The building looks small but it's pretty big. A lot of information I learned a lot about the ocean. I don't recommend my 4 year old to go lol.

I have been visiting coastal museums & exhibits along the Oregon and Washington coast for 30 years and this is the best one I have ever been to. There are a ton of interesting things to see and a lot of interactive things for kids. Anyone coming through ocean shores should visit, it was so worth it.

We loved spending time learning about native history and peoples, and admiring their technology, methods and tools. It was awesome to see comprehensive exhibits covering a variety of topics including history of the forests, animals, and grey’s harbor communities and beyond. We learned many new interesting things about the Pacific Northwest because of this museum, and even brought home special souvenirs, including an interesting book by a local author. Definitely worth a visit for lovers of nature and curious minds.

Great informative center. Kids will enjoy as well. 10 dollars for a family is a good cause.

Cool little museum with a lot of interesting things and information. The children's area was really well done with lots of things to touch and play with. Fairly inexpensive at $10 per family. We stayed for about an hour with 4 adults, a 15 year old, 12 year old, and 2 year old.

Very fun museum and great to visit the less busy edge of Ocean Shores area. The kids had the best time in the science exploration area and our 4 year old said before bed later that night "I can't wait to be a scientist". They had fun leading us through the whole museum afterwards and there's so much to see. Shipwreck items, local history, dioramas, taxidermist preserved local natural creatures, and a cute little gift shop. All for very reasonable price and with friendly staff.

If I could give zero stars I would. Came to the Easter event at the time advertised on the flyer and turns out the randomly started the hunt much earlier for no apparent reason and everything was gone. We drove an hour to be there and the kids were excited. Very Inconsiderate. Don’t state the time right on your WEBSITE FLYER and FACEBOOK if it means absolutely nothing. Do not attend this event. Will never come back to this place. 0/10

The last time my Darling Husband and myself were in Ocean Shores, Washington state we drove to the Coastal Interpretive Center. I bought my Husband a book of ghost stories during one visit. The last time I bought my Husband a Tie Dye T Shirt with the name of the Interpretive Center on the back. I had to wait a few minutes for the Clerk at the register to notice that I was standing there ready to make my purchase, though. There were a few Tourists already here... so I waited to enter. Some of the exhibits are newer. The animals have been updated. And there is an area where there are animal pelts up on the wall so that visitors can feel certain animals furs. On the side of the Interpretive Center is a buoy from Japan. In front of the Interpretive Center is a small garden with markers. Most of the animals inside aren't alive... so if looking at dead things creeps you out... you should avoid that back room. I was looking at a few items from a Shipwreck... and my Husband said that he wanted to go back outside. There were books for children mostly. I didn't see anything that I wanted during this last day trip.

We spent about 1 1/2 hours here expecting to be learning just about the local area. Instead, we learned about the entire west coast, forestry history, ocean currents, Coast Guard severe storm rescues, and geological facts that showed how the western coast and mountains were formed. I am over 70 and I learned a lot during my visit. Very well displayed for self learning at your own pace. They also have much that is kid oriented for them to discover and learn for themselves. I do recommend this center for family visits!

Quaint, local interpretive center really gives you the flavor of the area! I love eclectic spots like this that give a taste of the local area-- history, ecology, culture, geology, geography, and more... I especially enjoyed learning about the past lumber industry and tragic area shipwrecks.
