They were wonderful to me, They let you pick out your own stuff which makes SO much more sense than just getting handed a bag of whatever! Other food banks will just hand you stuff and then you're stuck with a bunch of stuff that you can't use, but these people are organized really well and they do it right. You don't leave without anything you don't want! PLUS you don't have to even live in Orting! PLUS you're allowed to go once a week! PLUS seniors get in the first hour exclusively on Fridays!

First time there, the lady (not sure what her name is but she works in the office) was very unwelcoming, not nice at all and she really set the vibe for our visit. She asked why haven't we looked for food banks in our area and how she really only serves people in Orting. I stood there in disbelief for a moment. I don't understand why it is any of her business to know our circumstances and why we went to Orting. Just be prepared to be questioned if you don't LIVE in Orting. Even though I live about ten minutes from there. Puyallup.
My aunt and i wanted to try a food bank together since we are both struggling and were nervous coming in to begin with. my aunt lives farther than me and she questioned her as well. The lady really set the tone for the visit.
Other than that, the folks were nice and they had a great selection of items. However, we wont be returning again due to the unwelcoming factors.

I came to this food bank as all the nourish food banks were closed for inventory through New years. I live in downtown puyallup, so it is about a 15 minute drive. The lady who checked me in made me feel awful and asked if there were food banks in Puyallup. Yes, but the one I go to is closed. She goes onto explain that people come even closer to Seattle so they dont have enough food for the people of Orting.Being completely humiliated, currently unemployed, single mother with two small children 6 and 8, I waited quietly for my turn. The rest of my experience was wonderful. I was treated nicely by all other volunteers and got a good amount of food for my family. Im not sure how the intake person feels this is helpful. I will likely return as the drive here is actually shorter than the top of the South Hill in Puyallup and keep my check in short.

The staff are kind and helpful. There is always a variety of food. There are veggies and bread out front available every day as long as people are donating.
