When in crisis is hard to navigate all by yourself, specially when you're looking for a rehab center that will be a perfect fit for you... but after doing my research finally I found the one, Free by The Sea!
When I first made contact, Free by The Sea staff was very friendly and following up with me until the day I was admitted was nice and smooth. Following up with me was very crucial so I had no doubt that I had made a great choice.
At the time of my arrival, it seemed like I was being welcomed by either a vacation resort or some type of 'getaway' because the place was beautiful and natural as it can be.
I had no specific expectations, all I wanted was to get the help and education to start like they say at Free by The Sea - a New Course of Life.
I did inpatient residential, Php and IOP, this is the very first time I did all 3 programs. The structure of the program was designed for me (us) to slowly re-integrate to the society and face the 'real world' full of knowledge and tools for those obstacles to come.
The counselors are great, personally I was very satisfied with Brian - who I am thankful for. The classes, sessions and group meetings are great - with character and good purpose. And let's not forget about the kitchen ladies who make the best food and are very friendly, making you feel like at home with some nice music in the cafeteria. As for housekeeping, Eureka and Debbie are very hard workers and leave your living-space/bedroom impeccable.
They have medical assistants providing you with your prescribed medications 4 times a day, and Nina is great at what she does in the Med-room.
The only thing I could probably could used more of, or wanted to attend more is Celebrate Recovery but that is something more personal - is at FbTS where I found more interests.
Overall Free by The Sea is highly recommendable and I will spread the word for those in need - or just in general because you never know...
Free by The Sea helps you feel Free not just by the Sea but everywhere! :)

Called for help after 8 months of sobriety. Don’t have the right insurance, which they set me up with and was told “we’ll call you back”. So disappointed in the aftercare…Here is my review, Sabrina, that you asked for the entire time I was there…..Cinnamon, Christi, Jenn, Lisa, Kurt, Elyssa - all of the people that pretended to care but never even referred me to another place for help….$$$. ZERO humanity

I definitely got more out of it than if I had not gone. The reason being, I had to advocate for every service I received. They were going through a transition so that may explain some of the issues.
If you have mental health issues that require highly skilled professionals, you may want to look at other options. If you are dealing with severe trauma, definitely look at all options.
My case manager was great, the groups were good and staff did the best with the resources they had. I definitely do not regret going so this is just an honest assessment of my experience.

I must say that this is the place for me and many addicts, as I listened to their stories about leaving and not completing their time at other recovery places. Free by the Sea is different -- maybe it is part of the isolation and being in nature.
But most of all it is the counselors and awesome staff. They go above and beyond. They know your name without you wearing a nametag. Any issues they are there with open arms to help you and they truly do CARE about your recovery. I highly recommend them!
From a family member -
I cannot say enough good things about Free by the Sea! Our family is so grateful for the outstanding staff, the excellent food, the counselors. Even just walking in the door I could feel the warmth and caring. Free by the Sea is truly exceptional. Kudos to the people here who change lives and do this important work for individuals and families.

I had a great experience at Free By the Sea. The location is wonderful, adding to the restorative process. The counselors are caring and helpful, truly invested in my recovery. The other staff are also great. I felt they took the time to know my name from the start and always treated me with dignity and respect. The kitchen staff are so sweet and kind, taking the time to work with dietary changes. Having beach access was a life saver for me. Also, extras like yoga and sound bowls were nice. The facilities are comfortable, however, some updates are needed to the rooms, but I know it is a work in progress. Overall, I would highly recommend Free By the Sea for treatment.

This place has truly changed me from the inside out. They have been more than helpful of my recovery and at times I even forgot I was in recovery. The staff have been very accommodating and the counseling has made me have several breakthroughs. I highly recommend to people who are wanting to make a change for the positive in their life. THANK YOU FREE BY THE SEA!

I’ve had a wonderful experience at Free by the Sea. The staff has been super helpful during my entire stay. The groups have been extremely informative and the facility is great. It needs a bit of a facelift but every day they are out there working on updates. I have appreciated all aspects of my treatment. From walks to the beach, bonfires, sound baths, yoga, NA and AA meetings, groups, offsite activities, etc! The accommodations have been great. Beds are super comfortable and the rooms are wonderful. I would definitely recommend free by the sea. But please remember, you get out of it what you put into it. ?

Free by the Sea has been life changing for me and my sobriety !! You have amazing staff who is there for all your needs. Free by the Sea is an old resort and that is how your stay will be. A hotel room for you and another client. Everyone has been so kind and friendly. Here, you will learn coping skills and relapse prevention skills to help you in your sobriety. If your lucky enough and get the chance to meet, Wesley you will not be disappointed. He is a light in a dark room. Always so positive, upbeat and inspiring. He truly and genuinely cares about EVERY. SINGLE. CLIENT here, at Free by the Sea ! There were times I was crying, down and wanted to leave and he, gave me a pep talk and reminded me why I was here and all the work I had already put in. He will be your number 1 fan, here. I promise. :)
Sure there may be some things that need to be worked out as far as the duel diagnosis but they are ACTIVELY working on that. And you will get the dual services here. I did ! And I couldn't be happier. :)
I can honestly say this is better than the last treatment or of other treatment centers I have heard of. You get to be outside as much as you like (outside of group on your down time) and trips to the beach. We have even had numerous bonfires on the beach roasting smores and having AA meetings. It doesn't get much better than this.
They also provide Yoga and sound bowls by Sabrina, whom is absolutely wonderful. Theres also cinnamon, Candi and Kimberly who are great women working the front desk and will put a smile on your face and make you laugh. Then there is Nina who passes meds and makes sure you get what you need meds wise ! Serves your meds with a smile and ALWAYS asks how your day is :) the counselors here are great but the one that has stuck out the most to me is, Lisa ! She wasnt my counselor but I sure wish she wouldnhave been. Wether she is your counselor or not she is always there to help and provide information. She is a ROCKSTAR who goes above and beyond!! The food ? Its been hit and miss but mostly hits ! The gals here who cook and serve our food are the best !:) I cant forget about Jen
She makes things happen and I'm so thankful for her ♡? I'll gladly recommend anyone who is in need of inpatient to, Free by The Sea !
So if your in need, make the call ! ♡♡♡♡

Free By The Sea was an integral part of the beginning of my recovery. I gained a lot of knowledge and support from the counselors and staff that helped me gain the confidence and motivation to continue to move forward with my sobriety. Thank you for this experience!

When I arrived at FBTS, I felt alone, and very hard on myself for being an addict, full of guilt and shame. The other clients at FBTS made me feel welcome, showing that not one of us is more or less than the other in our addiction. That we are all in this together, that we are here to support one another through this journey. A group that lifts each other higher, with no judgement. I could not have asked for better friends surrounding me during my time in residential.
The staff at FBTS show they truly care about you and your recovery, it feels as if it's more important to help people who want to change their life for the better, rather than just a 9-5 job.
Every one at FBTS are all there by choice. Your peers are there because they want to be, not because someone told them to be, which felt to be welcoming.
I learned so much at FBTS from class work, Staff, and other patience's. I am grateful for my time at FBTS and am using what I learned in residential.
Thank you, to everyone on at FBTS.

I recently had the opportunity to experience the Rehab Free by the Sea, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations. The competent staff of addiction specialists truly made a difference in my journey towards recovery. Surrounded by the serene beauty of the beach, the atmosphere was incredibly conducive to healing.
The abundance of amenities, from volleyball and pickleball to basketball, provided enjoyable ways to stay active. The arts and crafts, yoga sessions, and sound bowl sessions offered additional avenues for relaxation and self-reflection.
Moreover, the food was delicious, and the rooms were comfortable, providing a sense of home during a challenging time. What truly stood out was the knowledgeable staff, with mental health clinicians readily available for support and guidance. Overall, my experience at Rehab Free by the Sea was exceptional, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking comprehensive care in a stunning setting.

These people are making up these 5 star ratings. I spent over a month there for “dual diagnosis” treatment.. omg. I am more traumatized than I was when I got there! Absolutely no help for PTSD whatsoever. They are ageist and they don’t like disabled people. We are too much trouble. If you want protein and don’t eat meat? Get an egg on the salad. That’s it. Rude desk people who favor “some” and the kitchen staff acts like they are going out of their way to get you plant based protein burgers. They act like mushrooms have all the protein you need. The sliders don’t close all the way in rooms so you’re getting an ice cold air flow from the ocean. Pile your pillows up against the curtains that linings are all ripped up. It’s an old Western Hotel that hasn’t been renovated since this “family owned money-sucking business” took over. Some of the rooms look like places time forgot. Most of the staff is not in recovery and it shows! You are a little lower on the totem pole than they are. They charged my insurance - get this - $88,000 for 30 days. They got paid 24,000. 800.00/day? So much down time. Nothing to do. It was like being in detox - for 800.00/day! Groups cancelled often. So they’d throw in a TED talk video and sit on the phone the entire hour. What a pitiful joke. The place is photoshopped by the way. They are liars and these 5 star reviews are made up by staff! Omg What a joke.
OKAY**** You want me to “reach out”. That’s funny. I noticed all these 5 star reviews were answered in a day or two. MINE WASN’T! Because I’m telling it like it was. You had to have a group huddle to figure out how to handle this TRUTHFUL review. You paid the others, probably by giving them a discount on the “upper supposed” costs out of pocket costs. Great good for you!
I reached out several times. You stopped taking my calls. You wouldn’t return my calls. You know who I am. My phone was dropped by someone and won’t ring more than once to this day, you lost my car key and fob, and you finally sent my vitamins you didn’t include while you were rushing me out. My eye meds were in your facility with
people who didn’t know what they were doing with meds (OMG!) I knew I came in with them and
Until was in a panic until got amazon package. A few days later “what’s her name” pulled out my
meds and ALL MY EYE OINTMENTS, drops, etc in a plastic bag! The entire time they had been there. And she “didn’t have the authority to give them to me! What is she doing handing out meds?
I had asked for a new counselor instead of Lisa - I got zero help from her - EVER!!! You still hadn’t replaced light bulbs in two rooms I had requested so I could see! Warm lights instead of LEDs. I had put this in writing! It went on and I have times and dates.
How can we help you finally! AGAIN, PLEASE ENLARGE PRINTED OUT MATERIAL SO I CAN SEE IT! Nope couldn’t be done. It would be a copyright BS. I was all printed out from books anyway. Why would it be a copyright law if it was already printed - but ENLARGING PRINT WOULD BE A CRIME OR SOMETHING? NO. It was too much trouble for you to enlarge the print for me.
I was “forced” to go to the beach because it was “all or no one!”. That was when another group was cancelled. Me, closing my eyes, unable to face the sun, fear of getting the cold blowing sand in my eyes felt like I had to go with it. I didn’t stay long. It was painful.
I was called by staff 2x I was a “pain in the ass” (many a truth said in jest?) and one time again - then quickly - but you all are.
There are many more things I could write, but my eyes are hurting and you people are worthless. You know how much I was dealing with and took advantage of it.
You conveniently “dismissed” me on day 35 because it was understood I had planned on seeing the day I had to see my eye doctor 3-1/2 miles away. It was clearly understood.
A lot more I could write about that, but you

Very high quality, spiritually based mental health and recovery center in an incredible natural setting. Extremely effective full 360 degree wellness curriculum with caring faculty and staff that focuses on full recovery and an opportunity to chart a new course in life. Classes are well rounded to both provide the student with new tools and strategies to maximize their recovery and life goals. Free by the sea is much more than a recovery center. The setting on the Pacific Ocean is incredible with opportunities to walk on the beach to integrate lessons taught and see the beauty in life. Definitely would recommend to anyone needing treatment and a new outlook and chapter in life.

They advertise such a wonderful place, and have plenty of fake reviews. If you sign up for this BS remember I warned you! It's an Old Western Hotel that has never been updated. The family run business has photoshopped their 3 floor elevator home out of the picture - it stands between the "facility" and ocean. Where are all these pictures taken anyway? A lot look like oregon coast. Old crappy dirty carpet, 70's lamps - think wicker scalloped, brown of course. Old appliances in rooms that don't work - where would you get food to cook anyway? Too much trouble and expense to remove them and update the place from what - 70's?. Food? Great. If you like the same salad every single day. And if you don't eat meat? You are SOL! Treatment? What? Where? Lisa (supposed counselor) is one of the rudest people I have ever met - but she doesn't hesitate to tell you about her wonderful life. The head of counselors? You'll see her (maybe) once a week where she will do the standard "test" on how you're improving. The (I'm thinking fake) shrink you'll see once a week for (???) will see you on zoom for 15 m and throw a few pills your way. There is absolutely ZERO place to "process" your grief! Your trauma is ignored. In fact I will tell you 5 people left there within 3 weeks of my stay. Not a lot of happy campers. BTW? They are lying to you about the cost. Double check that one out baby. If you survive the first 30 days of detox (I guess) you will be paying rent for the "next phase" where people were leaving by the droves. Don't know about the 3rd phase. Didn't care to. I'm happy the family who owns this dungeon is doing well though. I don't know how they can sleep at night KNOWING what they have been doing for years. Well, let's put it this way - they don't care about residents, and they have no consideration for anyone but themselves.
