I like that I can go there and get food for free - they often have nice things from Trader Joe's and T&C Market. A lot of times they also meat alternatives for those who don't eat it.However, check your expiration dates and packaging. I grabbed a box of cookies and only when I got home realized they'd already been opened. I'm not even sure why they were on the shelf. I've also brought home items that have expired and I know dry goods and canned goods are often okay for a bit after that date, but one time I checked a can and it had expired TWO YEARS prior. I understand a few months but even at a food bank that shouldn't have been on the shelf.Produce used to be unlimited but now they do put limits on it which unfortunately means not as much fresh, healthy food as people were getting but on the other hand it makes sure that everyone can get some veggies. Some of their staff needs retraining - especially this little Redhead who always gives me attitude and wants to dig through my food in my bags like I'm some sort of criminal (i bag as i go to make it easier for them to get in and out. I don't want your hands on my food. I only take what I'm allowed and what I need. The other staff has been great overall. They need more carts - 10 people are allowed in, they should have 10 carts - one person per family shops. More people get in, the line goes faster. OR, what most food banks do is assign times and honestly I'd like that because they're only open during my set work hours so the only time I can go is on my lunch. Inflation is horrible - some clients like me work 40 hours a week, I'm not married (anymore) and have 2 kids so there is no 2nd income in my house - I'm it. If there were assigned times I could make sure I get in and out during my lunch. They no longer allow people to wait inside even when it is FREEZING, RAINING - you can't even wait by the door anymore, you can't save your spot and wait in your car where you'd have SHELTER from the rain and the cold. In the summer people will have the opposite problem, especially people like me who burn easily. I've waited in that line for 40 minutes before and I feel for people who have waited longer. They could do appointments every half hour and then 10 people go in and it's small- it takes 15 minutes to shop, then check out and then there are the carts for the next group of people coming in for their appointments. It works like that at the food bank where my sister goes and many others.I want them to know I'm not bashing them but I hope they will take some of these ideas under consideration to make things easier for both them and their clients.

Local food bank with lots of selection of fresh food. Very friendly and helpful workers who truly have compassion for those in need. Usually plenty of parking but can be busy at times. Convenient hours but selections may be reduced for food options the later you go in the day, best to get there shortly after they open. All Kitsap county residents are welcome.

My experience there was absolutely horrible. When trying to apply for an EBT, the guy who I was talking to was extremely rude and was a horribly bad person. I already understood what my current income is at but the way he talked to me was like being in a domestic violent situation. He's insulting and contently comments his clients negatively when he has no idea what kind of situation we been through. He's unprofessional and does not know how to respect other people. If you are wanting to apply for EBT I encourage everyone who is reading this to apply somewhere else. Fishline lacks management and has no respect for customers, clients, or anyone. Also he tells me to back away when he said something about Covid. That's where I start to notice some red flags.
