property. Our dogs did not like the place there with all of the dogs there barking loudly in their tiny kennels with a tiny run where the roof makes a knocking sound continuously. They were full of it and we lost out on a great dog and their dog lost out on a FANTASTIC home and the elderly lady should stick to cleaning cages and not evaluating home for their pets. She should stick to volunteering and cleaning up after the dogs. They DO NOT KNOW OUR DOGS LIKE WE DO. THEY WERE WRONG.

Last I heard the shelter is euthanizing for space. A woman tried to bring a stray dog in, and they gave her three kennel cards and told her to choose which one they should put to sleep and then they told her to release the dog back where she found it. This is disappointing.

The staff is great and they helped us adopt two adorable kittens. They were super busy so we had to wait awhile but that was understandable.

The staff was pleasant @ the front desk & in the back.
We saw their avail cats & dogs for adoption. On their website, they have an up-to-the-min status of their adoptable furbabies. It seems to be a sm facility, yet they have a huge staff/shelter vehicle parking area. The visitor parking is much smaller (under 10 cars). There are adorb cement flowerbed pieces layingĺ(flat on top of a w/ grass growing around the . It may be larger inside the shelter, but thley currently have under 20 furbabies to adopt.
It appears to be an older shelter. The animals seem to be well cared for & loved.
I believe the only real concern we had was the terrible smell throughout the whole shelter. It was in the high 70's the day we went & maybe their vent/circulation was not working properly? Metro Animal Shelter was prob one of the worst smelling shelters we've visited.
I'd go back, even w/ the smell, hoping it was only a fluke, for the time being.

Horrible employees, if you need to rehome or found a lost dog do not go here, they will guilt trip you and make you feel awful about a dog that isn’t even yours
