I have been going here many for years with 3 dogs and 2 cats. I have never had anything but positive experiences. However last week I had an appointment with Dr Tyler, whom I have never seen before and from the moment he walked into the room, I was rubbed the wrong way. He was cold and came across the entire time like he was annoyed by my pets life threatening situation. He is simply in the wrong profession. He was unprofessional, impersonal, and made an awful situation feel so much worse. He came across as inexperienced, though I will say have no idea on his background. Even students/people new in the field can have compassion. I saw nothing like this from him. Everyone else that I interacted with on this day was very professional. Because the facility has proven itself I might consider returning some day, but I would recommend anyone to steer clear of this particular Dr if they are visiting.

Grooming related. I dropped of my Mainecoon off at 9am for a lion cut. I knew he needed to be sedated because he is big and anxious. They had one cat ahead of him and still took over 8 hours to pick him up. I bet my buddy was so scared.

We had a horrible experience putting our 12-year old pup down. It was time - his health was failing. Whatever sedative they gave him had the opposite effect and he reacted badly to it. No one came in to check on us and we were left trying to calm him down on our own. What should have been a peaceful time to bond and say goodbye was totally traumatic for our dog and for us. Unfortunately, it will be a lingering bad memory for us and I will never forget it. Do not trust your pet's care to this veterinary service. We will definitely be transferring care to another clinic for the rest of our pets.

Charged $79.00 for this visit: The cat is friendly with me but considered feral. I made an appt. for a FERAL cat & brought him in a trap as required. He was to get neutered, shots, ear clip & eye check. They called back a few hours later and told me they did nothing and aren't able to because they are afraid. No shots through the trap to sedate him - I hear that's a thing traps are designed to deal with. They didn't do Anything, didn't touch him. Do they work with Feral cats? This cat went through being a lot of stress being trapped and in that trap for over 3 hours. I was told they know how to and frequently do work with feral cats. They did however, KEEP MY MONEY. They did give me a med. to try and put in his food for an eye infection. But they warned me that it wasn't likely to work. I'd been referred by a 'cat friend' who hasn't had any negative experiences there. They are very kind people, I must say that. Also, I don't write reviews. Another cat friend insisted so it doesn't happen to others.

They have always take very good care of our pets. Starting with our Mini Dachshunds who would slip their disc in their back usually on the weekends. Next out Silky Terrier. He was. Rescue and we only had him fir short time but they took good 3oc Rudy. Next out Mini Pinschers. Always a challenge but they were right there with proper diagnosis. I still have one left and he has Addison 's disease since he was 8. Will be 17 in August. Going strong!

My mom has been taking her animals here for 30 years. One of her cats was just put down here a few days ago. My mom is worried about one of her other animals and called to schedule an appointment for a check up. She was told her account was changed to the name of her friend and roommate, who was with her one of the times she brought one of her cats in. She was told "she no longer has an account, and they aren't accepting new patients", even though their website clearly states they do (see below). My mom said "well what do I do" to which the receptionist replied rudely "I doooont knoooow". I also used to bring my pets here, never again. Unbelievable that they treat 30 year clients this way. They should be ashamed.

ABSOLUTE WORST I started coming to this clinic 17 years ago- first with our Bichon pup and later with our MaltiPoo. They were very good to begin with- what you would expect your vet to be. But these last few years they have progressively gone downhill, first with their ftont office who wouldn't give you the time of day, God forbid that you have a truly sick animal. But even the vets seemed to just consider their bottom line. We have spent thousands at this clinic on numerous dogs and cats during the years but the last straw was when we adopted a rescue dog 3 years ago. Not knowing the history of this dog we naturally brought her to the clinic for her shots, check ups, etc. She started getting sick-little things that became worse as they kept misdiagnosing her (and thus running up the costs). What made it so much worse was trying to get in to see the dr when this dog's ailments finally became critical. Even after explaining the urgency of her condition, the front office told us they would only put us on their waiting list (we were number 8) and that if it was truly an emergency we should take her to Blue Pearl in Tacoma and they (River Road) would see us in two months. This is really an abbreviated telling as our dog did pass away several days later from a misdiagnosed ailment and yes, we did go to the emergency vet. It is a horrific story made even more so by the indifference shown by the staff at this clinic. Where is your humanity? You should not be in this profession if all you see are dollar signs. The difference between you and a pet supply company called Chewy is staggering. When I called to cancel future shipments of our dog's supplements they not only commiserated and listened on the phone about the deep loss that our family felt, they even sent flowers. When your office, who might have saved this dog with consciousness care, was informed of the same news? *CRICKETS* . If your practice is getting to be too big and too busy to really look at each animal you see as beloved by the people who pay you, if your mission statement is "Profits Before Pets," then maybe you should quit the veterinarian practise and go into pharmaceuticals instead.

The receptionist was wonderful in answering our initial questions and getting us an appointment for our dog. The initial exam was wonderful, but then the clinic began adding extra charges and tests. The vet prescribed an antibiotic, but then could not fit our dog in for a follow-up appointment for another two months. Very poor communication and availability of services. Our last vet retired, but this wasn't a good choice for a new one.

So grateful for this place of knowledgable Dr's, and amazing support staff. We moved, and found a closer vet, but came back because they are worth the drive. They have helped our dog and cats have the best healthy lives, and show such kindness to me and my family.

Have used them for the last three years or so for our three dogs, they've been wonderful during every interaction. Highly recommend them for any routine veterinary needs.

The staff was great and really kind to my sick cat. I also thought that the medical cost was very fair. Thanks for your help today; my cat feels much better.

We take our dog here so naturally we decided to take our kitten here. We were given information before our kittens first vet appointment that his sister was tested positive with ringworm (this was the beginning of August) So naturally we called this vet and asked what we could do before his appointment. THE RECEPTIONIST told us that it is extremely important to keep our animals separate, as ringworm is contagious and our dog could get it from the cat. Come to the day we bring him to the vet and they give him an extremely inaccurate test. The test took 2 minutes, where as his sisters test took a week. My cat is tested negative. So we let our animals roam together again. About a week later, a ringworm spot pops up on me. I have been seen, I have been treated, I'm past the contagious stage. Saturday (9/12/20) comes around, and I notice my DOG now has a ringworm spot!! So my fiancé calls the vet Monday (yesterday) and the vet tells him "in my 30 years, I've only seen a cat give a dog ringworm once" CLEARLY IF YOUVE SEEN IT ONCE ITS STILL POSSIBLE! AND YOUR RECEPTIONIST THE FIRST TIME TOLD US IT WAS IMPORTANT TO KEEP THEM SEPARATE! Now we're being charged out of the butt to treat BOTH of my animals when, again, this could've all been avoided had my cat been given the correct test the first time. Also, the vet told my fiancé that he's giving us a cream to put on my cats skin for the ringworm. My fiancé gets home, reads the box, ITS AN ORAL MEDICATION! So we've just got wrong information after wrong information and we're being charged to fix their mistake. How careless and inconsiderate can a vet be? Don't take your animals here.

We started bring our puppy (westtie) in Jan 2020 this is when we got her! This clinic was recommended by a friend! by March she should have had her shots again this service wasn't completed nor were we told that she needed it at that time!!! the vet tech or anyone else said nothing to us on this!! We were told she was up to date and see yeah next year!! This was on March 10th 2020 last date of service! I just found out she wasn't up to date at that time and now she's even father behind!! They left my sweet little dog exposed to multitude of things! Bad Service! Plus I called every Friday and Monday to try to get her in for grooming No one said a word about shots!!! WTF! Worst Vet Clinic in all of Puyallup! Hope your dog never needs anything from this clinic!

I can't say enough great things about River Road animal hospital. They genuinely care and are so unbelievably good with my dog. Finding them has been a blessing! I get emotional when I talk about it! Not only did they save my dogs life when I didn't think it was possible but recently we had to have an appointment at the emergency vet clinic instead, the lady working there used to work at River Road. She said "Oh my gosh, I know your dog! She's so sweet. I used to love changing her bandages at River Road because she was always such a good girl!". It really goes to show the type of people this vet clinic takes the care to employ, that even months later at a new job she remembered my dog. I've been here many, many times now and every single experience has been positive with the staff. They don't price gauge and their top priority is your pets health.
